First of all many thanks to All XDA & PPC-Geeks Members.
Special Thanks to :
trueg, kokotas, ayyu3m, honcorrd, dsixda, jerpelea, miky6682, kancrutt, analyser.x, gdsbalaji and All the Moderators (You guys Rock).
(Believe me, if seniors like dsixda, vadyarik et al would not have moved to newer phone's ROM development, I would not have even tried to build my ROM).

Attention Please : Starting from build 21899, there will be Full as well as Lite version of ROMs.

21911: Version 1

In addition to Contents, it has the following :

No M2D and its components. No goodies.

Removed from ROM :

SampleMusic, Transcriber, VoiceCommand, WelcomeCenter, WMLiveSearchWidget, WMMoneyWidget, WMWeatherWidget, MSTag, LiveSearch, Office, OneNote, RemoteDesktopMobile, JBlend, VoiceRecorder, RSSHub

Note :
- Flash this ROM on your own risk as I am not responsible for any damage to your phone.
- Before flashing backup your data using PIM backup utility.
- All the testing has been done on an Elfin. Enthusiast are encouraged to try on an Elf.
- Blue-tooth is not tested for all the functionality.
- Only WWE edition is tested.

A Humble Request :
- Please do not ask me to cook the ROM with newer builds of WM 6.5.
- I have already tried to cook the ROM for 21857, 23009, 23034 builds.
- Comparing all these builds and poking around the development and hacking threads on XDA and PPCGeeks, I came to conclusion that, the build 218xx is quite stable and has less number of bugs.
- Also the 230xx series of builds in under development at Microsoft's side itself. So it does not make sense to me to build a ROM out of those.
- If a stable, less buggy build is out then, I will definitely try to cook the ROM using it.
- Having said that, please note no offence is meant here. :).

1. Threaded SMS :
You can disable the Threaded SMS using the Advance Configuration Tool.

2. In Call Volume (Not 100% sure of this method) :
Have a look in the registry (Use PHM Registry Editor) at HKCU/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/InCall
Key: InitVol
The default should be 5. If it lower than that set it to that. If it is at 5 crank it up to no more than 10 and see if that works for you.

3. Windows 7 Splash Screen :
Link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561679&page=2).
Credits to : harfuch

4. Debug Log Problem :
Manifests itself as big log file created at \cedebug.
- Delete the registry key and its sub keys : "HKLM\Software\HTC\DebLogger"
- Save and Reboot.
- Now delete the cedebug folder at root of phone.

5. S2U2 and HTC Mega Phone Canvas (Applicable to 21867 version 1.0) :
- It looks like there is some issue with S2U2's caller-id and HTC Mega Phone Canvas.
- It manifests itself if you enable the S2U2's caller-id functionality with symptoms as : Unable to attend the call with S2A slide bar/hardware button. Only the call can be disconnected using the hardware button.
- The work around for this is to : disable the S2U2's caller-id from the S2U2 settings. For more details see the S2U2 thread. After you disable the caller-id, the usual HTC Mega Phone canvas's screen comes up whenever you receive a call.

6. Uninstall S2U2 (Applicable to 21867 version 1.0) :
- In case you are not comfortable using the S2U2, kindly uninstall it from Settings -> System -> Remove Programs.
- A word of caution here is : Since I have removed WM6.5 lock screen, you will have to live with WM 6.1 style lock screen.

7. Vibrate on Connect :
- Set the following registry key using PHM registry editor
HKLM\Software\OEM\Keystate\UseService to 1
- Note : Not tested by me as I don't use this feature :)

8. Change the default System Font :

Credits to : Merlin_reloaded

9. Many Useful tips/tricks/tutorials :
Link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=564130
Credits to : Mr. Makk

10. Internet, Google Maps and YouTube in M2D 2.0 :
- Install Opera, Google Maps and YouTube cabs on phone.
- Copy HTCHomeSettings.xml from \Windows of phone to desktop PC.
- Open HTCHomeSettings.xml in notepad.
- Search for <Tabs>.
- Here there is a list of widgets that can be seen in M2D.
- There is a flag called enable.
- Enable this flag for InternetWidget and LocationWidget.
- Save this file.
- Copy it back to \Windows of phone.
- Soft reset the phone.

11. How to enable Weather on Home Tab?
Method : 1 -
Go to Weather tab --> Add Location --> Update --> Home Tab --> Tap to update weather --> Settings Tab --> Location --> Tick on "Automatically decline location service... --> Home Tab --> Tap to update weather. It should work !!
Credits to : kancrutt

Method : 2 -
Check services CLL, HTCGeoSrvc, AGPS notification. They should be running.
Also you need to check System -> Location Settings. All tips are enable.
Credits to : sergiorus

12. How to reduce total memory needed by M2D to run?
- Try this reg edit: “HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\ResProxy” using a registry editor and change “ShareMemSize” to 0."
- Soft reset
Credits to : Sector

13. DSIXDA's ONYX ROM's FAQ
- Believe me guys this FAQ has wealth of information for all.
- NOTE : Not all the information/tip etc mentioned in this FAQ apply to my ROMs. So please use this FAQ an guide to get past your issue in hand.
Link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2645268&postcount=2
Many Thanks and Credits to : dsixda

13. Tapping battery icon does not take to battery setting
1. Try the following registry setting :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TaskBa r]
"LimitedClock"=dword:0 ;Show clock in taskbar
"ConsistentClockOrBattery"=dword:0 ;Show Power Settings when you click on battery icon
2. Soft Reset
Many Thanks and Credits to : dsixda
NOTE : The contents after ; are comment and not a part of registry key.

14. Disable SMS Threading (Faster in SMS Inbox)
1. Try the following registry setting :
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM
set SMSInboxThreadingDisabled to 1
2. Soft Reset
Credits to : yottamug

15. Customize M2D Home widget right button
1. Try the following registry setting :
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila2D\Home
set "SK2" to "Connect" (string)
set "SK2Cmd" to "\Windows\CommManager.exe" (String)
set "SK2CmdParam" to "" (string)
2. Soft Reset
NOTE : This example changes the default shortcut to Camera to Connect which will open the comm manager

Congratulations chota_shivaji!

