Kaiser as an external GPS...

So, has anyone been able (or even tried) to get something like this working yet?

Kaiser running GPSGate
Notebook running Google Earth
Use Kaiser as external GPS for Google Earth

Try as I might, I just can't get this to work. Google Earth just can't seem to recognize my Kaiser as a GPS device.

i have done this before over bluetooth (instructions were for xp but was no prob with vista). it uses GPS2Blue (free) http://users.skynet.be/hofinger/GPS2Blue.html

the site i used seems to have gone now but from the page i saved:
"Here is what i did:

On your PDA
1. Go to BT settings on your device and make it discoverable.
2. Go to COM Ports Tab and create a new incoming port (mine is COM6)



In GPS2Blue
3. set your GPS to 4 (this is your internal GPS port ..see under Start –> Settings–>GPS)
4. enable BT on and set it to the COM you created in step 2.
5. Press Button ON



On your PC
6. Open your Bluetooth settings… i used Microsoft not Widcomm
7. Add a new Device
8. Choose your PDA
9. When this is done click properties on your device and go to the TAB services.
10. Now it will find a serial Port (SPP) ‘Serial Port’ COM 8 (in my case) enable it and press OK.
11. Now go to the TAB Com Ports and press button ADD. Choose your device and choose the Serial port.Now you have connected COM port 8 on your PC to COM Port 6 on your device. The only thing you will have to do is choose COM Port 8 as your GPS port in your application."

Thanx for the instructions! Unfortunately, I've run into a bit of a snag. Following your instructions...

START > Settings > Bluetooth
Click "Mode" tab
Click "Turn on Bluetooth"
Click "Make this device visible..."
Click "COM Ports" tab

At this point, I have no option anywhere within my Bluetooth settings to "...create a new incoming port..." Even the instructions in the Bluetooth control panel state, "After pairing with a device, to set up a COM port tab New Outgoing Port." Unfortunately, that option is nowhere to be found. Could this be an issue with the phone ROM? Perhaps the developer left the functionality out by accident?
