Just bought my first windows mobile

Hi!!

Just bought my first windows mobile, htc touch hd, and I want to flash WM 6.5 on it.... I have several questions:

Is it safe to do that? or should I be worried about some complications?

what kind of knowlege I should have to do that? or does it as simple as having a new windows operating system on my laptop?

where can I find a step by step clear, simple english, instructions how to do that?

Is it different from the upcoming official windows mobile 6.5? am I going to be able to download applicatons from the upcoming offical windows mobile marketplace?

I just get the same problem. I googled this but still didn't get any answers. So where can I find a step by step clear simple english instructions how to do that? I know nothing about flashing the phone.....

You will need to find a rom specific for your phone

first find out if you have a GSM or CDMA carrier, if you try to flash a GSM rom to a CDMA phone you will brick it. (brick = bad)

then check out a rom website like for example, MightyRom

This might be a good source but your are on the XDA devs website - which is the biggest ROM factory in the world........(dont quote that plleeze :) )
Doesnt make sense to come here then go somewhere else for a ROM.....in fact that is like backwards or something?!?

on the left you will see that EVERY HTC PHONE has its own section (sorry for shout)
- Now find your blackstone (touch HD)
- Now go into the Rom section

If you follow instructions you won´t have any problem. On my opinion cooked ROM´s by our great chefs here at XDA are much much better than the official ones

Then enter to blackstone section and select your 6.5 desired ROM