Some of us Elf(in) owners love built-in M2D ROMs. Your release definitely should meet the criteria. I may not be able to directly feedback yet but hope to do so when I have the time to flash. Good job!

- Yes I have been using this ROM almost since last week.
- One of the point of concern is : Battery Drain.
- I have observed that, with 100% charged battery without using WiFi/GPRS, it lasts for about ~36 hours (1.5 days). This includes nominal phone calls (5 - 10) of (1 - 3) minutes.
- No idea if this is poor/average/above average etc.
- Maybe now the time has come to check how to reduce the battery consumption.

just flashed and I can say this is a real great release.... I am testing it now on a wifi... have not tested the bluetooth yet... I believe it would run well on an ELF because there are not much of an application was embedded on the ROM

Tried it on ELF, works great!!
But running really low on memory, after a reboot my phone just has 12.5MB free mem :(
Any scope for a lite version?

Hi All,

- Just uploaded the ROM for build 21864.
- Further removed some packages.
- As usual all the required testing is done on an Elfin. Elf users are encouraged to check this ROM for memory usage. Hope this one is better than previous.
- Seems to have better battery life.

Give it a try and let me know the feedback.

Can you try the ROM with build 21864 if possible?
ROM with build 21851 had the deblogger registry ON which was one of the reason for low memory.

Great ROM, lite and slim an not at all laggy :) And even the rain animation is smooth

One problem with the latest release 21864 - no mail synched from Exchange can be opened - it tries to open the message when clicked (both from inbox and mail tab in M2D), that can be noticed by "Outlook E-mail" shown in title bar, but the window remains the same and even responds to clicks.
Maybe you shouldn't have removed Outlook enhancement from ROM.

Tried after a clean install and hard reset.
With a previous build no such bug found.

And keep up the good work :)

- Thanks a lot for your valuable feedback.
- This reminds me to check this functionality as well in my testing of ROM.

Having said that, can you please comment on battery life and RAM usage? The difference between 21851 and 21864 are result of "Get more RAM for Elf users" and hence the probable cause of bug.

As for battery life, I can't tell presently - simply becuase of extensive reflashing (did a lot af that in last week :))
Will post back when I first run out of battery after a full charge (but my data might be not accurate though, since my Elfin and her battery is 1.5 years old...

Now about memory: 69.35 of 107.62 free (M2D + ActiveSync only)
It's for 21851

good work @chota shivaji.. few bugs which i noticed in build 21867..

1>Vibrate when call connected & vibrate when keys are pressed not working

2>could you not do like this that when we press lock, the s2u2 lock screen should come up instead of the wm 6.x lock screen....

3> When phone is s2u2 locked and you connect to your system there is a conflict between the usb connection menu and s2u2 the usb connection menu flashes and disappers and the s2u2 lock is unlocked..

4? Also when the phone is s2u2 locked and an incoming call comes the wm 6.5 phone canvas is displayed i guess s2u2 has its own incoming call canvas...

and also just for my info...

what is the memory usage of this ROM build..

thnx

Hi,

Thanks for the update. See inline for comments :).

1>Vibrate when call connected & vibrate when keys are pressed not working

- Need to check this. It seems that the dependencies of these features are missing (in my cooking process).

2>could you not do like this that when we press lock the s2u2 lock screen should come up instead of the wm 6.x lock screen....

- You are right. But I am not sure if WM 6.5 Start -> Lock is mapped to run S2U2. Check the S2U2 thread for this.
- Personally I don't do Start -> Lock explicitly. Instead I just keep the phone idle and when back-light turns off, S2U2 is invoked to lock the screen :).

3> When phone is s2u2 locked and you connect to your system there is a conflict between the usb connection menu and s2u2 the usb connection menu flashes and disappers and the s2u2 lock is unlocked..

- Never seen this behavior. One of the reason of this could be I have changed the S2U2's setting to always unlock the phone when connected to external power/usb cable.

4> Also when the phone is s2u2 locked and an incoming call comes the wm 6.5 phone canvas is displayed i guess s2u2 has its own incoming call canvas...

- If I understand you correctly, you are talking about caller-id feature of S2U2.
- I think there is some issue with S2U2 caller-id and HTC Mega phone canvas. See post 3 for more details.

what is the memory usage of this ROM build..

On my Elfin -
1. Program : Total - 107 MB, In Use - 42 MB
2. Storage : Total - 163 MB, In Use - 9 MB

thnx[/QUOTE]

Actually I wana try a shipped official rom wm 6.1 ..but it is not allowing me to do so..

I guess you cannot flash a shipped stock room on an unlocked phone so plz tell me how to flash a shipped stock wm 6.1 rom now..

details of device >>

CID : DOPOD001
IPL : 3.10.0002
SPL : 3.10.cmonex
Model No. : ELF0100

- I think it is possible to flash an official ROM on to phone which is CID unlocked.
- Few days back I had flashed the official ROM "RUU_Elfin_hTC_Asia_AUS_3.10.710.00_4.1.13.71_03.34 .90_BLUE_Ship" on my Elfin.
- I just used the .nbh file by putting phone into tri-color screen and then flashing using custom RUU.
- A word of caution here is : This official .nbh file locks the phone and also changes the splash screen (you will notice this if your current splash is different from default one).
- As a result you need to again unlock the phone to flash custom cooked ROM.

plz tell me how to flash a custom stock rom wm 6.1 on a custom rom and an unlocked elfin...

- I did not understand this question.
- Please elaborate more on this if possible.

Also you can PM me if required.

no shivaji I am using this shipped ROM and when i run RUU from a switched ON phone it goes into boot loader then the white screen appears showing the percentage bar but the bar stays at 0% and then my device restarts into the custom rom and the RUU.. gives the error msg as :

ERROR[260]:The ROM Update Utility has encountered communication errors during the UPDATE procesi have tried this 2-3 times but same error...

I am using this hsipped ROM

RUU_Elfin_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.07.707.02_4.1.13.71_03.34 .90_BLUE_Ship

Can you give me the download link for the ROM yo uhad tried i.e this 1 :

- What is the current ROM you are using? Is it HTC original or cooked?
- If its HTC original then you need to first unlock the phone and then proceed.
- If its cooked ROM try flashing HSPL first then flashing the new ROM. Check this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445666 AND http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408637
- If nothing works out check the Gold Card thread once :).

