I actually know about different problems concerning the connection of gps and WM 6.5
I for myself use "Navigon". With this program there is no need to configuarte anything in WM. The software finds the gps mouse on its own and it works fine!
Which WM did you use before?
I was using WM 6.1, and it works fine. I don't have any idea about this problem?
Thanks.

Hello,
About my problem with GPS, look this. I have installed the Garmin XT, and this program located my GPS mouse, but this program control GPS by itself. Destinator depends from WM to locate GPS. So Destinator can't locate GPS.
Thanks.

Hey D-Two,
One more thing about this problem with GPS.
When the BT headphone is connected, the GPS can't be located by the PPC. It seems that the GPS is off, but it is on. If I turn off the BT headphone, diconnecting it, and search for new BT devices again, the BT GPS is located, but the same problem occurs: it doesn't connect.
I hope that it help you with solution.
Thanks.

The problem with the bluetooth of the BA is it can't connect to multiple devices at the same time. Only one device can be connected at one time.

Hello again peoples.
It may be the wrong place to tell about it, but, let's see. What your today plugin's? I'm using the Resco today plugin from Resco Contact Manager, but, Resco contact manager still has many bugs, but the today plugins is the best for me. Someone tell me any today plugin that do same things, or if there a way to disable contact manger and continue using the today plugin. Other thing, what is the best contact manager to WM6.5 + BA in your opinion?
Thanks and sorry if this post is at wrong place.

I'm not sure you are correct about this. I've always been able to connect my BT GPS and headset every since WM5 - I don't know about WM3.2 as I had a wired TomTom back then ;)

i don't know what the resco today plugin actually does, but -=here=- (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511052) you find a thread with all the today plugins and i guess what you need would be a fave app launcher and/or a fave people plugin, you can find both there.
about contact managing in general, i just use the normal "contacts" program that comes with windows phone. it has been improved a lot since the old wm6.1 version and i really like it, i don't see any necessity for another one.

Yes, works perfectly.
What does happen is that if I start TomoTom and then connect my BT headset, TT will lose the BT link for about 60secs but I can live with that minor annoyance.

i had the 21202 before and that was a nice rom too. xplode's work, if i remember correctly. this rom, however, is much newer and faster, so, yes, it offers a lot of advantages. also d-two is a great chef, that really sees the bugs in the roms after porting and fixes them himself, so this rom is really optimized on what people want. you should make a backup of your relevant data, like pim data, and give this rom a try, you won't regret it.

Thank you for making this rom possible. I have however some questions.
I try to update to the new rom version. I am currently running windows mobile 5.0.
When I put my ppc in Serial mode to upgrade to the new rom the Device update utility does not show my old rom and also doesnt show the new one. What am i doing wrong? I have updated the blueangle before from windows 2003 to winmo 5.
My system is windows 7 ultimate 64bit.

Hello all,
Chef Tony or D-Two,
Since my first upgrade to WM6, I am having problems with the loss of radio signal at that time told me it was a bug, but did not has a fix. May be that now there is a fix to this bug? Or the problem of losing signal andv having to reset repeatedly to return the signal persists?
Thanks.

credit for making this rom goes to d-two.
flashing a rom from win7 x64 ultimate is not easy, in fact, i have never managed to do that. in 32bit, it should be no problem because, you can permanently install the driver, given in the wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrad e4_Vista_Pic
but since the x64 driver is not digitally signed, windows would not accept it permanently, because, switching off the digital driver signing only lasts for one windows session.

Hey
I have found to ways, that both have worked for me. The first is complicated and involve that you have sign the active sync driver by youself, for a guide see:
http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33920573.
When you have sign the driver and installed it as said in the quide, all is working as normal for Vista.
But I found an easier way to do it, if you are using Windows 7 pro, ultimate or enterprise, these all have the possibility to install "Windows XP mode", if you CPU supports it, it is found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx.
When you start the virtual machine for the first time, you just need to install active sync and then under USB in the menu bar you should see the BlueAngel as one of the devices. It may not be named BlueAngel when it is in bootloader, but try and remove it from cradle and see which one disapear, thats the one you need to attach. In this way you just follow the guide for upgrading under XP :)
Hope it helps Hagsted

Look, this problem is that when I'm in a area without radio signal, and I go to a new area with radio signal, some times, the phone don't receive this signal, I need to reset BA to recovery signal, and some times, just reset don't work, i need to reset a lot of times.

