Vin, I installed your rom, and installed cyberdyne weather editor to add my home city. It adds the home city, but keeps saying "unable to retrieve data from select city" Is there a fix for adding your own city to the weather that I have to do beside just adding my home city. I know before there was a manilla.exe file I had to copy to the windows directory, I can do that, but it wipes out the manilla weather on the home screen. So I was wondering if you knew of a fix for the new manilla?

I have no idea,I baked S.V.I's optimized Manila files. As far as I know they were optimized to reduse the RAM usage and it has nothing to do with the cities database.

The only way I got my weather to work ski21 is to clear the list. Then at that point added my town and saved it. I was then able to select it from the list and get it updated. Then there is a CDMA Home weather fix cab out there as well. That is also needed to get the weather to show on the Home screen. I hope this helps!

vin... a couple things I have found after your latest version and a couple days of messing around with it.. Heres the list I think its small but thought you would like to know.
Bubble Breaker does not work, SHCreateMenuBar Failed.. then goes to Cannot open Bubble Breaker resource file. Then it closes.
I have now been receiving my own emails when replying to email, This used to happen in my exchange email but now is happening within my hotmail email. I am wondering if there is a default setting to change in the registry to have reply instead of Reply all.
Besides these two issues and the one I mentions on ppc about the task manager this ROM is very very good. I dont plan on changing from your ROMs anytime soon, I see them only getting better(not there is much room to get better) :P
Thanks again for all your hardwork, and anyone who has helped you as well!

Its very simple, but better not to use it because they will be deleted from your SD after installation.
If you still want to do this, just make sure you have a copyes of your cabs.
and keep adding the cab names to mycabs.txt.
In my opinion its better to keep it within 2-3 cabs (mostlikely for carriers stuff)
CAB: \Storage card\cabname.cab
CAB: \Storage card\cabname.cab
CAB: \Storage card\cabname.cab
CAB: \Storage card\cabname.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\dcd_Sprint_Carrier_20081020.CAB
CAB: \Storage Card\SPCS_Internet&GPS_FIX.cab
CFG: \windows\config.txt

ha-ha bubble breaker is the last thing I expected to fail....
Task manager is removed because Microsoft decided so lol.Its very uncomfortable for me too. There is a third party software to replace x-button,but some people had problems with it after few days of use,so Im not even posting the link to that cab.

Yes, I am aware of that because those are the codes I am referring to. When I attempt to tap on one of those phone codes, the screen goes white, likes its trying to launch the application, then it exits out and shoots me back to the today screen.

I've been running your 23071 ROM for few days now and it is ROCK SOILD. Memory stays under 36-38mb with nothing running. I have had GREAT battery life so far. I love the flawless EZInput since it's cooked in, it never worked very good for me before using cab's.
6.5.1 and never looking back.
I wanted to share some stock dialer skins in case anyone is looking for them:

Mega Comm Manager can be installed to take over the one included in this ROM
Details can be found HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4246837&postcount=294)
credit= strucon
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=211265&stc=1&d=1249135993
I think it looks a little better, but the main reason for switching them out is the cooked comm manager didn't allow me to manually turn on a data connection when it was off, this Mega CM does allow for that.
Thanks again Vin!!
EDIT: See link if you want to customize the functions of the CM. There are a couple other CAB's that will allow you to have 6-12 different functions and/or customize what functions are available. I didn't realize this until later, you can remove the wifi function.

I finally had some time to test your 2.2 and NSFAN 1.0. (a 4 day test.....2 days of test for each rom) Here is what I found:
Layout - both have their own way of classifying where they put certain files.
Speed - Both are fast.
Data - NSFan (except Bell) and Vin's Rom has to be primed by specific data cab
Internet sharing/PDANET - Nsfan Rom has poor connection. Tend to disconnect after a few minutes of use. Vin's Rom internet connection was steady...with no issue.
Vibrate - Nsfan has removed the touch vibration. Vin's still has it. I feel the vibration slow down the speed of the rom. (and I unchecked it)
Keyboard - NSfan has various options. Vin's has one Full QWERTY keyboard (and a nice one).
GPS - no major issue for both ROM. I experience a phone freeze on Vin's rom once in my 4 trip and use of GPS. No problem with my 4 trip use on Nsfan's rom. I use IGO8.3.4
Opinion:
I like both ROM. They are both "basic" rom. However, I like to internet share and as such would give Vin's rom 2 THUMBs UP VS nsfan'S 1.95 THUMBS UP!
Cheers