- What is the extension of official ROM file? Is it .nbh or .exe?
- If its .exe then you need to boot the phone, connect ActiveSync and then run the .exe on Windows PC.
- If its .nbh then you need to use the Custom RUU to flash it after putting the phone in tri-color screen.

Hope this helps to sort out the things. However please note that if its .exe then it probably will update IPL/SPL/Splash screen and OS i.e. everything and make the phone as if it is new. Is this what you want?

Hi All,

- Just uploaded the ROM with build 21867 + M2D 2.0 from HTC Mega Package.
- I tried my best to test it but there could be some unknown issues/bugs.
- Give it a try and let me know the feedback.
- As usual it is tested on Elfin with no bluetooth testing :).

Hi again, guys - sorry for being out for so long :)

Tried all builds, and still 21851 was the most stable and fastest by far...
BTW, found one other bug or something like that - on device startup even b4 manila launches Messaging app pops up (w/o content though) and has to be closed manually for M2D to start. Happens frequently, but not always - source has still to be found.
Now doing extensive testing of 21867+M2D2 - lookin' good for now, though somewhat slower than M2D1 (hey, aren't these like SW droids' names, huh?) :)

As for battery life - all builds sowed me an average of 1.5 days, not too bad tbh, since it's 30-40 mins on the phone (with BT headset) plus 2+ hours reading/playing, and pushmail always on.

And now for candies - I'm trying to figure if sound profile manager in M2D can be ripped off and reverse-engineered to support customizable profiles... If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be much appreciated.
I'm not much of a software dev myself, though I have some experience here and also some good friends :)
I've tried almost all tools there are for profile switching - and was not satisfied sice none of them are good for M2D, as they're either today plugins (obviosly hidden by Manila), or are made for other enhancements like SPB.
If this pays off, that can make M2D even more usable :)

Can you please elaborate more on what exactly you are trying to do here? (Sorry for this dumb request :().

Nothing dumb 'bout that :) I have a bad habit of incomplete explanations :(

Every one who used a "classic" mobile got pretty used to profiles (a little louder, a little quiter, vibro only, silent at all, and all that according to a simple schedule). There are even a couple of WM tools for that (since it lacks innate ability to do that) - Ageye G-Profiles (http://ageye.de/index.php?s=gprofile/about) or SPB Phone Suite (http://spbsoftware.com/pocketpc-software/phonesuite/), or even some older tools...
Still you have to put them on the launcher tab as a separate app to be able to use them fast (and SPB tool can't be used conveniently w/o SPB Mobile Shell).

What I want to look into is make the "Sounds" applet on "Settings" tab in M2D have those features of multiple fully customizable profiles that can be switched automatically based on schedule or other triggers.
I believe the applet is a separate .dll or smth like that, so it can possibly be rewritten. So for now I need to identify it and find out what I can actually put into it (to be able to switch profiles automatically it would need some service in memory, at least).
I want to make it as seamless as possible, so that it retains all the interface of classic Manila applet.

That should be long enough :)

For now I use G-Profiles, that is fine for functionality, but it has an overlay for switching, which is not clean enough for me. Always the perfectionist :D

Might as well have asked ppl on M2D thread, but thought you or someone here will have some ideas

- Thanks for explanation. I guess I got your point.
- But unfortunately I am not aware how to pursue this. The reason being :
1. I have seen 2 types customizations to M2D : Themes for M2D and Add/Remove the widget screens.
2. I think adding a new theme for M2D involves replacing the appropriate pngs in \Windows folder of phone.
3. Add/Remove widget screens seems to edit the HTCHomeSettings.xml to enable/disable the Already Available Widgets Screens.
4. However what you are looking for is : A way to customize the Settings -> Sounds screen of M2D.
5. I am not sure if HTC provides some hooks to customize the screens of M2D.

Thanks to All XDA & PPC Geeks Members.
Special Thanks to (for direct/indirect support) : trueg, kokotas, ayyu3m, honcorrd, dsixda, analyser.x, kancrutt, gdsbalaji and All the Moderators (You guys Rock).
(Believe me, if seniors like dsixda, vadyarik et al would not have moved to newer phone's ROM development, I would not have even tried to build my ROM).

OS : Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional, CE OS 5.2.21872
M2D : TouchFLO 2.0.1919.1432
Download Link : http://www.4shared.com/file/146584998/1b13ca42/65_21872_01.html

In addition to Contents, it has the following :
1. M2D 2.0 from HTC Mega Package
2. Audio Manager and Comm Manager from MEGA.
3. Help and Search Removed.
4. Internet and Map Widget from M2D disabled.

Contents :

3.14 OEM Drivers and Packages, MEGA Phone Canvas, EzInput Keyboard, .NET Framework 3.5, FDCSoft Task Manager v3.1, Comm manager, SIM Manager, PHM Registry Editor v0.70,
Notepad, Soft Reset Utility, PIM Backup v2.8.0.0, Pocket RAR 3.80, Advanced Configuration v3.3, Percentage Battery Indicator, ULDR Removed, Game - Chess, 4 column Start Menu

Removed from ROM :

Default themes. Added HTC.tsk, Streaming Media, SampleMusic, Skybox, Skymarket, Transcriber, VoiceCommand, WelcomeCenter, WindowsLive, WindowsLiveIM, WMLiveSearchWidget, WMMoneyWidget, WMWeatherWidget, MSTag, CHome, LiveSearch, Office, OneNote, RemoteDesktopMobile, JBlend, Opera Browser, VoiceRecorder, RSSHub

Note :
- Flash this ROM on your own risk as I am not responsible for any damage to your phone.
- Before flashing backup your data using PIM backup utility.
- All the testing has been done on an Elfin. Ethusiast are encouraged to try on an Elf.
- Bluetooth is not tested for all the functionality.