I have honestly never seen a problem like this (and I have been on these forums for a little shy of 5 years). I don't believe it will help, but maybe something that you modified in your phone is messing up with the ability of your phone to "see" the towers. It could also be that your SIM card is messed up. If you have some time to spare, back up your device and try to re-flash your rom. Also, go to your provider and ask them to give you a new SIM card since you think that yours is messed up.
The only other thing that I can think of is physical damage to the antenna (dropping the phone, banging it against a wall, etc).
Hopefully, some of this advice comes in handy...

Ok.. coming soon we will know if any this solutions fix the problem, because I acquired a new BA for my wife, and we are waiting a new LCD arrive. I'm changing my SIM because my actual SIM is old and do not support a easily from my Operator. And finishing, it's not Flash problem, because like i said, after update my BA from WM 2003 to WM 6, with all roms versions this problem occurs. If you didn't saw anything about this problem, i think that you don't search right, because this problem was very noted a bit more than one year ago.
Some links with my problem, and one this have a solution not tested by me, i will try it soon and I will inform here the results.

First of all, I am glad that you may have found a solution. If it does work for you, by all means post it.
I am suggesting things as I see them. I do not search for all issues on this site, but I try to address them as they come along and learn from these solutions, so if anyone else comes along in the future with a similar problem, I will try to help them out. What I am doing is simply trying to give you guidance on an issue that personally I have never seen. I really don't appreciate this kind of attitude. I am the first to tell people to search and read before asking questions in the BA section.
Next time you have questions, either look for an answer yourself or at least be more humble with the people trying to help you.

Dear friends ..
I have installed this new ROM,
But I made some mistake during the EXTROM and during installing some other softwares.
I'd like to make a new fresh ROM installation,
I tried but found out that everytime I go to bootloader and install the ROM again it keeps my softwares and the EXTROM.
Also I tried to downgrade to 6.1 but the same thing!
So how could I format the entire device and install the 6.5.3 ROM in a fresh way ?
Thanks :)

Hey Man,
You have to do a hard reset, on the second post have it, but, press and hold power button and reset with stylus, on the colorbars screen, before you see the version of rom and radio stack, pres record and camera button at same time, will appear some options at top left corner of the screen. With the same buttons (record and camera) select format storage yes and clean register yes, the other option put no, and press the mail button. Ready, your BA is hard reseted and formated.
I hope this help you.

Yes... it's because the ROM (WM 6.xx) is located on a ROM memory, and you formatted the Storage Memory. This is the Memory were are the programs and other things, including settings.

Hi Chef and D-two.
Thanks for this great work. Very fast rom.
There are three issues on my SPVM2000
1. Clicking on Wi-Fi button on comm manager do not immediately work.
Need to go to wireless manager/settings /wireless lan/ then click twice on WLAN in order for the wifi to work. Once than that clicking on WiFi button on Comm manager would function ok. Need to do the mentioned workaround every softreset or after reinstalling battery.
2. Is the any way i could access the SIM Menu of my SIM card?
3. After fresh install Lock icon/word is present, after awhile it disappeared. Same also with the word menu when you/re texting/reading SMS.
Thanks and more power!

1. That is a known issue. When you go into Commmgr, go to Settings>Wireless LAN and try to turn the Wifi on thru there. It will not turn on at that point. However, you will have turned on all the necessary drivers to enable it through Commmgr. once you are done, go back to Commmgr and try again, it should turn on.
2. No. STK has not worked since the dawn of WM5.
3. I don't understand this question. The lock icon is (and always is) present in the Start Menu on the bottom left and looks like a lock. There is not writing on it though.

