This is the first 6.1 Rom with Manila 2.5
It's BETA and should be seen as a PROOF OF CONCEPT

Don't forget the Hard-Reset after flashing!!!

Reduce Album memory consumption:

Opening the HTC Album almost always gives me a "not enough memory" message. I noticed that Album is set to ask for 18 Megs of memory to start, so I played with several values and arrived to 4 Megs as optimal. So here's the tweak:

First, make sure HTC Album is not running, then:

In the registry, navigate to:
[HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\]

Look for the following value:
required_init_memory

Change to: 4096

Enjoy Album everytime you as for it...

- TF3D is fast!
- Nice base because you're using Gen.Y kitchen :) :)
- I am testing how the memory evolves. My memory stays at 75% now, nice for the moment :)
- No enlarge start menu ? :(
- Notification enhancements shows a wrong battery level ?
- With removing some tabs (Footprints, Music, Photos, Stocks) the memory is great : 58% o_O
- Why include PIM Backup ?
- Total Commander is in german. (Fix attached below, the error is showing one time, no worry)
- When you push the task manager button on the today, the clock flips automatically without reason ?
EDIT =
- the message tab on a contact causes TF3D restart.
- Location Settings are broken.
- Quick links on internet tab don't work, maybe because opera isn't include on the ROM ?

firstly.... good rom!

bugs so far..

SMS problems reported earlier, I can receive SMS messages but it does crash TF3D when I try and reply.
Can't set up email accounts as reported earlier.
Internet tab Does'nt launch browser even with Opera installed (maybe a reg hack?)
no animated wallpaper included?
battery does seem to drain pretty quickly too
Location tab in settings gave an error (bottom buttons turned to squares?)

on the plus side..

location worked fine for me, so i've got the nice animated weather on my home screen :)
GPS connected quickly with IGO 8
The photo tab changes nicely into Landscape mode and looks really cool
Calender - when you click on a day it gives you the weather for that day too :)
wallpaper on every tab works nicely too

I'm sure the above will be sorted in the next release so a BIG thank you for the rom so far... i'm gonna be keeping this for a few days to test it properly (only had 20 minutes with it so far).

Having reviewed this ROM for a few hours the only problem i am having is opening Emails, Music Tab which we know about already but i have no issues with SMS or volume buttons freezing the device as being reported by other users

Oh I can't send SMS! inbox messages work. I find text messages service center number not correctly and change it than make soft reset, but nothing changed.
On the "6.5 SUN X MANILA 2.5 beta Rom" sms work good but winmo 6.5 and manila 2.5 on that Rom work very very SLOW :(. I want this 6.1win Rom, pleas help!

Manila 2.5 is amazing, I'd keep using this ROM but for some reason texts aren't sending, they just move to the outbox (rather than sent items) when using the standard WM SMS, bit lol, since the Manila one doesn't work.
Hopefully in the next release it will work :)

And as asked above is the 1919 build coming to 6.1?

Besides the SMS problem the Rom is very good for a Beta and good for daily use. It's also quite fast! Rom usage after half a day 77%

No, can't get this working either, as soon as I try to add a link it opens the page in opera and doesn't create the link :(

apart from the email and internet links, i'm loving this rom, definately stable enough for daily usage..:):)

Also, I tried the 6.5 Sun X rom and in my opinion it's not as stable as this, I had to soft reset a few times after the phone locked-up. I know it's by the same team so hopefully they'll get both the 6.1 and 6.5 roms perfect but for now i'm sticking with the 6.1 rom

Edit: just updated my weather too, and it's raining, i'd never seen the rain animation wallpaper before and it's good, little drops of rain failing across the screen .... proper eye-candy:):)

1. Calendar tab doesn't show the appointments anymore, although I can see them with Calendar app (Start->Programs->Calendar).

2. Quick link on Home Tab doesn't scroll. Only six quick links can be add.

3. Music Tab doesn't work.

4. Bright doesn't work manually. But works with WakuTask.

5. Can't add quick links on Internet Tab (In fact, I think we can add, but we can't see the links' name)

Works like a charm report: :cool:


a. No problem with Volume button (for me, at least).

b. With 5 tabs only (Home, Calendar, Photo, Weather and Settings), RAM memory is very fine.

c. Both Opera 9.5 and 9.7 beta works like a charm.

d. iGO8 works super. Fast and stable.

e. GSroll works like a charm (please, do NOT update to WM 6.5, cos it will not work... ;) )

f. Keyboard is great (vibration and sound w/o problems).

g. Internet Sharing works fine.

h. Clock flip on Home Tab rox!

i. Photo Tab works very fine.

j. All options on Calendar Tab (Week, Day, Month, Agenda, Year) are fine - only bug reported above. Scrolling this tab works very smooth too.


For a BETA version, the ROM is absolutely fast and stable.

Wow.. that means twitter tab? With the sms fix (which I thought deactivates manila SMS, but is doesn't and work now) So it's besides eye candy (besides a few minor things, like email) a fully daily rom!

