Well, I am back and I am glad to have some time to support the community again, updated the first post and i will flash the rom today and will be able to support this thread as well.

The Extrom is installed by putting the folder to the sd card. The installation starts automatically after a soft- or hard reset. The cfg.txt can be editted to personal use.

In correspondance with cosmicgate, i decided to post our guide on how to upgrade here, to avoid question further questions about that:

THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE SUITABLE FOR WINDOWS XP COMPUTERS ONLY!!!

For people running WM5/6x but with 43MB of storage:
You have to downgrade to WM2003 and here's how to do that:
1. Download this Windows Mobile 2003 SE rom:
Download from Rapidshare (http://rapidshare.com/files/348371058/Chef_Tony_O2_WM2003_UK.zip)
Download from Uploaded.to (http://ul.to/b955jt)
and extract it to a folder of your choice.
2. Remove both the the SIM card and the sd card
3. Put the device into Bootloader Mode, pressing power+record and reset
4. your device display shows Serial v2.0x
5. on the pc (running Windows XP!) open the Task manager, go to the 2nd tab (Processes) and kill "wcescomm.exe" and "WCSEMgr.exe"
6. Now let's start the actual Upgrade:
7. Navigate to the Upgrade folder
8. Start Maupgradeut_noid
9. If in the 2nd window the rom version is not shown, something went wrong, start over!
10. Then start the upgrade and you should see a progress bar, also look at the device's display, it should also show the progress.
11. After it finishes perform a "WM2003 hard reset" by pressing power and reset
12. wait for the extrom to finish
13. now you can re-insert your sim and sd card (if you are planning to go on from here, you can also leave them out).
14. proceed with "For devices running wm2003"

For devices running wm2003:

1. Copy repart_doc.exe (http://rapidshare.com/files/322928889/Repart_DOC.zip) and the unlocker cab (http://rapidshare.com/files/322928951/xda-developers_Unlocker.CAB) to the device and install the unlocker. In the start menu you will find a folder named "Extrom Tool".
2. Click "unhide" (if you are getting an error message, proceed with 2.a, else with 3.)
2.a the unlocker installs into the standard folder for program files, which depends on the rom language can be "\programme" or "\programmes" etc.
2.b the link in the start menu always points to "\program files"
2.c the easiest way, to solve that, is to rename your program files folder to "\program files"
2.d that destroys parts of the system, but doesn't matter because it is just needed for unlocking
2.e since now the link location should be correct, proceed with step 3.
3. Click "unlock", maybe a soft reset is needed.
4. Start repart_doc.exe
5. Set the future size, if not pre-entered, to 128kb (smallest possible partition size on this file system)
6. Click "Format now!"
7. Soft reset
8. Go back to the Extrom Tools
9. "Lock"
10. "Hide"
11. Now proceed with "Upgrading a WM5/6 device"



Upgrading a WM5/6 device

1. Remove both the the SIM card and the sd card
2. Put the device into Bootloader Mode, pressing power+record and reset
3. your device display shows Serial v2.0x
4. on the pc (running Windows XP!) open the Task manager, go to the 2nd tab (Processes) and kill "wcescomm.exe" and "WCSEMgr.exe"
5. Now let's start the actual Upgrade:
5.a copy the downloaded nk.nbf to any given folder, let's call it Upgrade 28008
5.b copy the contents of this package to the same folder: MAupgradeUt_noID (http://rapidshare.com/files/322928773/Chef_Tony_RUU.zip)
5.c Start MAupgradeut_noID
6. If in the 2nd window the rom version is not shown, something went wrong, start over!
7. Then start the upgrade and you should see a progress bar, also look at the device's display, it should also show the progress.
8. After finishing, take the device out of the cradle take out the battery and insert the SIM card
9. copy the EXTROM folder to the sd card and insert the sd card
10. Hard reset the device, pressing reset+power and record+camera and in the menu, that appears set:
Enable_Kitl: NO
Clean Registry Hive: YES
Format Storage: YES
using the camera and record buttons.
11. press the mail button to confirm your selection.
12. your device starts for the first time, you align the screen and let the extrom install, it soft resets and your device is ready to use

what exactly does not work for you, i tested the sync with contacts, tasks, favorites and appointments and it all works out fine so far.

did you hard reset your device after upgrading, did you delete the old sync profile, set up a new one and set the content settings right?