On item 3 of my question (Title: SIM MENU)
Please take a look on the image attached. There's no icon/menu on the boxed location.
Performing a hard reset restores this icon/menu. But as I use the unit, it will exhibit missing icon/menus. What seems to be the problem with this BA? hardware problem?

i am really running out of ideas, i never saw something like that, how long have you been using the rom, before it occured, maybe it is some sort of strange timebomb bug. if it happens rather quickly, you could also try running the device for a certain amount of time close to that without sim card and sd card.
also, did you use a special extrom or made one yourself, because sometimes, apps installed through the extrom are not appearing in the remove programs list. have you had an earlier d-two build with similar symptoms?
that's really all i can think of right now, not that i had any solutions, but you could still test some things stated above.

Hi,
First of all thanks alot for this fantastic ROM. Found it is really fast even after installing my typical applications.Great work!
Possible bug would be that, my BA freaks out as soon at the battery gets low - low in the sense of 80% with this rom and near 50% with Sundream's?.
Does anyone know whether it is a WM 6.5 bug?
Cheers.

The battery meter from WM is badly screwed up. Try charging your BA for a while (and I mean long while) and then hard reset. There are people who claim that if your battery is not fully charged at the time of flashing, your device will recognize the current charge as 100%.
Try that and see if it works.

Hi,
I just flashed in this ROM to my BA. I have an external GPS receiver that I use it quite extensively. I tried to connect it to my newly flashed wm6.5.3 ROM BA thro Bluetooth, but it cant seem to connect. I did look thro the possible solutions that other posters suggested, but seems like none of them works.
Any one has any luck connect his/her BA to ext. GPS? Previously, when my BA is running on WM2003, i can connect to the GPS without any issues.
The GPS unit that i have is identified as iBT-GPS. Cant remember what is brand name, as I picked this up from ebay a few years ago.
If you managed to connect to your ext BT GPS, really appreciate if you could provide a step-by-step instruction.
TIA.

Hi, in the storage settings for attachments my phone picks up the RAM Disk as the storage card (shows 15.88MB of free memory). Is there any way of setting the SD card as the storage card??..also is there any way of saving files received by Bluetooth directly to the SD card?...the only other issues i had was that unlike the 6.1/6.5 ROMs, theres no way of setting a custom currency (text field replaced with a drop box) and my operator's name isn't listed so it just shows up as numbers. Other than these small issues the ROM is great, the best I've used till now. The battery lasts for two whole days on a single charge and the phone hasn't hung even once since the re-flash.:)
Chef_Tony
24th January 2010, 01:39 PM
no, the mail attachments at the moment cannot be stored on the sd card, that is why the next version is not gonna have a ramdisk. and no, bluetooth received files cannot be stored in the sd card directly unless you use bluetooth explorer, and let the other phone push files directly to your shared folder.

I've been using this rom for the past few days and so far, I like it. Great job.
I have a small contribution to make. The default WM6.5 wallpaper is a 24 bit jpeg that doesn't look too good on the BA's 16 bit display. I have dithered the images myself, and it looks much better, the gradients are much smoother. To use this, just copy the images in the attached zip to \windows, replacing the existing images, and soft rest. Also, if anyone wants to use this in their WM build, go right ahead...
For the record, I used Graphest Depthdither, check it out if you want to modify other wallpapers to better suit the BA.

1. why can't you kill the processes? aren't they running or do you get an error message?
4. on the pc (running Windows XP!) open the Task manager, go to the 2nd tab (Processes) and kill "wcescomm.exe" and "WCSEMgr.exe"
5. Now let's start the actual Upgrade:
5.a copy the downloaded nk.nbf to any given folder, let's call it Upgrade 28008
5.b copy the contents of this package to the same folder: MAupgradeUt_noID
5.c Start MAupgradeut_noID
6. If in the 2nd window the rom version is not shown, something went wrong, start over!
the point of killing the processes is that sometimes, if you don't, in step 6 there is no version number shown and that means the flashing won't start. you can still try to proceed without step 4 and if you are not having trouble with step 6, you are fine.
and for 3. any radio version is fine with any rom, so if you feel like you need to upgrade the radio, just try the newest one, R 1.15.00, which can be downloaded here: http://rapidshare.com/files/341983550/radio_.nbf
just put it in the folder with your rom and your RUU and it will be flashed together with the rom.

