Unlocking trouble

I have a HTC Touch that's locked to the provider Telcel from Mexico. I tried putting my new sim card in and it asks for a pin code. I punch it in but it says "Estado de SIM desconocido" before going to a new screen that says "Sim No autorizada, por favor ingrese una Sim de Telcel e intente de nuevo." It's basically telling me that it will only accept sims from telcel. is there any way around this? I managed to get the unlock code following the procedure on the forum but there's nowhere for me to put it in.