- If a stable, less buggy build is out then, I will definately try to cook the ROM using it.
- Having said that, please note no offence is meant here. :).

much bug ...sorry, WiFi and bluetooth cannot connect....
- It seems that there is some bug in MEGA Comm Manager used in 21872 ROM.
- I just tested the Wifi and BT via Comm Manager.
- For Wifi, if I click the button on right hand side of Comm Manager page then it does not connect. However if I click on remaining part of screen for Wifi then it connects. Also there is 1 more observation in which Wifi does not connect when ActiveSync is ON.
- For BT to work, you need enable BT and make the device visible. Then enable the beam. Then you should be able to send any file by right clicking it and doing a beam.

Having said that, it seems Comm Manager from original HTC ROM seems more efficient as compared to MEGA Comm Manager. This will be taken care of in next version.

Many Thanks for your feedback.

Hey Hi,

First, many thanks for the feedback !!

- The reason I reverted to version 1917 of M2D was : Better battery life.
- It is observed that 1919 version of M2D 2.0 alwyas creates the "deblogger" registry entry even if I removed from ROM and registry after bootup.
- It seems that even if all the entries under this key are 0 then also the 1919 version of M2D 2.0 does some logging (which is not visible) that eats battery.
- This is not seen with version 1917 of M2D 2.0.

I will see if I can cook the same ROM but 1919 version of M2D 2.0 next week.

- All the Elf/Elfin cooks use the WM 6.1 based official ROM from HTC as the base.

Hey Hi,

- The main aim of these ROMs is : Basic functionality of Phone and PDA.
- Generally I did not include Opera Browser, YouTube Player, Google Maps, Streaming Support etc. Cabs for all these and many more applications are easily available.
- Also less applications means Elf users can also use the ROM.

Having said that, I will see the pros/cons of adding YouTube, Google Maps, Streaming Media in next version :).

Hey Hi,

- I will upload the ROM with 21872 + CHome this weekend.
- Also I will check regarding "notification enhancement" & "menu enhancement" and see in which version this can be added. These are the packages specific to Mega builds of M2D and are not available in older version of M2D.
- For now I believe you install them via cab (Note : I have not tried it :)).

Hey Hi,

- I believe you can use high resolution icons yourself.
- All you need to do is download the attached .rar and extract it somewhere on PC.
- Copy all the files in it to \Windows of your phone via Activesync. Reboot to take effect.

Note :
- This will only change the resolution of windows default icons. This will not affect the custom icons used in version 2 of 21872 build ROM. In fact for this it will just revert the icons to default ones. :)
- The resolution of icons for custom applications like PIMBackup, Notepad etc will not change. You probably need to :
1. Find out which is the icon file for them
2. Copy it to PC.
3. Resize them using tools like Microsoft Office Picture Manager
4. Save and copy back to \Windows.
- This .rar also includes the files "StartMenu_GridScene_320x240.cpr" & "StartMenu_GridScene_240x320.cpr".

I am going to attach the icons used by me in version 2 of 21872 build ROM in the tips and tricks post.

Hope this is useful. :D

Hi All,

- Just uploaded the ROM with 21872 + CHome.
- Also added psShutupXP and Oxios Hibernate to the ROM.
- It seems to have nice battery life and low memory usage.

All the testing has been done on an Elfin. Enthusiasts please give it a try on an Elf.

Awaiting for the feedback.

Hey Hi,

- I never have seen this issue.
- Does the audio associated with the video plays fine? If yes, I dont have any clue as of now.

hello.. so you mean the icon PIMBackup, Notepad etc will still remain? small and pixelated?where can I find the high res default icon for PIMBackup, Notepad and the others?

-thanks :)
Hey Hi,

- I dont have the links handy as of now. You can try searching around here in windows applications and themes threads or at PPCGeeks and let us know if you find those :D.
- Also further searching makes me believe that the icons for few of these applications are embedded within the binary of the application itself. So not 100% sure from where to get the high resolution icons. As a matter of fact, more research needs to be done here :).

Hi there,

- Assuming this is on build 21782 version 3 of ROM, I would suggest you to add one more known city in weather tab (e.g. Singapore).
- Now you should have 2 cities : your city and Singapore.
- Update the weather for both.
- Goto home screen now and tap to update weather. It will update the weather now.
- Now go back to waether tab and delete Singapore.
- After this weather always updates for me in weather tab as well as on home screen.
- For build 21782 version 1 of ROM, it simply wont work as it does not have Google location service in it :(.

Hope this helps. Meanwhile let me check if I can find out the reason for this behaviour.

Yes, i am using build 21782 version 3 of ROM and i did what you said. It only updated when i restarted the TouchFLO in Home Configuration... but it worked ;)

Thanks =)

By the way, iam using Mega Lockscreen also, but it doesn't show notifications when pressing the lock button... would you have any working *.cab of this lockscreen to post here, please?

- Good to know that it worked after restarting M2D. Its strange behaviour and I am not able to find out why :(.
- For Lockscreen, it seems to me that notification is working in build 21782 version 4 of ROM. So its ought to work in version 3 as well. Let me check once.

Hi All,

- After using M2D 2.0 and CHome based ROMs, I am finding that CHome based ROMs are far more stable than M2D 2.0 ones.
- This seems obvious as M2D 2.0 is beta and leaked version for QVGA.

So my question to All is : Should I stop building ROMs with M2D 2.0 and default to CHome hence forth?

NOTE : Maintenance of kitchen for M2D 2.0 and CHome is becoming a pain for me. This is the main motivation behind the above question. :).

I don't think so... it's the first ROM with manila 2d that i really liked and, besides the bugs (as my home weather not updating as I like :P), it was nice if you don't stop building ROMs with M2D 2.0...

ps. I don't know if it's asking too much, but... I was wondering if it's not possible to cook a ROM with M2D 2.0 and the default 6.5 Screen...

Just tell me about this case ;)

Hey Hi,

nice rom...

Hey Hi,

- The component called "PACKAGE_MEGA_Resource_Proxy" seems to cause the high memory issue.
- I have removed it from the ROM. After this I am finding memory usage in stand-alone mode is ~45 - ~50 MB (which looks fine) on Elfin.
- Stay tuned for latest ROM (probably this weekend or early next week).

