P.S.: I don't want to start any war.

As I already wrote to Flar via PM, I'm really bored to see how some moderators spamming everywhere here in XDA, some example?

and, this is the PM I sent to Flar (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=298610):

I have been hesitating for weeks before writing to you, but recently there has been an increasingly blatant situation where some moderators (duttythroy, tom_codon and itje, above all) have started to spam users towards their forum (htcpedia.com).
I find this attitude to be generally censorable, and utterly incorrect towards XDA, moreover being against forum rules; the fact that these people are moderators themselves and part of the staff only makes the situation paradoxical and outrageous, at least as far as XDA forum rules allow for.
Just to make a recent example, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=570366
This thread has even been made sticky! The free advertisement here is blatant, in my opinion: spamming is also helped from the fact that threads can be made sticky by the moderators opening them, getting an enhanced visibility.
Do you deem this behaviour to be acceptable under current forum rules?
Don’t you think that the role of a moderator should not be used to take profit from their position and get free advertisement in each and every discussion, leading to htcpedia.com?
While explicitally confirming to you that I don’t want to start any war, I think that in my opinion there is need for these moderators to change their attitude showing a greater respect for their role in XDA.
XDA is made of people, both users and moderators, and I believe that trust for the role of the latter is fundamental for the attitude of the former.Forum rules (http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=262):

7. Do not spam.

If you wish to advertise a product, contact us we provide ads. But do not post it in the forums, it will be removed and you're likely to receive a ban.
You are however allowed to sell used goods like your own device, parts of your device or accessories for your device in the marketplace forum, please read the rules there before posting. (This rule includes signatures, if you use a signature it will appear in your post)I hope the Admin will stop all this spam.

Just my 2 cents.

I totally agree that noone should spam - even Mods with their function shouldn't of course too.
But the way to contact head admin is already enough tbh ;) No need to do a board post.

There is a report spam thread where this post should go and that way Mods and Admin can take care of the problem easily

I fully agree with udK, a mod should not spam or should not be a mod.

Agreed to both udK and bliblablub,
No-one should disrespect the rules.

So, since this has been reported to the Site-Admin, I will close (not delete!) this thread until Flar's ruling about this complaint.

With kind regards,

EqX

Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd respond in public, I will not leave this thread open because I'm afraid this will turn into large flame discussion soon enough if I leave it open.

The moderators in question have received a warning or ban, most threads are still open, this because we have no rules forbidding people (mods included) to link to other forums. Though htcpedia might look commercial, in principle it isn't, it does not run ads, it does not sell things, it does run reviews and one can debate the commercial nature of those, but I don't think it necessary.

It has always been an unwritten rule that one does not link to competitors, but I will discuss if and if so in what way we will make it an official rule with the moderator group.

Best regards,

Flar