Bug Report:
I used Advanced Config 3.3 to deactivate Threaded SMS.
I'm unable to send any SMS. After i press SEND, the SMS just goes to the outbox, but is not sent.

The ROM otherwis is fantastic. Manila 2.5 (Sun) has given my Diamond a new life..

Hhm, the SMS and Mail problems come from the earlier beta version of HTC Messaging. So simply Bugs in the software itself I think. I'll integrate a newer build in the next release.

Hhm, the SMS and Mail problems come from the earlier beta version of HTC Messaging. So simply Bugs in the software itself I think. I'll integrate a newer build in the next release.

Email FIX (Credit to RelicXII):

Go the following Key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Inbox\Templates\IPM\Note]
Change the following value from:
"Read"="\\Windows\\HTC_read_note.htm"
TO:
"Read"="\\Windows\\read_note.htm"

OR download & execute the attached file (email template fix).

Volume fix:
I've had this volume problem before with other roms, I believe the cause is actually the Top Bar icons. Anyhow, to fix whatever it is, install the attached TD2-Volume and restart...voila.

Thenks for the bug reports!

Since this ROM was a "PROOF OF CONCEPT", I will not release any update/bugfix cabs, because it would be too much at the moment.

As we see the test was really successfull! So I'm working now on a more stable release with newer versions of all HTC apps and Manila 2.5.1919.

I hope to release the new ROM before next week. So stay tuned!

for the alarm to work I had to go through Start > Settings rather than using the shortcut on tf3d home screen... once i set it manually using the winmo ui, tf3d could see that the alarm was now enabled and for which time

Run the cab for SMS and reboot, you will need to go through to All Messages and then reply/open up the message and reply... if i click on the sms to reply it opens the HTC mail, which fails to send

Yes, Sir! Very much so. Perhaps you should backup your PIM info with the included pimbackup, and Hard-reset. This clears out weird problems normally (i.e. corrupt files, 2GB root size, phone doesn't ring, etc... all of which I have experienced before I started hardresetting like a good soldier.

OK, I have just run a test for you as follows:
- I used the calendar tab to setup 3 new appointments, one for today, tomorrow, and after tomorrow.

Results:

1. In the calendar tab -Agenda View- I can see all 3 appointments+ all real appointments I have afterwards. In Home screen I can see only my next appointment (test for today).

2. After deleting the appointment for Today, I now see the Tomorrow appointment in my Home screen. In the calendar tab -Agenda view- I can see the 2 test appointments left (Tomorrow and AfterTomorrow) + my real appointments.

3. After deleting the appointment for Tomorrow, I now DO NOT see the AfterTomorrow appointment in my Home screen. In the calendar tab -Agenda view- I can see the 1 test appointment left (AfterTomorrow) + my real appointments.

Conclusion:
Only the next Appointment taking place Today or Tomorrow will show up in the Home screen (one appointment at a time).

Also:
Doing a similar test for the calendar tab -Agenda view- resulted in the following conclusion:
Only appointments dated within the next 7 days will show up in the Agenda View.

This concludes how the Home Screen & Calendar Tab (Agenda View) react to appointments on my phone; Also, I have not applied any tweaks other than the SMS and Email tweaks.

I read somewhere that Footprints requires specific hardware to work... I got the impression that this meant something other than GPS and therefore it could never work on the Diamond. Is this true? Great job on the port and ROM btw, very pleased with how far along it is and, most encouragingly, how good the RAM usage is :D

Wrong. Footprints just uses GPS photo. I've seen it work perfectly on a Touch Cruise, wich is older model than our Diamond.

Weird, but at the first time that I sync, the appointments had appeared in Moth/Week/Agenda Caledar tab.

But, after a while, all of them gone.

In fact, I can see them if I run Calendar app (Start->Program->Calendar), but not in FT3D.

so after re-flashing I was again able to use the volume control but couldn't see the alarm that I'd created, that was only until I'd set my location (coincidence?)

i was able to install an application this time! calendar even shows the test appointment I'd set (which works) with the reminder!!

my personal route to success with this rom (maybe it was a fluke):
flash, hard reset, hard reset, re-flash
(& don't forget the SMS patch & language pack for TCommander)

hope this helps you guys.. BTW this is an awesome ROM!! I didn't think i'd ever go back to WM6.1 but hey... it's worth it for manila 2.5!

Sounds like you've got your hands full all the way... hell of a job you're doing, bro!

Personally, I find wm6.5 incurabley distasteful, but really, if the shortest path to the full port is must be on 6.5 then that's that! Ultimately, having come thus far, we all trust that you'll make it work whichever way is best. Just don't hurt yourself while doing it ;)

you're doing a hell of a job!
I'm still pretty sure that wm6.1 is the best start for manila 2.5.
I'm using the rom for almost a week and mem usage is really great.. much better than wm6.5.

So the only real problem is the datepicker...
For the connectionsetup you could use some 3rd party app...