Another incorrect finding you had (beside the kb issue Vin pointed out):
Internet sharing/PDANET - Nsfan Rom has poor connection. Tend to disconnect after a few minutes of use.
For internet sharing to work the screen must stay on. NFSFAN's ROM is auto set to sleep after 30 seconds, go to power settings, and uncheck the box "turn off device if not used for" (dim is O.K.) Internet sharing will now not disconnect. I use this feature alot on NFS's roms.

Vin's has one full qwerty keyboard and Nsfan has more than 1 full qwerty keyboard, if you want me to be more specific. Yes, they both have those phone type keyboard board, but I am not interested in testing those.
As for the internet share, NSFAN connection is unstable during my test on several computer. And yes, I have unchecked the off the "turn off the device if not use for" as I have used his rom before and is aware of it. There is something about his new version that is doing something funny.
During my test I reset my phone on NSfan once because I could not get rid of the voice mail sign when in fact I have checked my voice mail and delete it, but the phone continue to display I had a voice mail!.
I have also tested both. Congrats to both chefs and a job well done.

NFSFAN developed diskdrive function for vogue.....its a long story but original driver was developed by no2chem, popup skin in no2chem version doesnt look so nice as in nfsfan's version.they had a copyrights conflict and NFSFAN were banned from ppcgeeks...

Sorry if this has been covered ....
Thoughts so far:
1. 23081 seems faster
2. Tap and hold for moving icons is a nice change over 6.5 (where it would move to top or bottom) but with items in sub folders there is no way to get them to flow to the top of the master menu.
3. Is there any way to check system resources? I can't seem to find a task manager anywhere?

3. Is there any way to check system resources? I can't seem to find a task manager anywhere?2. If you want to move icons from a sub folder to the "master menu" get a file explorer go here:
My device > Windows > Start Menu
Then cut and paste any icon into any folder. You can even make your own folders or delete existing ones. Be careful you don't lose any icons.
3. If you want to check memory: Start > Settings > System > Memory
If you want a task manager, it is right there in the Start Menu....??
There are MANY other options for task manager, if you need more than the one in the ROM search the forum.

I removed titanium from all manila roms, sorry
Any way we could get the 6.5.1 with titanium (or a maybe even a cab if possible)? I really enjoyed the simpler ui.
**edit: clicked on the no manila link in your sig and there it is! Thank you!

Sorry if this is a stupid question - but when I goto the carrier cab link - I'm not sure if I should be doing TITAN or TOUCH PRO as I have a Touch Vogue... ?? Thanks! Getting ready to finally upgrade my Alltel Touch after having it over a year.

See the first post for the link to the carrier cab.
Yes I have seen the link - that's where my question comes from. I have a Touch Vogue - the link takes me to TWO directories, one being "Titan", and "Touch Pro" -each having different cabs. Which one is appropriate for the Touch Vogue??

OK thanks - I used that one. I can't quite tell what it adds or changes but Vin's Rom from post 2 seems to be working well so far! Nice job
I'm new to 6.5 AND Manilla so I keep playing around with stuff. I had an issue the very first go-round, where touchflo wouldn't start (although it started the very first boot). After a hardreset it kept working. I wanted to play with a different alltel cab so I did another hard reset, again the touchflow stopped working after applying the weather thing and the alltel cab. I am not sure what causes that, but seems to be related to the weather cab.
vin255764
2nd November 2009, 12:08 AM
seanmcd72,its known issue. You have to setup your city first in manila weather widget after that you can install the weather fix to get weather on home screen
seanmcd72
2nd November 2009, 12:14 AM
Ok I must be doing something wrong, unless it's not taking when I set the City. I just did a hard reset, let it boot, reset after it settled, ran alltel cab, reset, selected city, ran weather CDMA fix, reset - no touchflow.
EDIT - :)
Ok got it working - uninstalled the cab, started TouchFlo, went back to the weather config, set my city, it updated, reinstalled the cab, reset - TouchFlo starts!
So is that correct about the Carrier cab - from that link I should be going in the Titan folder and not the Touch Pro folder? Thanks - I have a new phone again!
EDIT AGAIN - I'm really rusty after taking a year off! I need the Carrier cab from the titan folder, other one (Touch Pro) will not work for sure. (i can't get a data connection with the Touch Pro version). I have to add my city and make it update before doing the Weather fix cdma cab, otherwise TouchFlo won't start up... ;)
What's up with the Apple logo on boot up?? Wish that wasn't there! (don't get me wrong I like Apple, own a Macbook and run OSX on my custom PC)