No, there is no Microphone AGC in the settings.

when using Lanscape mode, and at the restart, the screen will return to Potrait with a touch screen that does not irregular like the R71's Xplode. but it was not my experience on the d-two ROM version 1 (WM6.5.1 build 23052). try to use the method Lanscape then restart, then you will experience it.

You can change the brightness by editing the key HKCU\Controlpanel\Backlight\Brightness: 1 is 'dark' and 10 is 'bright'. The brightness will change immediately without any 'restart' or something. Perhaps you can use 10 cab files to change it

i cannot confirm any of that, my battery status is the actual one, from what i can tell, in the top bar, as well as in the settings. in fact, it shows me, pretty empty right now.

1. i don't know why anyone would want that, but still, there is probably a reg tweak, will look into it, as soon as i charged my phone.

2. there is no fully operational fix for that, yet, people suggested either HButton (not tested yet) or Showcase (from the development and hacking section, also not tested yet)
probably there will be a custom fix coming up, since we can hardly wait for htc or 3rd party software manufacturers to bring us a decent task manager.

I found it, erased it, and now I have "Input" under settings in Personal. Make sure that you are looking at the correct key.

about the input options, i deleted that key, and it works out just fine. input options are back in the personal settings, still i can't change the options of spb keyboard in there, but as a 3rd party app, this is not the rom's fault, i'll try another version and if nothing helps, i'll go back to good ol' fingerkeyb :D

by the way,my BA device is became crazy,the power on/off bottun dont work and the sound decrease automatically without using the slide bottun in the right side of the device,and still like that even when mke hard reset,but when down grade to 23052 it works fine,the second thing when power off the BA there is sounds of closing program(which is like: tik when closing any prgram) by itself without pressing any bottun.

23060 is far newer than the official release of 6.5 (in fact, we are currently in 6.5.1). So, to answer your question... not likely.

it is not really necessary for you to download the 23060 anymore, since the 23071 is coming up, maybe even still today, then i will ask d-two, whether he allows me, to make a mirror or whether he makes one himself, i didn't wanna go ahead and do that without permission.

basicly, all you need is the rom itself, download link in 1st post. that is a file called "nk.nbf" and you need the RUU (rom upgrade utility) to flash the rom. see attachment. and you should have a look at the wiki, how it is done. see -=here=- (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrad e4) (below all the download links) there are the instructions.

when exactly is that happening, does the upgrade start at all?
do you use the maupgradeut_noid?
is your device in bootloader mode? which version does it show?
do you use windows xp?
do you kill activesync?
do you take out the sd card and the sim card before upgrading?
have you tried another rom? another ruu?
what exact rom are you using right now? how did you get that on the device?

Brother, I had this problem before... that is why I gave up upgrading my ROM on Vista (as well as Windows7).
Try on your good old reliable Windows XP machine... otherwise, make a dual boot!

Had the same issue on Vista 64...... move on XP 32 and installation was successful.....
This is really frustrating and make me to start thinking to move to an old XP 32

dual boot is when you install xp and then vista afterwards to another drive, it will make a boot menu, where you can choose your os.

There is no dismiss button when I get a reminder from a calender event, I can touch where I think the button would be and it does dismiss the event, but there is no text. has any one experienced such a problem with this rom?

by the way,my BA device is became crazy,the power on/off bottun dont work and the sound decrease automatically without using the slide bottun in the right side of the device,and still like that even when mke hard reset,but when down grade to 23052 it works fine,the second thing when power off the BA there is sounds of closing program(which is like: tik when closing any prgram) by itself without pressing any bottun.

dual boot is when you install xp and then vista afterwards to another drive, it will make a boot menu, where you can choose your os.

Let me jump in for a second and correct you in a technicality Chef (I hope you don't mind). A dual boot system is a system that can boot any two OS (not necessarily XP and Vista). For instance, you can have Windows 7 and Kubuntu 9.1 installed on the same drive (different partitions though) and the computer will prompt you to select which OS you want to use at startup.

I guess the only way in which you will find out is by flashing something else to your device and see if the problem still exists (flash one of the 6.1 or early 6.5). If it does, then it is hardware, if it doesn't then it is software. IMHO, I believe it is hardware.

It does not seem to be present in this rom. Otherwise, you would probably see it under Settings>Personal>Input

Cannot reproduce your bug. Mine syncs ok.