Ah...yes, these are typical symptoms of the "Backlash effect". You need to flash a stock rom then, after the & initial setup is done, hard-reset. Now flash Sun.Y, and after the first boot & initial setup is done HARD-RESET. Also, restore only PIMbackups.

Well, unil kisja is back to answer, the standard way to disable HTC dialers is as follows:

In the Registry, Navigate to:

[HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin]

And change the value "Enabled" from 0x1 to 0x0

My friend, I have no further advice for you. However, I noticed that you're using an older Radio, and since this rom is based on Gen.Y-D2 which uses Rilphone & Radio 1.13.25.24, you might want to upgrade that. Of course, upgrading Radion doesn't hardreset your phone despite looking scary. Then again, you might want to hardreset anyhow.

Opening the HTC Album almost always gives me a "not enough memory" message. I noticed that Album is set to ask for 18 Megs of memory to start, so I played with several values and arrived to 4 Megs as optimal. So here's the tweak:

First, make sure HTC Album is not running, then:

Look for the following value:
required_init_memory

Change to: 4096

Enjoy Album everytime you as for it...

Brother, a couple of things to consider:

- Of all the ROMs I have used on my diamond (since the first ever cooked diamond ROM) yours is by far the FASTEST and smoothest ever. I don't know how you do it mate, but its INSANE; keep it up!

- Is it technically possible to get the new Manila mail tab working in 1918? It is VERY stylish.

- Can you cook in a working WindowsLive? Syncing hotmail is, at best, erratic in the current ROM. Most of us have hotmail, and radically new builds of WindowsLive are unlikely for now.

- Gen.Y-D2 R2 & R3 have problems with HTC TaskMgr & Volume control; you seem to have migrated those problems into your ROM as well.

not too bothered about manila 1919, would be very happy with a fully working 1918, can you tell me if the following has been fixed in the new beta:

Internet page shortcuts (didn'nt work for me even after I installed opera, although i did only install the 9.7beta cab of Opera)

By far this is the best ROM around. Really fluid for the everyday use.
The current version of manila works great and is very charming. Fixed the SMS/mail issues by searching the thread. Resizing the music tab and some other minor issues (like editing contacts) would make this manila version perfect.

I also agree that this rom is very charming nice and smooth. The only bugs to fix for a dairy use are the windows player screen to let stop the music and the contact editing.

The rom seems great, but when I adjust my settings, install my programs it sometimes just crashes or freezes. When I perfom a soft-reset, it acts like a hard-reset and I can start all over again. It keeps me busy for 2 nights now and it bugs me a lot!!

Someone experiences the same problems and got a solution?? I love this New Manilla...but those resets are really annoying.

I've had exactly the same problem, my diamond kept on freezing and hard resetting. I solved it using the definitive MTTY thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290)

i've had the same problem before, the hard reset when you restart your phone is not likely to be the ROM itself but a problem with your device, try using MTTY to "clear" your device ROM & once you've done this you shouldn't experience this resetting issue.

Wow, the speed improvement and smoothness of TF3D 2.5 is really impressive. I love it from the first second! :-D

You added BG in all Tabs, that´s pretty cool. But by using the animated weather all other tabs got the default background image and that one is really ugly. Is it the standard bg of Manila 2.5 or did you compress it a bit to much?

After a few minutes of testing I´m very happy I gave this rom another try. It´s running so much better than the first beta and it´s much closer to a perfect manila-port.

Edit: The contacts cards / phone numbers got screwed up. Instead of showing numbers they show [][][][], so there´s no way to make a call. The contacts tab and favorites are useless by now. Making a call straight out of the dialer works. The Images in the Footprint tab need to be resized. In the footprint menu there´s one tab icon invisible and needs to be fixed too. Btw I´m not using footprints anyway so no big deal. :-)

same here on the german beta 2. I have also big problems with the people tab/contact manager its not possible to see any contacts detail....................not even if i create a new contact!!!!

Yes I did a MTTY before the flash + hard reset, also having the same issues with WiFi not connecting, and contacts screwed up. Plus other issues people have noted above.
Other than those issues, it's looking a great beta!!

Yes I can confirm a reset (reset button, not just a software power off and on) fixed it temporarily. Then using com mgr to disable and re-enable it gets stuck again.

Update: actually it is connecting ok now, but the wifi icon is constantly doing its searching thing.

Maybe try a Soft Reset? Do you get some error during installation?

I confirm Bruno, editing a contact give a blank screen (soft reset doesn't help)

I get the same error here :( (but now i can see the contacts info) ALSO I can turn on wifi and connect but the wifi icon keeps on spinning

Well im surprised with this ROM, after install it and install bugfixes...works nice...

Only i have this issues:

1. The integration with facebook doesnt update events or photos from contacts, so doesnt work.
2. Im still with troubles with windows live after installed the fix or after installed the last update from windows live...
3. In general while you going in to deep there are some minor issues...this ROM is non fully ported...but almost...
4. What is the point to have in Settings.Connections.Account Manager...Logged in at Facebook, Twitter and Youtube if you cannot use this thru the TF 2.5?
