need help using htc pure

Hi folks, I brought a new htc pure .. I love the phone but this is my 1st taste with the windows mobiles .. so i am nt sure how things go around in them .. i am good using the phone but i am not sure about the software or other updates and stuff that goes around .. i read few forums but i coulndt understand the rom updates and stuff dat every1 was discussing .. can any1 help me in enlighting dat too ... i tried installing applications like youtube which didnt recognize my phone and skyfire didnt come in landscape and so .. if possible can any one give a brief note on how i can make my mobile a better piece.
