I had concluded the WM6.5.X firmware for Traveler 600, 117, 127 and 137, flashing through USB connection, as the original firmware.
In this version there is a lot of new visual and performance improvements. Stable so far.

Since this phone will be in the "evaluation" stages for a week or two, I can volunteer to help Beta test; however...

I need as much information as possible regarding how to restore to previous ROM(s), and with your recommended FULL backup/restore as well as auto install product recommendation(s).

You need a Vista PC and the 6.1 ROM from the Pharos website. Obviously you need to restore your data manually in each case.

Well Erick has done it again. This is another great, stable rom for the Traveler 127. the touch scrolling in this rom has been improved and overall is more stable than pervious versions. Erick is still working on get the video dailer skin working but for the time being he has place the windows default dailer skin which is fully functional. If don't like it simply flash back to Pharos's wm6.1 version, but I'm sure you wont.

Hi Erick, I have a problem with GPS for the latest ROM (27 June) for Pharos 127, My GPS receiver is not recognized any more.... (where my 6.1 ROM form the Pharos website worked)...Have you got any idea about that?

Are there still issues with battery life, like there is with the pharos-supplied roms?

You can try it and report me any bug. So far so good the current roms is smooth and stable and has no battery issues.

So far, so good! Only issue was I had to re-download the SmartTraveler software then get a new product key from Pharos, but no problems there.

This works for Pharos 600 GPS Phone? If so, which files in the link do I need to download? How do I actually flash it? I'm a network admin, but don't play with phones too much.

Yes it works on your phone. You have to download it on the respective folder. So connect your phone through usb and execute the executable.

I connected my phone and it was showing connected in "Microsoft Mobile Device Center". I got the phone screen to show the USB was connected. But the update button was greyed out. It said to disconnect and reconnect. I did and the phone froze. I took out the battery to reboot. Now it will not turn on at all. When I hold the power button on the red light flashes but doesn't turn on. DidI just brick my phone?

Not at all. There is two methods to update your phone.
The first is through usb and the second is through the SDcard. You can try to do that through the second method. However, is very strange to stuck the instalation process. I wondering if you downloaded the correct OS since there is a lot OS for many devices there.

Step by step to flash a new rom from sd card..

Preparations

Download this file http://www.4shared.com/file/X9RmzIQH/23115temp.html

What you will need is an SD Card, formatted in FAT. There should be nothing in the card except for the files that we are going to copy into it. Also, make sure your device is connected to the AC charger or has a full battery charge (I would recommend the former). Also, do not connect it via USB cable for charging in this case as you will soon see why.

Steps

1. Run the ROM update program on your PC and go through the installation process until your reach the ‘End User Update‘ window. Leave this running.

2. Go to the Temp file in your Documents. This is usually C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp but it really depends on how you set up Windows.

3. Look for these 2 files, temp.dat (about 60 MB) and USBDLUpdate_Console.exe (about 4 KB) and copy them to your formatted SD Card using a card reader. You might want to copy these files to another location on your PC before copying it to your card reader if there are problems. Also, rename temp.dat to temp.bin before proceeding to the next step.

4. Put this card into your device and put the device into Bootloader mode. This can be done by pressing (and holding) the power button and voice commander key and then soft resetting. When it restarts, you can remove the stylus but keep your hold on the power and voice commander buttons.

5. The installation will proceed but at a slower rate than if you did it on your PC. This is due to the slower transfer rate between the card and device. It might take about 15-30 minutes so it would be best if your device was connected to the mains charger.

6. Installation is complete when you see this message “USB host is not connected yet“. This is your sign to do a soft reset and setup your device as the ROM installation was successful.

Possible Causes of Errors

1. If you see messages like this, “Find SDMMC Card” or “SDMMC Load Fail“, when you enter Bootloader mode, it means that the SD card is not compatible with your Eten device. In this case, make sure the device is formatted in FAT and not FAT32. If it is in FAT, try with another card, as that make of card could be the reason.

2. Use a card of capacity at least 512MB as this would allow the temp.bin to unpack the files during installation. I am not sure what is the minimum card size required but better to be safe than sorry. You could always try with a smaller card.

3. If you are unable to rename temp.dat to temp.bin, you need to enable enable another option in Windows. Select Tools and then Folder Options, select View tab and uncheck “Hide extensions for known files types” option

4. If you are still facing errors at this stage, leave a comment here and we will try to help you out. ;)

These steps are very helpful. However, my phone will not power on since the first attempt. The battery has a full charge. IT WILL NOT POWER ON AT ALL. I think it may be bricked.

Camera is all crazy. Mobile Shell doesn't work right. Everythin else seems ok. Any apps you recommend to change the layout of home screen?

Hi erickwill. I'm using pharos 127 with default rom from pharos.com. I'm going to try new wm6.5 rom you had been cooked. Big thanks to you and I have a question that do you have any idea to rotate screen of pharos 127? Because some application can't run with resolution 320x240. They only work fine on 240x320 :((

I just loaded the XP version from Erics website onto my Pharos 127. I just have one thing to say - Eric is a genius. I think win 6.5 blows 6.1 completely out of the water. Thank you Eric. Only did this last night and still playing with the phone but I think massive kudo's should go Erics way.

i got the latest rom from acer website. the rom version is EUU_ACER_M900_WWE_614_100_0204_EA678616 in a zipped file.

however, when i tried flashing my acer m900 rom (both thru usb and thru a 1gb sdmmc), i got this message on the phone:

os image is not compatible with this hardware.

thru usb i did a run on my vista os. thru sdmmc i extracted the temp.dat, renamed it to temp.bin and copied it and usbdlupdate_console.exe to the card. i followed your steps to the word and i'm sure i didn't make any mistake there. can't seem to understand the problem. :confused:

my acer m900 is a used one with the following "settings>system>about" data.

wm 6.1 pro
ce os 5.2.20772 build 20772.1.4.7
(c) 2008 ms

processor: samsung s3c6410
memory: 93.59 mb

please help me as i'm a novice in wm.

And now I can not sync my contact to/from PC <-> phone.
(Maybe having a error on Rom so can not sync.) And 1 problem.
I want up original rom from pharosgps.com.
While try up new rom, I get a message " can not switch to download mode".
I tried all 4 original Rom from website but same problem happen.
I use win Xp/Vista for Rom XP/vista.
I don't know way to up Rom from SD card(Step by step to flash a new rom from sd card..)
I don't know way to create file in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp ? Run file PTL12723145_20101206_XP.exe ?

You can go into download mode hard reseting the device and pressing, if my mind don't fail, volume down and camera button. Try pressing other buttons if the previous doesn't works till you get Download Mode.
After you got to enter into download mode you can proceed to execute the rom executable. Make sure to have full battery.
Let me know your results.
