How do I upgrade to windows mobile 6.5

But what I don't understand is if my phone is already unlocked and unbranded why I have to go through this step?

Just download ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Cheetah/Unlocker/CheetahUnlocker.rar at first.
After you have ran step 1 and you spl is updated (you can check it by pressing the lowest left side button and reset button at the same time, lowest line should say something like 1.4 .olinex).
When you have succesfully done that boot your phone again and move the 6.5 rom image to your phones sd-card. I use this one with app pack http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541417 and you can read about my experiences with it from the last page of that thread.
After copying the file (should be named CHEEIMG.nbh) to your sd-card just run the step 1 in the cheetahunlocker.exe program and your phone should boot and start to install the rom you chose.
I also needed to update radio in order to get 3g/hsdpa work here in Finland...

Can not get to 3rd step ("Press and hold "Shift" and "2" on your keyboard and click the title bar of CheetahUnlocker. This will unlock all 3 options. Click the 3rd option "Flash Normal Radio".) This does not unlock all 3 buttons it repeats step 2, My phone asks to install software I accept, but it goes to boot loader mode which disconnects from my computer. What to do?

It's Shift + @ key if you're on a UK standard keyboard - bare in mind the US keyboard layout swaps " and @ around :)

click box at bottom and keep trying the shift 2. It eventually works. keep clicking all over the application screen. it seems the box at the bottom was my solution. I ended up with a radio that was slower on internet browsing. I had to flash another radio.
