Help!!! I had to dismantle my Polaris in order to replace the little plastic piece that keeps the SD Card slot closed to avoid the dust.

When I opened the case, the SIM card ribbon got disconnected, but I put it back tightly into the slot again before closing it again.

When I booted up, it said SIM Card is missing. It's like hell! I opened lots of times and nothing works. The SIM slot appears to have a GND connection to the main board and it comes with a little piece like a pillow that sits between the two pieces (SIM slot and main board). It makes contact when you close the case, and I think it's alright.

What can I do? Did somebody have the same problem? Any technician here?
:(

I had the same problem, I had to buy a new sim reader, and replace it, you probably damaged the flat cable. I replaced it and now it's ok.

I bought it here http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-cruise-card-module-p-3676.html

Hope I helped.

Hello! Thanks for your answer. I'm alone with this...

I've just ordered a SIM reader to the website you told me above. But I'm worried about having bought it, because I actually don't know whether the SIM reader is broken or not. Is there any way to know if it's the data cable or the GND signal?

It's so strange...! I just opened the case, and the ribbon got out, but I didn't force it. Is it so weak?

Is I believe it's very weak, i Didn't force it either, I believe you can check the continuity of the contacts on the sim reader to the end of the flat cable. mine was broken, but i didn't know how, I was very carefuller.

Good luck

Thanks a lot! I think my cable is fine, not much straight, but intact. I contacted a technical support service that fixed my Polaris a few months ago, and they say it's pretty common to have a problem like ours. The guy there told me that it's sometimes the socket that fails, due to an abrupt move while removing the upper case.

For the moment, I cross my fingers until I receive the new SIM reader. I know how to install it, but... if it's the socket what is broken, so long, Polaris :(

It will be the sim reader, youŽll see.

Say something when you fix it.

Cheers

Did this error appear after opening the device or ocurred all of a sudden?

all of a sudden... and they don't want to repair it because there is some small gray smudge on the screen classified under "mechanical problems".

Did you have any success replacing the sim card reader?

I think I am going to buy the above mentioned sim card reader and replace it myself... hopefully it is ii what's making the problem.

Hello
Same problem here after changing the full face houseplate but I realise that the sim flex cable is broken. With a large amount of patient I managed to fold it and put a little of fixo tape on it and now is working. Anyway I know that I should buy another sim holder soon.

Saludos

I got it! As soon as the new SIM card reader was put it recognized the SIM card! So I think the problem was a broken line in the data ribbon.

I bought the SIM card reader from the link above. Thanks A LOT!! and thanks for the link, @afsc :D!!!

My Polaris is back again to life.

You're welcome.

Good to know that your Polaris is working again. :)

By the way where did you get the little plastic piece that keeps the SD Card slot closed? Mine is in a bad state, and i would like to replace it.

Cheers

For me replacing SIM card reader worked as well. I must add that Orbit 2 is much harder to dismantle compared to Polaris.
