View Full Version : Treo Pro GSM HardSPL Final Test

cmonex
11th November 2009, 03:03 AM
IMPORTANT: I don't have time waiting on IRC sitting on my ass, I need to sleep. so this final package wasn't tested as I don't have this device myself, but I'm pretty sure it'll work alright. again sorry for the delay, I was busy in life (new place to live in, RhodiumW, making a living etc... not in order of importance :) ). this release could still be waiting if I wanted to wait for someone to do final release test but I'll just let you try it.

--below text is copied from my PPCGeeks thread--

OK right now I don't have time for the final tests (am still without a device) but I suppose it works. let me know if it does.
Update: it was tested at ppcgeeks and works. ;)

Instructions:

first, if you have GSM treo pro (NOT CDMA, NOT SPRINT/VERIZON/TELUS), this is for your device. it is for PANT100.

steps:
0) if you have Vista or Windows 7, make sure you have latest WMDC.
1) download Hard-SPL package from attachment, extract to an empty local folder.
2) you must Have Phone Synced with PC in Windows Mobile!
3) run PANTHER_GSM_HSPL exe from the folder
4) follow steps in the program!
5) it should go to tricolour screen now, i.e. SSPL mode, and show 0.59.C-SSPL. now follow steps in the RUU that's launched by now.
6) SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done. if you get any errors, follow the instructions offered by the program.
7) to confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and verify the screen shows 0.59.CMONEX.

NOTE: you will not see the SPL version during normal boot!
to enter bootloader mode to see version: with the device turned on, press and hold the Camera button along with the Power button, then press the reset button with the stylus tip, then release the Camera and Power buttons when bootloader tricolour screen appears.

NOTE 2: anyone having problems with the device entering SSPL automatically or problems with USB connection after SSPL was loaded, please copy SSPL-Manual-PantherGSM.exe from the SSPL-Manual-PantherGSM_V059.zip (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48052&stc=1&d=1257903452) attachment to the device and run it (device must be plugged in to USB). then once the screen is in SSPL, run CustomRUU from Panther_CustomRUU.zip (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48053&stc=1&d=1257903449) attachment manually and flash NBH file from PantGSM_HardSPL059.zip (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48054&stc=1&d=1257903506).

NOTE 3: this is unsigned Hard-SPL. no limitations on flashing ROMs. also, this has overwrite protection, if someone needs to revert to stock SPL for warranty reasons, a stock SPL downgrade package will soon be posted.

NOTE 4: do not use this RUU to flash anything else! this is only intended for flashing the HardSPL.

finally, if you wish to thank me with a donation, you can do so by clicking the link the HardSPL program offers, or here: http://hpcmonex.net/htc/pantc/panther.htm (http://hpcmonex.net/htc/pantc/panther.htm)

Troubleshooting tips:

- read the instructions
- read the instructions
- read the instructions
- if you have USB issues:
1. anyone having problems with the device entering SSPL automatically or problems with USB connection after SSPL was loaded, please copy SSPL-Manual-PantherGSM.exe from the SSPL-Manual-PantherGSM_V059.zip (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48052&stc=1&d=1257903452) attachment to the device and run it (device must be plugged in to USB). then once the screen is in SSPL, run CustomRUU from Panther_CustomRUU.zip (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48053&stc=1&d=1257903449) attachment manually and flash NBH file from PantGSM_HardSPL059.zip (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48054&stc=1&d=1257903506).
2. if it still has connection error in SSPL screen, try unplugging and replugging the USB
3. try different USB port, PC, etc.
4. when there are sync issues, the program also suggests installing this file on the phone: http://hpcmonex.net/roms/enablerapinew.cab (http://hpcmonex.net/roms/enablerapinew.cab), just making a note here too.

steps for stock SPL restore:

--posted soon-- (edit: mmm reminder to myself, this one has full overwrite prot.)

