Nice one! Only bug I can see is that the dialer isn't HTC - it's the Donut one. Just letting you know.

I like the theme, especially the app slider. I do have two suggestions though. One is doing something to blend the different color box around the time better, it looks like an awkward block. Then also, change the color of the date on the top when you pull down the notification shade. Its currently black on black.

Good suggestions - both are high on the list. I almost didn't release because of the clock but I wanted to have a native Res donut with themed dialer out there... I should have an update in a few days.

plemen, I added your ROM to my theme thread. 3rd post will be the running list. Hope we can keep them coming. I can help you with the notification text color if you want. Or you can grab the services.jar from mine which is already hex edited for white text.

what should my lcd density be set to?
Edit: also, in spare parts when I set the end keys function to"home then sleep" it doesn't work. anyway to fix that?
DOUBLE Edit: turns out it does work, just takes a whole 7 seconds to do so.

lcd.density=120 works well. To be honest I've left this out while testing and the default looks pretty good too.

The new button mapping is long-hold camera to return home. Leave the end key at default.

No it doesn't - I'll look at adding shortly.

NOTE - if you downloaded the new build yesterday or this morning, please re-download - the dl lonk was still pointing to the old file.

The time looks a lot better now. I really like this build, its my new everyday one. The one complaint I still have is the date is impossible to read when the notification shade is pulled down.

EDIT: attempting now to make it work with mssmision's method.

EDIT: attempting now to make it work with mssmision's method.

Fixed the date - keep the input coming.

I was using mssmision's method for a while - had some mysterious reboots using that and will have to test more - now I'm back to sqsh. If anyone is interested in an .ext2 file let me know. You can use ext2 instead of the sqsh if you want to modify any system files while the phone is live.

Is the new download with the fixed date compatible with the mssmision method? I want to use that and yours. Have had no restarts and it definitely runs faster.

If u still aren't seeing the white text for date try running the sqsh with the oldder basefiles. I can repload tomorrow if its still an issue.

Very nice build (11/07)...my current everyday-er.

One comment that I haven't seen mentioned: In the "title bar" of each program (area just under the pull down window), it looks like the text is getting cut off. I see it in calendar, the web browser, etc. May just be an alignment issue, but the bottoms of g's and y's are missing. A very very (can i stress very?) minor issue, but I thought i'd point it out since I haven't noticed it on other builds. Again, nice job.

Hmm - not sure what could be causing those - the gmail is from tattoo and maps from eclair but the rest is all donut. I'll be posting a new build early next week with a few updates...

How did the 320 x 480 res work out with this build (I suppose I could try it :) )? If you and other folks prefer that res I could have a seperate build for that as well as the native 240 x 320.

So, turn by turn does not work since libgps driver does not provide acceleration. But it seems to be this would be easy to fix, as it is simple to calculate acceleration based on measuring GPS on a clock.

Is anyone already working on this problem? If not, can anyone point me to where the heck I can find the source code for this patched libgps.so kernel module so I can try to fix it myself by comparing it to the git repository?

US users note version without maps on first post, use this for better Google navigation.just download Google maps from the market. You will need a fresh data file if running from the sd card, or if running from nand/ext2 and using the previous heroblend 2.4.2 run the commands listed at the link below before switching your system.sqsh.

Are you still getting the home screen reloads? You're using straight haret with sqsh if I recall correctly and you would be using the same donut.conf for both 242 eclair and 242 heroblend. I'm running with an ext2 partition with haret and haven't experienced this...

Unzip this to your sdcard - you will end up with a folder called android with all of the necessary files. Run Haret.exe and remember to you need to reboot once after everything is loaded for Data to work.

I have one primary ext2 and one fat32 partition - when I want to load a new rom I put the system.sqsh file in /sdcard/android. When I run Haret it will prompt once to press voldn to enter the Android utilities and then one more time to upgrade the system (voldn once, wait voldn again).

I'm pretty sure I've tried 2 ext2 parts in the past but was a while ago - have you ever had a working system with your current partition configuration?

I always had success with running it off just the FAT32 partition and then I read in some posts that the ROM will run alot quicker if there is a ext2 partition as well. So I decided to try it and that's where I'm getting the androidpower: wakeup loop happening.