Fixed -
Removed "old" PC "friendly name" (activesync /tools/options)
Installed the OS again.
Reinstalled activsync 4.5

All is well.

no, it's not the dropdown list, that's gone, it's the other input methods, there is only the standard integrated keyboard, if you want another keyboard, you have to download it yourself.

if you are looking for a finger-friendly keyboard, have a look at resco keyboard ($), spb keyboard ($), or fingerkeyb 2.1 (free) from the development and hacking section.. either of those would be a good choice.

if you are looking for the transcriber, letter recognition or block recognition, i am sure, they are out there as a cab, just google it, visit the classic ppc software sites or if you can't find anything at all, re-post.

in general, as soon as you hav a 2nd keyboard installed you can choose again, in start -> settings -> personal -> input. in the bottom bar, next to the keyboard, there is no "drop-up" menu any more, if that was your question.

Sorry to correct you, Chef, but there is a popup keyboard changer in 6.5.1. If you press and hold the KB icon, the SIP installed list will pop up and you can choose a different input method. I have the standard KB and fingerkeyb2.1 both installed and I switch between them freely without having to go to settings.

Now i believe that it is hardware problem due to humidity or wetness of the weather that made some oxidate in the sound up/down slide,i clean it but it is very difficult,u r lucky if it is not broken while opening it,now my blue angel work fine after last cleaning to the buttun and other places that contains something like sault due to wetness of the weather.:)
this problem stopped from yesterday(power off/on + slide)working fine.
By the way,this rom takes at least 50% runing program memory after booting directly(without any worken program).

@Chef,

Moti beat me to it, but he is right. Just hold on the keyboard icon in the bottom bar for a couple of seconds and the selection menu pops up. Also, another keyboard that I would have included in your list would have been PCM Keyboard.
One last thing, you may want to add this cab to your first post (thanks malkovich) for the people who miss the Letter Recognizer (maybe even add it to the ExtRom).

I had the same problem, if u are using Windows Vista, u wont be able to upgarde ur ROM, use Windows XP, u will able to upgrade it without any problem

after upgrading, you don't perform a soft reset but a hard reset. also, it is not really important, if the upgrade tool shows the old values, when upgrading to this rom, all there was, was the rom version of the new rom and still, it worked out fine in the first attempt. please have a look at the wiki links below and make sure that you understood and did it all.

yes, it should take between 10 and 20 minutes, if it claims to be done after let's say 1-2 minutes, in most cases, the upgrading tool says congratulations, but the device's screen might still tell you the true value, like that it stopped at 5%. if that also says congratulations, apparently the device did not take the rom. now you should determine, how that could happen. if you are absolutely positive, you have done everything right, it is either the pc's fault, or the device's. to test the pc, try again with another usb port, kill activesync, and maybe even try with another pc. if that does not improve the situation, i would try mtty and format the device before flashing the new one. also, which bootloader version do you have? maybe something is wrong there.

I have good news for anybody want to help me.

When i run my BA in normal mode with Activesyns. And i run MaUpgradeUt_noID tool and i get information as attach picture .

I apply it but it take me for a long time and still wait.

Can i use BaUpgradeUt.exe to upgrade my phone when it is running without change to Bootloader mode?

--I try to use some old rom that i has successed upgrade to my phone before.
so the cause is not the rom fail.

No. The device must be in bootloader, otherwise, you will not be able to flash. Are you killing ActiveSync while you are using the RUU (MaUpgradeUt_noID)? You have to kill it before starting up the upgrading process. Do it in a XP machine, do not play around with Vista or Windows 7.

however, input method option still not working.

Btw i have some questions regarding this extrom made for this rom.
The windows marketplace cant connect to the server and always giving error. Anyone know why this is happening? I really want to see the microsoft version of apple appstore.
and how you guys install all of the extrom apps into BA?cause after installing all of them, mine got 3MB of internal storage.
can i install something like office, etc in memory card?

the sync run just fine with me.

what task manager app do you guys use, which can be assigned to hardware button and when i click, the task manager open?

my current radio ver is now 1.12.
Is there any differences with radio ver 1.15?
cause i didnt find any features upgrade for radio from 1.12 to 1.15.

to enable using gprs, you have to configure and set the gprs connection to use your operator configurations.
Just go to Start->Settings->Connections->Connections.
There you'll find My ISP and My Work Network. Go to My ISP -> Add a New Modem connection, on select a modem field, choose Cellular Line (GPRS) and just follow the rest. That should do to connect via gprs.
If you dont know the exact configuration for your operator, please find them on the operator websites, they should have the config.