Any else see other new features I might not know about?

Thanks for the ROM vin!!
I installed it today and love WinMo 6.5 so far!! My only problem is that even though I followed the directions, my M2D still messed up. I set up my city, installed the weather fix, and TouchFLO wouldn't launch after I restarted. I then installed Scotchua's Manilla Fix and it got TouchFLO to laungh again, but now the clock looks a little weird. Does anybody know what I should do in this situation? Thanks!

Hello All,
I am new here and just joined last night. In the past, I had a friend do some upgrades on my phone but now I am trying to do this stuff myself. I just wanted to post a big THANKS to Vin. I PM'd him last night a couple of times to ask some noob questions and he was very helpful. It was nice to see that someone would help a complete stranger. You don't find that to often anymore. Most sites get pretty clicky and don't want to help you unless you know somebody. Well, this was my first attempt to do this myself and everything went great (with some coaching). I have a lot to learn but I think a can work my way thru it with the support that is on here.
Thanks, Prolibuss

I have always gotten this to work by clearing the database then saving my town as the only one in the list. Once I had added it to the weather tab I install the CDMA weather fix cab and soft reset. I have never had an issue with this order. I know its a little beside the point now, but maybe when you flash again you will find this of assistance. Thanks!

Vin,
this ROM is nice indeed. I just went from NSFANS v16 to this one and really like it. 2 things that were helpful on v16 were the RSS reader and the Advance Config utility. I am going to talk to my friend Google and see if I can't locate both. This is 6.5.1 right?
Again, great job!

So theres nothing that I can do now to fix my problem with Manila2D? Is reflashing the ROM my only option?
Oh and also to add more detail to my problem, TouchFLO crashes when I go to the text messages tab. So that along with the Clock looking weird is the extent of my problem. I made it look a little better by disabling the analog clock and the alarm status because they were overlapping each other, but if there is a more direct solution to the problem that would be great.
Thanks again for the help.

I am not sure what you have going on there. But if I were to have this many issues I would just reflash again. The phone is not doing you any good in the state its in, so it wont hurt. I am sure this isnt the response you are looking for.
reflashing is how I resolve the majority of my one off issues like that.

Hey Vin,
Can you post the official Audiopara.csv file here? I want to try it out on NFSFan's rom. My phone is currently flashed NFSFan. I think people have been playing around with the wrong settings in the audiopara. Its not the mic volume thats the problem I believe, but the actual threshold for background noise. i.e. the threshold is set too high, so a person's voice is muted out as background noise. The mic works fine as soon as you put your mouth on the mic pinhole and talk normally.
Thanks,

First off, you've created a fantastic ROM, easily the best I've flashed. It (or I) just have one shortcoming. I can't for the life of me figure out how to change my email signature. When I go to settings it just opens the mail setup window. Please let me know if I'm missing something or if there is a reg hack or anything I can do to fix this, as it's pretty critical for me to change my signature. Can anyone advise?
Thanks!

My biggest issue is that you can't close programs by pressing x, have read your suggestions. I have one as well. QuickMenu (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340352). With this program you can set a shortcut in your win/start men/programs folder to close all apps. Then set the camera button to execute that shortcut. Not as good as when the app closes, the app friggin closes. However you are just one click away from closing all apps. Hope this helps, thanks to nanling. Also, download the zip from the second post, first one is not english.