Hey Hi,

- I tried including these packages in ROM.
- However the ROM ceases to boot. As a matter of fact, it gave me nightmares as I was wondering why is the ROM not booting. It does not proceed beyond "Smart Mobility" screen :(.
- Having said that, I am sorry as I cannot include it my ROMs.

Edit : Probably you can find a .cab for these in the M2D 2.0 QVGA thread in windows application and themes forum OR check Paul_days thread for more information.

Hi All,

- Just updated the new ROM with M2D 2.0 and CHome.
- Set the home screen of your choice from M2D 2.0 or CHome.
- As usual, all the testing has been done on Elfin. Enthusiast can try on an Elf.

Known Issues :
- If whether on home tab does not update :
1. Check the post 3 first.
2. Still does not work, then search for Manila Home Weather (with Mort script) cab in whitealien's thread for M2D.

Note :
If you plan to use M2D 2.0 then remember to delete the deblogger registry entry.

Hey Hi,

Assuming you are using M2D 2.0, here is I would suggest you to do -
1. Install the Google Maps cab : I forgot to add it to ROM. Due to this the whether on Home tab of M2D 2.0 does not behave well. Try this and let us know if battery life improves or not.
2. If above does not work then, install the resource proxy cab from whitealien's M2D 2.0 thread. After this set the resource proxy registry in post 3 to 0. Then restart the phone. Again let us know if helps to improve the battery life.
3. Regarding Mobile Office, please install a cab for it. You can easily find the cab for it in this forum.

Hope this helps. Meanwhile I am working on battery life issue seen :).

Edit :
- If you are using Manila Home Weather Updater (with MortScript).cab from whitealien's thread then I think the mortscript in this cab eats the battery. This is because, it refreshes the home whether with whether data from home tab every 15 mins :(.
- Try removing this cab to see if it improves battery life.

- Attached is the mort script modified by me for Weather in Home Tab.
- I changed the its default time of 15 min to 24 hours (with the hope that it will eat less battery).

So the procedure now seems to be :
- Flash the ROM.
- Update the weather for your city in Weather tab.
- Goto Program Files\MortScript. Run the mortscript. This will register the mortscript extensions with the OS.
- Install the Manila Home Weather Updater (without MortScript).cab
- Copy the attached ManilaHomeWeather.mscr to \Windows\Startup.
- Soft reset.

Edit -
- I am almost convinced that the rapid battery drain seen in 21876_01 ROM is due to M2D 2.0 weather tab update mort-script.
- If I use CHome, the battery consumption is pretty normal.

Hi bro, your ROM is awesome!!! Please, could you cook an Italian version of it??? THX!!! :D
Hey Hi,

- Thanks for the feedback.
- However I will not be able to cook the Italian ROM. The simple reason being :
1. I don't know Italian. Even if I decide to use Google, the final strings in the ROM wont be 100% correct. Also there will be issues like, particular word/text does not fit into space provided in a particular application etc.
2. It is quite a pain to maintain multiple languages ROM folders.
- Instead, are you planning to cook your own ROMs? If yes, that will be the best thing to do. I can provide you help in this regards.
- Having said that, please note no offense is meant here. Hope you understand :).

Flashed 21876_01.

M2D works almost perfectly (after the trick with Google Maps :))
+ the bug with wrong message counter in SMS/Mail tabs is gone
+ overall impression is neater
- Home tab weather updates when it thinks the right time - even forced update does't always work
- slightly laggier, IMHO - but might be my misperception

Overall the ROM is nice as ever, but I somewhat don't get what are cleanRAM.cab, MortScript-4.2-PPC.cab for - they can easily be installed if needed, but they aren't everyday tools (for me, at least). And the PSShutXP version isn't the best around - also, it's not bound to power key long touch. As for Total Commander - I prefer Resco, even if it's paid software.
But all of this is me petty whining :) sure there are ppl who need just those pieces embedded.

One other drawback is that notificatins are popping up - previous versions hid them, wich is good when you use Rhodium Notification Enhancement (might be the next bit added to ROM? )

And - battery drain is _worse_ than older builds. They lasted for 1.5-to-2 days for me, and this one managed only 20hrs O_o. Probably just my use style, having pushmail always on...

cleanRAM.cab : It is a utility that helps to clean your phone's RAM. The reason I added it is -
1. It has 4 levels of clean up functionality.
2. One can schedule it as per his needs.
MortScript-4.2-PPC.cab : Mort script is a power scripting language which enables the user to configure his phone as per his taste. I believe, if one masters the mort script he can do anything with it.
Since some people use them and some won't, I added them as cabs rather than embedding them into ROM. As a result, it is easy to remove them.

One other drawback is that notificatins are popping up - previous versions hid them, which is good when you use Rhodium Notification Enhancement (might be the next bit added to ROM?)

Can you please elaborate more here?

Even I am wondering this as I only changed the XIP/SYS in between builds 21872 and 21876. I am looking into this more :). So hopefully next version will be better :D.

Hey Hi,

- I use the default system icons of resolution 90*90 (192 DPI) instead of 45*45 (96 DPI). So i believe I already use high resolution icons.

first of all, it's a great great rom!!

I agreed with saurabh88..

-"after restart messaging start automatically.." and u have to touch the screen to enable touchflo(manila)
- battery icon doesn't work at all, maybe u can make the settings managment like the onyx's one? i mean, like when you press one of the icons a new menu appears with 4 options ie: sound, battery, connections.. I really can't remmenber which were those options! xD
-"slow and clumsy scrolling...."
-"lag of time sync in manilla and default clock.."
-in titanium, when you tap a picture, it doesn't open with the htc album, just with the crappy wm pictures and videos
-"local weather also doesn't work, it shows "No weather data available". Tried so many times."

for now, thats all! the battery life i think is good, better than onyx 5 and running manila!

correct those things and it will be perfect..