Wifi is good and stable in this build.
radio 1.15 is the last radio version.

BA has only wifi B version.
BA will work on any wifi router only if the router set up to accept Wifi B version or Mixed mode.

Btw i have some questions regarding this extrom made for this rom.
The windows marketplace cant connect to the server and always giving error. Anyone know why this is happening? I really want to see the microsoft version of apple appstore.
and how you guys install all of the extrom apps into BA?cause after installing all of them, mine got 3MB of internal storage.
can i install something like office, etc in memory card?


It seems to me that you forgot to delete the ExtRom while in 2003. How much free space do you have in total (not how much you have left, but the total)? If I am correct, you are somewhere in the 42 MB range. If so, you have to flash back to stock (2003) and then you have to unhide, erase, and resize the ExtRom.
As far as Office in SD card... no way, no how. It will install directly to memory regardless of what you ask it to do.

Same problem here, with two batteries.

I remember in older WM versions there was an option to shut down communication in accordence with battery strength.

One thing that I have read from most cooks is "Do not trust the battery meter. It is seriously f***ed up". If your device shuts down at 50%, what I would do is to take out the battery and using a Voltmeter, check to see if there is any juice left in the battery.
One other thing, the only way in which you will likely ensure that your battery is fully charged is by sticking it in the back section of the cradle and let it charge by itself (no phone).

I usually try to install as much as I can in the Storage Card. However, a lot of the programs have to be reinstalled simply because they install files and make reg changes in the phone. You can always back up some settings as well as registry, but I do not think there is any way to back up programs and apps. What I normally do is bite the bullet and sit with a nice warm cup of coffee and install all my junk back into my phone after every flash...
I know it is not the answer that you were looking for, but....

i upgraded a lot in the last 6 months, and what i did is, i sorted all my regular programs, whether i would install them on the storage or the sd card, the apps installed in the storage i put together and made an extrom for easier installation. some programs need configuration, like tcpmp, but after all these times, i can make my settings in a few seconds. all the apps that are installed to the sd card are also as cabs in the root of my storage card and i install them from there. since i don't uninstall or delete their former folders, most of them keep the config, once they are re-installed in the same folder.

you could try and make a backup with spb backup but i don't think playing it back would work, because you would have to exclude several things in the registry and in the windows folder.

an alternative for general backup is microsoft myphone, wouldn't back up your apps though.

if microsoft combined the services myphone and marketplace for a platform comparable to steam, you could log on after a hard reset, it would sync up all your pim data and install all the marketplace apps you had before. that, of course meaning, the marketplace would need a lot more apps, especially freeware.
actually, thinking about it, the steam idea is not bad, no more installations, you can take your programs and media to any device, as long as you log in with your information, still it keeps good copy protection, and it is just one program to install, after you re-installed windows, all your games and settings come back automatically.

anyways, like egzthunder mentioned, sometimes, you just have to go through the whole process again, it's not that much work, when you think about it, like 30min. tops, less time than it took me to write this post :D

also, on a related note:
the new version is on its way. 23081. in the german thread they are still having discussions about bluetooth gps issues, that is why it's taking so long, d-two is thinking of changing something about the bluetooth. i guess it's just a matter of testing BT before the next version is released.
anybody who has had similar issues with connecting or using any bluetooth gs receiver is welcome to post here, maybe that could help speed up the process.

hi,i use garmin software with bluetooth gps reciever(hulox gpslim) and it works very good,it connect without opening the bluetooth,coonnect to the sat. in 30 sec.
just try to make a pairing between the bluetooth gps reciever and the device(u can enter 1 digit to pairing, it is not important) then try to setup ur navigation software that u used it.
just make the setting of the gps baud rate 9600,if not work fine, make it 4800.:)

no, it is not your fault, that is exactly what the germans are reporting in the other thread, so now we know, it does not affect everybody, but well both roms. and i figured, no one dared to report but rather blame themselves, that's why i asked. as soon as i charged my BA and my gps, i try to re-create the error.

