update my ROM

hi,

i am using Asus p527 Windows Mobile 6.1. Its ROM date as mentioned is 2007/12/20. the version number is V4.1.14-WWE. My question is can i update my ROM to a Newer version if that is avalaible or it is not necessary to update it?. i am new to these WM mobiles. So do not know much about them.