Thanks a lot and sorry for my bad english!!

after restart messaging start automatically..

no task manager in titenium.
- Can you please elaborate more?
- I am not a big fan of titanium. So I have just added the plain CHome that comes with OS.
- If anyone needs enhancements like whether, favorite contacts, add/remove CHome pluggins etc then the cabs to do so are easily available :).

battery icon not working..
- I believe this is true regression from the last ROM.
- I will look into this. Nice catch though :).

lag of time sync in manilla and default clock..
- Again I need more information on this.
- However please note that, M2D 2.0's home screen has a clock flipping feature. Here whenever you come to home screen, the time it shows is 1 hour and 2 seconds behind the current time. After showing this for few seconds, it flips the clock to current time. E.g. assuming current time is 12:53 then, when you come to home screen you will see the time as 11:51 for 2 seconds and then it will flip to actual time.
- If you are refering to this as time lag then, you will have to live with it as HTC feels this to be a nice features :D.

slow and clumsy scrolling....
- If active sync is connected then this can be seen sometimes. Not sure of the cause though.

Hey Thanks for the review :).

in titanium, when you tap a picture, it doesn't open with the htc album, just with the crappy wm pictures and videos
- I will look into this. Having said that please note that I am not a big fan of Titanium so I just include whatever comes with OS as is.

"local weather also doesn't work, it shows "No weather data available". Tried so many times."
- Please refer the previous posts in this thread to get the solution :).

Rest I have commented a reply to saurabh88's post. Hope that is fine :).

First of all thanks for the review :). Please see my comments inline :
- Even I am observing this issue since long from the days when WM 6.5 builds started to become available.
- However this is seen with older version of M2D based ROMs as well. I am not sure if anyone has found a solution for this or not.

Audio Manager :
- I believe whenever you go to audio tab of M2D (old or new) it invokes the audio manager process which remains in memory even after going to different screen.
- To prove this theory, I did a small experiment as below :
1. Soft reset the phone.
2. Open the task manager and note down the current exe list.
3. Go to audio tab of M2D.
4. Again open the task manager and note down the current exe list. Here the audio manager exe is seen as loaded.
- Having said that I don't know if it is possible to auto kill it.

Invoke Messaging at start :
- No solution till today. I will keep searching.
- Meanwhile if anyone finds out something related to this, please let me know :D.

Battery usage :
- I believe if you are using the manila home whether mort script then battery is bound to be consumed more.
- This is because the default mort script keeps on refreshing the home whether every 15 mins.
- I have attached a mort script few pages back which changes this interval to 24 hours :D so that it eats less battery.
- Also I am working on recommding some of modules in ROM so as to get more virtual memory in slot 0. I believe this should help to improve many things.

- I have cooked a ROM with M2D 2.0.1917.1723 that has appearance similar to M2D 2.0.1919.1432.
- The only difference is there is no weather on Home screen.
- Personally I find this very useful as you have call history there. Everything else is same but with better battery life :D.
Attached are few screen shots.

Do let me if anyone is interested in it. I will upload it in the new year :D.

- Regading the bugs, I am able to fix only the video (3gp/mp4) files not playing.
- I am not sure I will be able to fix this "Messaging invoked at reboot" in recent future.

Hi All,

- Just uploaded the new ROM with M2D 2.0.1917.1723 which looks like 2.0.1919.1432. I have just changed the graphics here.
- Also recommed some modules to files in SYS/OEM so as to free some virtual memory.
- The battery life is good, ROM is fast and stable. Give it a try and let me know the feedback.

I will actively working on resolving the messaging and battery icon issue with few senior members in this forum. Hope to fix them soon.

Hi chota_shivaji,

really great work! I tried your ROM the last days and I love it. (Version 2 now)

Is there a possibility to (simply) adjust the display backlight? I had that option as little program in my original Win 6.1. (I still have the ROM here.)
I had a shortcut to it at my program list and could simply click on it. Then it switched through the 4 different backlight states without any menus oder other things.

Am I blind or how do you handle that?

- I am able to make a call. I don't know what your problem is. You need to identify it yourself.
- I generally test all the basic functionalities. So I will never upload a ROM from which you cannot make a call. This is because, it is the most basic functionality of phone.

not able to click on battery icon
The issue is found. It is registry setting. Check the post#3 for details.

not able to create new mail account from manilla tab...
Again I don't know what is the problem on your side. You need to find it yourself.

- Mind well I upload the ROMs as I feel whatever I get from this forum should be given back to it in some or the other form.
- Also it is very tough to create a ROM which suits to needs of all the USERS. Even the OEMs like HTC are unable to do so. Because if they would have been successful, this forum would not be so much popular for PDA/PPC/Smartphones.

something else, can be used the mortscript to solve the problem with the debbug and the battery icon? i think you could make a program to delete and edit those registry keys, i don't relly Know jejej i'm just thinking a way to not do the same in every hard reset or reflash! i would try to make it by myself but don't know anything about programming..

Hi there,

- I did not set the ringtone from the path you specified here. I will see what the issue is and get back.
- Actually the fix for battery was passed on to me by dsixda after I released the ROM. So thats why you need to do manually till the next release.
- I will add this to default registry of shell in next ROM.

I hope that answered your concern :).

Hi there,

- Can you please elaborate more on this?
- Here is my understanding of this : You have a ROM (WM 6.1) which has a program that allows you to adjust the backlight. You are not able to find a similar thing in my ROM.
- To adjust the back light you can go to : Start -> System -> Power -> Backlight tab.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

yes, adjusting works of course. But I mean another thing. Look at the two pictures I attached (only for understanding, I found them in internet).

As you can see, you can change the backlight dimming with only _one_ click on the icon. It switches through the 4 different dim-states of the phone. Second click would change it to the next state and so on. Thats really cool and easy.

I tried to extract this shortcut out of the old ROM file, but had no success. (I found the icon file with the symbol only.) Currently I use a shortcut to backlight.exe in Windows folder. But thats not the same... Only one click I need! ;-) Hope you understand.

i've have just seen and used it in WM 6 and 6.1 but not in Wm 6.5 and 6.5.x, the options have changed and the localizations of them too.. so i think that it's why your shortcut does not work! it would need to create a new app for that!

- I agree with detroyerx that we need this application to modify it according to WM 6.x layout.
- Do you have it with you? If yes, please pass it on.
- If not, any idea from where we can get it?
- If you have the ROM in which the application is there booted and you know which exe is invoked by clicking it then, try to copy the shortcut and exe from \windows to desktop via active sync.