Check out this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=499848). This was discussed a while back and maybe the solution for 6.5.1 is the same as that for 6.5. I have not used my BT GPS in a while since I got my Raphael, but I am sure that it should not be too complicated.

Hi, you have same problem as me where my side volume keys are broken also my power button cant be used to turn off the device.
Install AE Button Plus, this software can remap your hardware button. You can map button to do/open other apps or just bind nothing.

any way may be it is unlocked before,about the storage u can ensure from setting>system>memory>storage (maximum space is 60.30 mb).

i take this BA from my friend who are using wm5 and he downgrade to the original 2003se for me.

after flash to this 6.5.1 my total storage is 42.92 MB and my total program is 91.08 MB.

but 42.92 MB is not enough for me to install necessary program, but i will take a look at the link that you suggest on the top , i hope i can increase my storage to 60.30 MB like you.

No. The device must be in bootloader, otherwise, you will not be able to flash. Are you killing ActiveSync while you are using the RUU (MaUpgradeUt_noID)? You have to kill it before starting up the upgrading process. Do it in a XP machine, do not play around with Vista or Windows 7.

problem solved, paired a bluetooth people can hear me just fine now, it was the microphone in the handset

the new rom is very good everything run fast and so far so good
just 3 things :
1.when you change battery you need to update the time and date (in the 23004 rom the time and date was save).
2.battery - im lose 10% per hour on standby
3.my game Bubble Breaker is missing - do you know where i can find this game?

You can over- and underclock your blue angels processor with xcpuscalar.

Bugs so far....

1. The Airplane Mode will not stay on for longer than a few minutes. The phone wakes up and tries to connect to a tower.
2. There are still sections where the "x" does not close the current Window. You can get out by using the "ok" hardware button though.

I still have not tested BT or Wifi, but I definitely will later today. Other than that, everything is working smooth. Good job d-two!!!!

Another bug report

None of the alarm*.wma, reminder*.wma etc files show up in the drop down list when I try and change the notification sounds.

The work around was to copy the files I wanted to the /Application Data/Sounds directory

I suspect that the problem is caused by these files in the /Windows directory being marked as hidden, system so the application that sets them cannot see them. I can't change these properties using ActiveSync but copying the files to my PC and then back to the device in /Application Data/Sounds directory solves the problem as it drops these bits.

I did a hard reset after flashing too ... ;)

I bet that this costs you storage as it will probably (at least it was this way on prior OS Versions) not overwrite the files (as they are in the ROM) but only copy another version into the storage that "replaces" the Rom Version (Windows uses the newer version which is the version that is not in the ROM, as the Version in Rom can't be changed).

3. sometimes it disconnects to the network and have to reboot again, to connect.

If you find the download for the ROM and don't find the XCPUScalar.cab you should reread the first post of this thread.

im having trouble removing theme software, ive tried removing through the phone and through activesync but it wont let me, the next thing im gonna do (but dont want to) is a hard reset. and the only reason i need to remove is because any theme makes it look totally different rather then round smooth buttons it has square buttons.

Many thanks for this nice Build 23081. I am just installing/testing it. All features are working very well except phone.
I am upgrading to this Build from the official OrangeFR ROM (my SPV M2000 is already unlocked).
After the installation of the Build 23081 and the first boot, I was asked for the PIN and the Phone worked fine.
After installing the additional apps (ExtROM), I simply do a normal RESET. But I was quite surprised to see that after the start, I was asked to type the PIN again. I typed the right PIN (I am absolutely sure) and after that I have a message saying that "SIM Card Blocked. Please enter the PUK". I type the right PUK but I was asked again and again to enter my PIN and PUK...

Back to the Official OrangeFR ROM and things works very fine.

Any idea to overcome this issue. Why all was working right at the first boot (just after installing the WM6.5.1 B23081) and why I am asked for PIN/PUK after the RESET ?

Perform a hard reset. Also, why do you want to use XCPU? What is the point? This build runs pretty fast as it is right now and to be honest, any increase in processing will seems rather insignificant from a user stand point. The only difference will be that your battery will drain faster.

Look for the image file that is loaded as background and modify it with the program of your liking (Paint, Photoshop, Gimp, etc)

It is not in the backround picture it is a registry key!!!

Sorry for correcting you egzthunder1 but this will not work as the beta mark is an overlay on the background and not in the picture itself. The only way to get rid of it is as D-Two said, delete the key from the registry.