I could be mistaken, but I think the rootfs.img file is what contains the necessary code to make bluetooth work. There is no full bluetooth capability yet though in the project. At one point there was partial bluetooth and some people got it to work with a few devices, but nothing solid or worth counting on. I do believe its still in the works though.

Hey folks,

I've been toying around with different builds on my vogue, and decided to stick with this one for debugging. I am running into a problem though, and hopefully someone can offer suggestions.

Anyone who has been following my posts knows I have been having issues writing to nand with my stubborn bell vogue. Well, with the latest kernel, it worked, and I am able to boot up this build. Progress! :)

The problem is, the phone completely locks up during the android setup phase. If I'm really quick and skip the tutorial and setting up the google account, I can make it to date & time settings, then it freezes.

I'm using the latest version of this build, along with the blank data.img from the first page. I'm using rootfs from 2009-12-15 as the main page suggested. I'm also using the latest kernel with the correct resolution for this build.

The only bit of debugging information I can give at this time is I always run into:

"mdp irq already on 4 4"
"mdp_dma_to_mddi: busy"
"kernel panic - not syncing: fatal exception in interrupt"

This is a kernel message, and might be unrelated to the problem I'm having getting through setup, but in the interest of full disclosure, its here...

Thanks!
Shado

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Quick question. I had been using this build for a few months and it was very snappy and I loved it. I wanted to just try out a diff. build so I changed it, that build was laggy so I came back to this build.

I am finding it to be laggy also. When I look at Task Killer there is only 15-20 megs of ram whereas it used to be almost 40.

Did I so something wrong when I reinstalled it? Do we need a donut.conf file? Any advice? (Running from NAND)

I should have provided more instructions in my post. I'm using vilord's rootfs with new libgps and bluetooth init. This rootfs uses a menu (voldn) to load rootfs and system.sqsh to nand memory.

Sooo please make sure you press voldn when prompted while booting - the first time it will notice you have a new rootfs and load that to nand; next boot press voldn again to load the sqsh to memory - it will prompt you to backup existing data, empty the data and/or load data.img from sdcard.

Try this and let me know if it works. Going to crosspost this to the Eclair thread.

haha oops I accidentally installed this version as opposed to eclair - they are both the same just the skin is different right? It's pretty I think I'll stick with it.

Everything is great... with the addition of bluetooth, legit GPS, and the speed that this build has, I feel like I can really say that I have an "android phone"

My one single issue is I really don't like tunewiki. I vastly prefer the standard music app but that's just me - I know Tunewiki is very well received but I guess I'm old school. Another weird thing was at one point I was doing multiple things and the media sound just turned off completely, regardless of the volume.. required a reboot. No biggie, just had to report my single issue lol. Is there any way to download an .apk for standard music?

Thanks again for a great build!!!

Yes - that is the other way to do it; if anybody has any issues follow berardi's lead and add 3 blank files to your sd alongside these files: systemfstonand, rootfstonand and optionally - datafstonand.

About Tunewiki - I was using it for a bit and liked how it looked up lyrics and connects to last.fm and shoutcast... and it works at 240x320. Anybody have any suggestions for a better media app?

As far as third party media apps, I've seen a few people who love Meridian Player - it seems pretty good but I still prefer the default android one because it's so finger friendly and utilitarian.

Is the Default something that has to be integrated into the build or can I just add the .apk? I don't wanna change the build for everyone, since I'm sure a bunch of people appreciate Tunewiki. It was one of the coolest things about Android when it first came out I remember :)

I have been monitoring my memory usage with a task manager and I noticed that when I boot up its around 45Megs, and if i kill apps it goes back to 45.
However after awhile the free space starts getting lower, even though no apps are running.

Also, does the nbh file have an impact on speed or is it just compatibility?

I can post the old one back but I am finding this one is just as fast and it fixes a few bugs; if you're using an old data file you must clear the dalvik-cache. Here is a quick descrition for dalvik-cache:

When Android starts up, the DalvikVM looks thru all of your applications (.apk files) and frameworks, and builds a tree of dependencies. It uses this dependency tree to optimize the bytecode for every application and stores it in the Dalvik cache. The applications are then run using the optimized bytecode.

Try it and let me know if it speeds up for you. Right now this is the fastest build I've used...

The htc_ime in tattoo has dependencies to HTC Hero libraries/frameworks so unfortunately we can't pull it out and use it regular Donut. There is an htc_ime that will work but it is for a higher resolution and looks pretty crappy at our res.