1. if we are talking about you private pc, and you are certain, that neither you yourself, nor anyone in your network restricted you to access administrative features like the task manager, it really sounds like a virus, or a trojan, that tries to keep running by disabling you to kill its process. in that case you should really consider re-installing windows, because mostly, after cleaning those nasty things, the system is handicapped and slow, because they leave their garbage deep in the system. but i can hardly tell from here, whether that is the case, just an opinion.
2. i have never heard of that. it might be true for other devices, maybe even by other manufacturers, but that is certainly not true for the blueangel. also by just not killing activesync there can be no hardware damage. in my earlier post i stated, that you should try and go on with the upgrade process, because the only difference between a killed-off activesync and activesync still running is, that sometimes, when it is still running, the upgrade would start, but get stuck at 0%, it just does not start, but there is no harm done, you can simply soft reset and continue using the device until you figure out a way to flash the device. other possibility is, that it simply starts upgrading and there is no problem at all. there would be no difference to normal flashing then.
3. the differences in the radio versions is minimal. people speak of better speech quality while phoning. i am pretty satisfied with version 1.15.00. it certainly doesn't hurt, going with the newest version.

Another bug report
None of the alarm*.wma, reminder*.wma etc files show up in the drop down list when I try and change the notification sounds.
The work around was to copy the files I wanted to the /Application Data/Sounds directory
I suspect that the problem is caused by these files in the /Windows directory being marked as hidden, system so the application that sets them cannot see them. I can't change these properties using ActiveSync but copying the files to my PC and then back to the device in /Application Data/Sounds directory solves the problem as it drops these bits.
I did a hard reset after flashing too ... ;)
HTH
just copy and paste those files to windows directory rather pasting in /Application Data/Sounds directory and then try to access it from sounds and notification settings area it will work it works for me i hope it will works for you also.

if you want to install the radio rom separately, the process of upgrading is basicly the same:
preparations on the pc:
- put the radio_.nbf in a folder with maupgradeut_noid and the other RUU stuff. since in your case, just one upgrade at a time seems to be possible, make sure, there is no "nk.nbf" or "ms_.nbf" in that folder.
- sync the device one last time
- try and kill activesync (if it still does not work for you, skip that and hope for the best or have a look at the bottom of this post)
preparations on the BA:
- remove sd card and sim card
- put the device into bootloader mode by pressing power+record+reset until the display shows serial v2.xx
now let's get started, shall we:
- connect the device and start maupgradeut_noid
- make sure, the device's screen shows USB V2.xx now
- on the second screen, make sure the new radio version you want to upgrade to is shown.
- start the upgrade and wait for it to finish, this is much faster than the actual rom upgrade due to tiny size
- when it's ready, you should perform a hard reset (even though you didn't mess with any data on the device, it is always best. also there is hardly anything to lose, since you just flashed the rom yesterday ;) )
press power+reset, camera+record and set the menu options to No, Yes, Yes and confirm with the mail button.
your device is hard resetted and should show the new radio version and new protocol version. in my case, it switched from
R1.12.00
G1337.42
to
R1.15.00
G1337.45
to activate the speakerphone, press and hold the green hardware call button while in a call, the speakerphone in the menu of the phone is for bluetooth hands-free.
after a rom upgrade, the volumes are mostly set to a lower level, so make sure to adjust all 3(!) volume sliders, the two you see in normal use AND the in-call slider.
there is no scroll-bar in the start menu, because it is not needed, you simply slide up anywhere on the display, and the contents go up, so you go down in the menu. so there is no point to a slider, except for maybe showing you your position in the menu, but it is not that huge, you will always know, where you are (once you are used to it).
with best regards
Chef_Tony
EDIT: if your taskmanager problem is still present, have a look at this site: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Taskmanager_error.htm to re-enable it
or, if, due to a virus, that method really doesn't work, you can download another task manager like microsoft's own process explorer here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
that should not be locked out and works even better than the usual task manager. i hope this helps you. this issue is not just about upgrading, it is about your entire pc, so you should really try and fix that.

