Hi!
My friend bought an XDA II and he wants to upgrade it from WinMo 2003. How can he do it?
I searched the forum, but couldn't find any topic describing the process.
Can someone help us?

Hi ClioRS
Just upgraded my xda 11 last month and new to all this so and ittook me weeks to find out what to do and how to do it, and i have been in it for 20 years/////. So thought i would shorten your searching time.
As I said I am new to all this but a good rom is the wm 6.1 Dark Lord by xda developer "ATHER".
I have been using it for a month now and its very stable, (I will have to donate some £ to him).
When you download the RAR file from his thread, shown at the bottomof this message. All the instructions are zipped into the RAR, as well as all the upgrade files.
Please find Athers upgade "Newbie instructions" below. Takes about 30 minutes to clean and upgrade the Rom.
Ather's Newbie instructions:
Start your device in bootloader mode by pressing and holding down:
DPad + PowerButton + ResetButton
After a second release ResetButton, then release the rest of them.
Your screen will show word "Serial" at the top.
You are in bootloader mode now.
Place your device in the cradle, ensuring that the cradle
is plugged directly into a USB port on your PC and not to a hub
and that the power supply is connected to the cradle.
It is also a good idea to disable any screensavers on your desktop PC.
Once your device is cradled, the text on the screen will change to "USB".
Run HimaUpgradeUt.exe
Sit back and wait for the Congratulations screen to be displayed
on your PC. Your device will still be displaying 'Upgrading ROM Image, please wait....',
but as long as the PC says it is done, then its all OK.
Detach your device from the cradle.
Now you have to hardreset your device.
Press ResetButton and hold down CameraButton + RecordButton.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use RecordButton, change values with CameraButton)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
When done, press DPad and wait until OS starts.
I have included Athers instructions above because I know I was lost and took me two weeks to find and understand what was going to happen to my beloved phone.

you also need Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 installed on your computer and the HimaUpgradeUt_noID.exe does not get on with vista or windows 7 xp sp3 is the best [can be run on x32 bit vista but needs some playing about with the drivers]once you have got it installed restart computer then follow the above instructions.
u cant go wrong!:rolleyes:

Hi. I'm having trouble, I was just trying to upgrade my girlfriends XDA II from my Windows7 pc without realizing it wouldn't work. The XDA now only shows "USB v1.01". And the upgrade utility fails to connect to it. I have access to a pc with Vista 32bit. Do you know what it is that needs doing to the drivers to make it work on Vista 32bit?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
-Scott