Hi chota_shivaji and detroyerx,

I tried to do it that way, but it seems to be integrated in this HTC application you can see on the first picture. It is called "HTC home plugin" (downloadable via Google) and its kind of former version of the new Manila. I searched in the phone, but no possibility to look up which path or command is behind the shortcut. I found the icon file only. I also tried to extract it from the ROM (with this kitchen you can download in this forum). But there was also nothing I could find.

Maybe you are better then me. Maybe the thing with "HTC home plugin" helps (therein it must be somewhere). Additionally here is this older ROM, with the functionallity included.

well i knew it was part of the htc home plugin and i think it is obsolet now, thought you have a program apart for doing that and a shortcut in the manila!

so you need a whole new program or a plugin or shortcut or whatever that every time u tap it, just doing that, show you nothing and change the backlight right? well i'm not a programmer so can't help you with that.. sorry.. hope someone could! you should request it in the windows mobile app or develop and hacking forums :)

Hello there,

yes, destoyerx, you've got it right! :)

And concerning your post scriptum quote... Is it very difficult to provide different languages? (posted this in another thread already, but got no answer)

Because as I saw for the Mega there are different languages for the shipped ROM's. Isn't it possible to use these ROMs for the languages? Maybe the language files can be extracted? Then we could use it for the Chota-ROM (it needs a name ;)).
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=579115

For me german is most interesting, but perfect would be, to have all the shipped languages availible for download.

What do you think? Possible? Does it make sense?

Hi there Chris,

Yeah! it needs a name! xD let's call it Chota-Rom from now on! :D

You know, i was investigating to give you a tecnical answer but honestly still don't understand very well the things about cooking xD but i'm really really sure that is not possible.

Is something like this: if you work with an english sys well you obtain a english rom.. or if you work with an german sys you obtain a german rom!

The language can't be extracted... but it seems it could be translated. If you look in the dsixda's onyx thread, there are links to language packs that are translations only but just for specific roms, in this case, the onyx's ones.

so.. that's what i know, or think i know xD hope it helps you...

if i'm wrong please someone correct me.. :)

- Further more, each package in a SYS/OEM is associated with its own language packs.
- These language packs are numbered like : 0409 = WWE (world wide english), 0C0A = Italian (probably) etc.
- So to change the language of ROM to other than WWE, I think the cook need to use the appropriate language pack.

Having said that, I am not sure if it is possible to cook the ROM with 2 languages for e.g. WWE and German. This needs more investigation.

I looked up the Mega shipped german ROM as I linked few posts ago. In there the MUI files are included (Language 0407 german). It is easy to extract them. Each exe/system file has a corrosponding MUI file or folder. I think if we find an equal version of Windows 6.5 21882 with the language files for qvga, we could use these files. Others done this already, e. g. for swedish language.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551209

I would help you chota. I have no experience with cooking yet, but with programming of software in general. What do you think, should we go for it? I think the users would really love to have the first (free!) Elf-ROM which is available in several languages.

Hi Chris,

- The points you have mentioned are very much valid.
- However I belive it is of atmost importance to first check if it is possible to have 2 or more languages in a single ROM.
- This is because, if it would have been easily possible why would HTC (or any other OEM) would release a different ROM for different languages? Also the packages Microsoft provides are different for different languages.
- Moreover assuming that it is possible to have a single ROM with 2 or more languages, it needs to be investigated how to switch between them?

Having said that, I think it will be much easy to cook a german ROM yourself. I could help you here, provided you are ready to read a lot and face loads of initial frustation. Please note no offence is meant here :).

:) I understand it now, thanks for the clarifications!

so

- Chota build a rom(ENglish)
- (assuming we have those files-Mui pack) we just overwrite the existing files and then
- we have rom in our prefered language(German,Spanish,...)

that would be great!

I really does not have problem with the english rom but if Chota provides his rom with Language packs... that would be icredible! just hopes it does not bring unnecessary problems which we have to deal after...

by the way, how are you going in the kitchen?! :) did you find and fix the ringtone's bug that i mentioned you earlier? :D :)

Cheers!

Edit: Just saw your post Chota, well that's ok! then you will help me to build my own Spanish Rom later! xD

@Chota,

No, you are right, different language in one ROM - to diffucult.

I think simply the same ROM, but cooked with different languages would be perfect. E.g.:
-Download New Chota ROM 6.5 XXXX ENG
-Download New Chota ROM 6.5 XXXX GER
-Download New Chota ROM 6.5 XXXX SPA
...

Maybe I could cook it, yes, but I think it is much easier for you to do this. Bescause you know everythink important already. If you dont have the time or dont want to do that, I try it for myself and would be happy if you help me. :-)

@detroyerx
If we get it with GER to work, putting SPA instead of it should not be the problem... :-D

I think we can use the original shipped HTC Mega ROM. There we have the languages.

Here is my take on your proposal -

1. Due to time constraints, it will not be possible for me to develop a ROM for GER/ITA etc. The reason being it needs to be done from scratch. Also since I dont know GER/ITA etc, it does not makes sense to me to cook these ROMs as I will not be in position to fix the bugs in them.

2. However I will provide you with any help needed. Also I will provide you with the OEM that I use. All you need to do is use the appropriate language pack and generate the ROM. Same applies for SYS as well. And there is no language for XIP as it is hardware dependent.

Having said that, please note that no offence is meant here :). It is the time which I don't have much (you must have noticed, I have not cooked yet for WM 6.5.x builds).

Hey Hi,

- Actually there is no reason as such to remove the internet sharing from the ROM.
- No one complained about it being removed.
- Also I don't use it the way you mentioned i.e using the phone as modem to connect the PC to internet.

I will see if I can add it in next ROM. Also please let me know how to test it? If you are ready to test then let me know that as well.

Regarding RAM usage, here are my observations till today :
1. GWES.exe from newer builds eats way too much of memory than the previous ones.
2. The new lock screen of WM 6.5 also eats memory.
3. On top of these we add M2D 2.0 which is again memory hungry.
People here have tried to optimise it as much as possible. But there is a limit to it due to the underlying the OS components.

Hey Thanks for the feedback. I think I will post the new ROM in new year :D.

