Just looking to see if something can take a txt, doc or pdf document and read it.

...or I'd even settle for something that can read copied text

Anything of the sort?

I'd like to know too. It seems like all the posts i've read on this talk about sms being read aloud using MS voice command, but i'd like a proper program reading out copied text, or doc and txt files. Hopefully there's some freeware someone out there can recommend.

Well the 1st one you linked isn't free or actual txt to voice directly, you have to save it to a file for playback. The 2nd one was terrible and that flite is extremely basic unfortunately and only does 8hz voices. And yes I've googled it myself and not found a decent program at all.

While this isn't how I wanted to do it, I finally went with with a program called textaloud which lets you save text to wav files for playback similar to sayvoice.

Still looking for a proper txt to voice freeware program...

Hi,

I have put together a Mortscript which allows you put any text into a text msg and have it send to your own phone.

My app does turn on the voice announcing and turn it back off after the msg has been received. This is if you have voice announcing turned off.

I know this is not free, but I had to start somewhere. I am going to add 1Liner support so it can read jokes.

I do know there is an app called Flite, but I don't know if it works at all any more.
