Ok, noob here.
I have owned the Universal for nearly 3 years, but recently tried to connect to my work's network, only to get a certificate error, which my ict coordinator said was down to lack of wpa2/TKIP2 support.

So, a couple of quick questions:
Would the hack I remember reading about that enabled 802.11g work?
If i did have to flash/hack/rom(Don't know the correct terminology ), is there any danger; and if I did completley gunk it up, would a hard reset cure it?

Thanks in advance :D

Welcome to forums

As long as you follow the instructions all should be fine doing a ROM upgrade
I have flashed so many times:cool:
Have a deep read here:

Good luck,

OK, thanks!
Just a couple more questions...

Would enabling 802.11g be sufficient?

If I flash, is the hard reset to wm5 (softkeys+reset) lost?

You do need to read a bit about flashing.

The hard reset keys will remain the same but once you flash, if you hard reset, you will get only the wm you've chosen when you flashed.

To get back to wm5 you will need a wm5 ROM and flash again, but if you do, you will change back to the beginning.

Actually you should read about each available ROM to see which one has the features you would like to have and then ask questions on the respective threads if it is not clear it has got the features you need.

Hope this is clear as mud and get you thinking some more about what you are doing. Don't rush things. It can be costly.
