welcome to the forum!

ok, you made several mistakes there:
1. you obviously started flashing without reading first, now you have to spend double the time and effort reading and fixing afterwards! (happens to a lot of people though, don't worry)
2. you opened a new thread (in the wrong section, this belongs in "upgrading") for a problem, that has been solved dozens of times before.

but never the less i will try and explain the problem to you:
as you may have realized, wm6 is completely different from wm2003, you have to do things differently, like the hard reset, and instead of a proper bootscreen you have that 4-coloured screen. those are effects caused by the fact that this device is not actually meant for wm5 or above. flashing a cooked rom is not like buying a new device with the new os on it, so there are a few things to get used to.

one of those things is to never set a password. the password is not properly saved in the device and that is why you can successfully set a password, but never type it in again. it would say, the password is wrong, because internally it is changed to something else.

if a soft reset or hard reset could delete the password, it would not really be a theft protection, would it?
that is why you have to flash the rom again, or a different one, that is up to you, but with a clean flashing and cleaning the registry hive and formatting the storage, the password is gone and you should refrain from setting a new one, because any password will fail with any cooked rom here. if you want to protect your device, there are great 3rd party applications to do that, you should search the forum and also google.
which is a good advice in general, you might also want to do that the next time you do something, you have never done before and that might be harmful ;)

since you are apparently rather unexperienced with the entire subject, you might want to have a look at the wiki wizard to guide you through the process of proper flashing, because maybe there is more, that you missed out and you are heading for the next chaotic situation: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardMain

i know i missed a lot with my first few flashes

with best regards,
