I already have a post on the pertinent ROM thread (Cornelha's WizFlo 2D 6.1.2.2 Build 20931) and think it is worth while starting a new thread on its own merit to solve this mystery.
I have 2 Wizards; one G3 flashed with CRacing ROM (SYS build 20764) and a second (spare for back up and playing around with cooking, experimenting, spare parts, etc), that is G4 that I just flashed with Cornelha's WizFlo 2D rom.
I was hesitant to flash the new Radio 3.02.11 (WHERE DID THIS COME FROM ANYWAYS???) and tried on the G4 device first for a while. Suddenly the Roaming Icon came back on (after the previously applied registry hack to disable). I am on Rogers network in Canada. I recenlty travelled into the US and ~ 200 m across the Canada/US border, the roaming icon popped up. I checked registry setting (HKLM\...\DisableRoamingIcon) and it was changed to 0. I changed back to 1 to disable, waited a bit, and then soft reset. The icon popped back up. I left it alone to see what was going to happen coming back. Again, shortly back into the Canadian border ~ 200m, Rogers network picked up and the roaming icon went away on its own. Again, I checked regisrty setting and it was back to 1 again.
If I take out SIM card and insert my Germany or Mexico SIM, the roaming icon shows up and registry value is 0. Put Rogers SIM back in, icon disappears and registry reverts back to 1.
In short, Roaming Icon is working properly on this device.
Now the puzzle ... after getting a level of comfort with the 3.02 radio, I decided to go ahead and flash to my other G3 Wizard with the CRacing ROM.
I was expecting the same thing to happen with the roaming icon, but strangely ... it did NOT.
So, what is it about the combination of G4 device with Cornelha's SYS 20931 ROM and 3.02 radio that makes the Roaming icon work properly vs. the G3 device with CRacing SYS 20764 ROM and 3.02 radio that it does NOT work properly. (what is controlling this ... ril.dll, rilgsm.dll, radio.dll, cprog.exe???)
I think all those Wizard loving users out there would want to have their Roaming Icon working as it is supposed to. Who else is up for this challenge?