I think following bugs needs to be fixed :
1. Battery icon on task bar not working
2. Cannot play videos
3. Cannot set aac/midi as ringtones
4. Messaging invoked at reboot
Hi All,

Quick update :
- From the above list, I am able to fix only 2 issues : battery tapping and video playback.
- I am having a tough time to fix : messaging invoked at reboot.
- I tried an application which kills the windows mentioned in the config file. So I edited and added this window messaging. But still no luck. Looking more into it.

what ebout working with the 21889?

:)
- I tried building ROM out of build 21889. However it is no good.
- I mean the source from which I downloaded the SYS/XIP seems corrupted.
- The ROM is not able to run the auto customisation at first boot. It is also missing some important short cuts from start menu. Also the icons looks horible.

I am trying to build a ROM out of 21888. Lets see how it goes.

Hi All,

- Just uploaded the ROM with new build 21888.
- It is fast, consumes less memory and battery. Memory consumption is as follows :
CHome without Activesync : ~35 MB
M2D 2.0 without Activesync : ~40 MB
- I have removed office and default WM 6.5 lock screen. But the old style lock screen is still available and works fine. I suggest to use S2U2 as your lock screen as it is fast, simple and consumes less memory as compared to WM 6.5 lock screen. Besides that it has many other useful things in it. Just don't enable the caller-id of S2U2.
- Also added Internet sharing (but not tested).

However, I am not able to resolve the following issues :
1. Messaging invoked at reboot (sometimes).
2. Auto-kill audiomanager.exe
I am looking more to fix them :).

Hey Hi,

- I will look into this issue this week. Hope it a minor fix as the underlying functionality is fine.
- BTW, any idea if it was seen on any of the previous releases?
- Also is this seen only during the customization stage after the 1st boot-up or always?

Hey Hi,

If I understand correctly, you are facing issues of weather/phone call on 21888.01. However they are not seen on 21888.02.
If yes then, unfortunately I don't have any clue regarding these issues seen in 21888.01. Also I never observed them as such.

- Office included in 218xx builds is older version of it.
- In the newer builds latest version 2010 of office is available.
- Hence I removed the older one altogether so that the user can decide which version of office suits him/her the most.

Just uploaded the new ROM for build 21890. Mirror is comming shortly.

Issues Fixed/Resolved/Not observed :
1. Tapping battery icon on home screen takes to battery setting now.
2. Could not reproduce the blank screen while entering the PIN (simple as well as complex alpha-numeric).

There are 2 versions of M2D 2.0 from Mega :
2.0.1917.1723 : Does not have flipping clock and weather on home tab.
2.0.1919.1432 : Have flipping clock and weather on home tab.

What I have done?
- Use the binaries from 2.0.1917.1723
- Use the graphics from 2.0.1919.1432

Why this was done?
- 2.0.1919.1432 eats loads of memory and battery.
- 2.0.1917.1723 is quite stable and has call-histroy on home screen.

- I think I found out why 21890.01 is not able to connect to GPRS/data connection.
- It is due to porting error on my part in which I forgot to include the WWAN folder in the SYS.
- After adding this component, I am able to connect to internet via my default GPRS connection multiple times.

I will see if I can make a .cab to fix this issue. I will upload the new ROM sometime this week.

- Sorry but I still could got get what you meant to say?
- If you want the cab for advanced configuration utility then, you can get it from \Windows folder on the device.

Hi All,

- Due to some reason, I am not able to prepare the cab to fix this issue.

- However, could someone follow the below procedure and let me know if it works :
1. Extract the attached WWAN.zip to some folder on PC.
2. Copy the wwan.dll to \Windows of phone via active sync.
3. Open the registry editor and add the following registry entires :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WWN]
"Dll"="wwan.Dll"
"Prefix"="WWN"
"Index"=dword:0
"Order"=dword:9
"Keep"=dword:1
"Flags"=dword:2
4. Soft reset.

NOTE :
1. You need to create the new key called WWN at [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn].
2. You will also need create the new entries under this ("Dll", "Prefix", "Index", "Order", "Keep", "Flags").
3. "Dll" and "Prefix" should be of type string while remaining others should be of type dword.

Can somebody please generate a cab for this?
Hope this helps :D.

- Attaching the cab to fix this issue. Do not forget to do a soft reset after installation, if it does not ask to do so :).
- Please note that I have not tested this. So please try and let me know if you face any errors.

- Attaching a few screen shots.

Do let me know if anybody is interested in trying it out :).

- That is due to a spelling mistake on my part (fexlpore.exe should be fexplore.exe).
- Please change the following registry :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila2D\Home]
"SK2Cmd"="\\Windows\\fexplore.exe"

Hey Hi,

Need some more information here :
- What do you mean by turn off/on?
- Is it complete power down or just suspend?
- Did you ensured that "auto time synchronization" in "settings->personal->phone->GSM/UMTS settings" is not checked?

Hey Hi,

- It could be because, I generally remove all the stuff related to Windows Mobile Widgets.
- I found that they eat lots of (storage) memory.
- Can you please tell me why do you need them?

Hey Hi,

- Ok. Do you know if this issue was seen in older versions of ROM?
- If you could provide me with this info then, it might be possible for me to check the error. :).

Completely shut down the device overnight (battery is still intact). Then turned it on next morning. And notice that the clock was delayed by 15 minutes or so. But it happended not everytime the device was total shut down.

Hi,

the room looks almost perfect. it runs smooth and doesn't drain more battery than other rom's i've flashed.

The most important thing not working is exchange pushmail. I connected to my exchange server and appointments + contacts got synched. However, no email is gettting synched. Not even the folders.
AActive synch tells me, that it's looking for folders and changes, can't find anythiin and quits.

Any fix available?

thanks,
mc

- Office included in 218xx builds is older version of it.
- In the newer builds latest version 2010 of office is available.
- Hence I removed the older one altogether so that the user can decide which version of office suits him/her the most.

Hope this ansers your query :).

Hi Chota
how can i install office in this build in as it really important as most of my documents are now not excessable. I find this ROM as the best till now and i dont want to change the same just because of office. Can you please provide a cab file of mobile Office.