Follow the instruction on the page, install only Active sync on this virtual machine. You are ready to upgrade.
When you connect your BA in Boot mode, your windows seven will detect it. On the window of virtual XP machine, select USB on menu bar and click on your device to connect it on Virtual Machine. Run the program update with regards from Chef_Tony at second post. Enjoy it.

Hello all,
To respond to the question if its possible to update your Blueangle under windows xp mode in windows 7 (64). I was not able to upgrade due to the fact that windows 7 was still interfering with the Blueangle in windows xp mode. When you put the PDA in the cradle, windows 7 on the background starts up the killed processes. Therefore, in windows xp mode you wont be able to connect to the blueangle and upgrade the device.
Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I succeeded on an real old windows XP machine.
The standard ROM is delivered with only one theme to save space. Does anyone know interesting places to search for new themes?

If you have any problem, let us know.
Haha, I knew that you were going to write this :D. There are ways to do this though (at least for other devices). I guess this is better than nothing at this point...
Thanks for the info.

Hi guys..
Sorry for the delay to answear.
Only that you need to update your BA on a Windows 7 is to enable windows xp mode. This is just a xp virtual running on your windows 7.
Acess this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

The way you describe is quite complicated and actually not necessaire!
Look at my "How To (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5456317&postcount=6)", there you can read how to flash you BA on Windows 7, step by step and very easy!

Ok, your method may be easier, I do not agree, but there are some considerations:
In my method, none security change was made in Windows. All programs used are certified by Microsoft.
In his method, with the release of installing uncertified drivers, significantly lowers the security outside the actual operation. These programs is always doubtful.
Very nice tutorial, should help a lot of people, but I prefer the security of my method.
See you later guys.

Thanks for the ROM. But it works slow on my SX66 so i will go back to wm6.1. By the way when I try to read a book(.txt file) it opens internet explorer (blank page)instead of word mobile. Am i doing something wrong or is there a problem about the ROM.
Thanks again

I don't believe that word will open .txt by default unless you tell it to (associate file type with that app). IE, on the other hand, will try to open anything that is not related to anything else (.txt, html, xml, etc)
Get something like File Explorer Extension 2.06 and try to associate the files with it. Alternatively, get a Notepad application, which by default will open these files. Good luck!

I have some strange isuess with this rom. I cant connect with my bluetooth GPS device. I cant enter "0000" it just wont accept it. In addition, I am not able to connect to my wireless network. The old rom could connect with Wifi and could connect with my external GPS. Are there more people with this problem? Otherwise it would be a fantastic ROM.

Yes, these issues are present in the latter roms. Try some of the newer versions as Chef suggested.

in d-two's thread, you will find the same manila version (v1917) as a single cab. you can use that with any other rom you want, i don't know particularly about the 28008, but i know it works with d-two's 23529, 28205 and sun_dream's 28230 and 28232

Is clear storage application included in this rom? My e-mail button is broken that's why my device can't perform hard reset. Please help me. Thanks.:)

an app like that is not included in any of the roms here. i don't even know, if it is possible to clear the storage and the registry, while the device is running. that's like formatting c: while running windows ;)
if it is possible, one would have to make a portable little exe file to execute from the sd card.
but if you can try a hard reset through mtty:
type task 32
and if you get a 'level=0'
then type task 28
then task 8
copied from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306098
but i posted this before and it seems to work.

There are probably cabs out there with Clear Storage (No2chem has an app in his site for this purpose). It may be worth a shot...