Download ItsUtils from here, and extract the zip.
http://nah6.com/itsme/itsutilsbin-20090515.zip
Connect your Treo Pro using ActiveSync or WMDC
Run these commands. The first time you run them, you will have to allow a dll to run on your device. Just follow the on screen prompts.

HI,

my first post here...:)
so, I have a vodaphone (spanish ROM) , and I could run with the manual method this hard-Spl update. Now , I have SPL-0.59.CMONEX
CPLD-2 on my bootloader screen (3 colors)
This seems to work fine so far..

--> My final aim is to use it in France (WM in french if possible, but english would be fine too).
If i enter a french sim card , it is still simlocked , is this expected?
thanks for you help.

PS: if you succeed with me, you're sure that it will work for others ;-)

how much have u downloaded ? and how long will it take for u to make a kitchen for us ?

I have the kitchen built, but I have some concerns.

1.) I have no way to test, as I dont have a GSM Treo Pro. So, I cant guarantee it wont brick the phone.
2.) There have been no official rom updates for the GSM Treo Pro, so I dont have a .nbh file to use as a template. So, I used the one from the CDMA Treo Pro with the GSM OEM and XIP.
3.) I have no way to test. So again, I cant guarantee it wont brick the phone.

Didnt Boot!!!!!

I can't build an nbh directly from raw. I need one as a reference file.

I've never used pdocwrite. I'm not sure if you can use it while in bootloader mode. Which is all we would be able to get into if the phone is bricked. Anybody know a tech we could get a service rom from?

that's not really a brick, just needs a rom flash (compatible rom). oh and apparently hellketty already built a working custom rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=582773 :)

the key for recovering your 'brick' hp is copy GSM PANTIMG.NBH into your TF card, then follow the normal rom loading procedures.

usb-way won't help, interface always shown MODULE ID error during 1% progress.

yes, it's 6.1, with today wireless removed, ugly battery indicator replaced by volume icon, storage memory 4MB in use, program memory 36MB in use.

For Chinese language support, you can remove it when GSM ROM kitchen released in the future.

I'm not able to flash the device. :( I keep getting the CONNECTION ERROR [260]. I've downloaded the latest version of WMDC, it's installed, it sees my phone and is connected. When I run the HardSPL, the phone goes to the multi-color screen (and says SPL-0.59.C-SSPL) and the program says it's verifying the device, and then gives the connection error.

I've installed the cab file previosuly listed for USB sync issues, and also tried manually.

This is my first time doing this... so sorry for being a noob. :(

Please help!

Ok, so if I run the PANTHER_GSM_HSPL_V1000.exe, it takes it to the multi color screen, and the ROM utility loads. The utility then says it's verifying the device, and then says CONNECTION ERROR.

If I run the SSPL-Manual-PantherGSM.exe from the phone, and then run the Panther_CustomRUU.exe from my computer, it does the same thing, it says verifying the device, and then CONNECTION ERROR.

If I hold down the power, camera, and reset button, it takes me to the multi color screen, and if I run the Panther_CustomRUU.exe, it gives me the option to update the ROM. I coped over the WinMo 6.5 ROM that was just posted, and when I do the update, it sits at 0% for about 5 minutes, then gives an error 262...

Little help! Thanks!!

1 find a language support cab, for example, Russia language cab.
2 use 'cab manager' to dump that cab(dll, xml etc...) into a folder.
3 use 'GUID generator' generate unique ID for it, and if nothing wrong you should get dsm & rgu files, put these two files into that folder also.
4 drop that folder into kitchen/oem.
5 click 'create rom' in kitchen interface.
6 get 'PANTIMG.NBH' from 'kitchen/rom_released' folder.
7 burn it into your hp.
done.

Well, I think my initial problem is that I was trying to flash with the Winmo 6.5 ROM first, before using the cmonex ROM. I tried flashing it with the RUU_signed for cmonex, and it seems to be working now. I'm now flashing it to WM 6.5 Thanks!!

hi!

i learned yesterday, how to flash it, i have now flashed it, it works , thanks for this good step, it is no longer in spanish ( To be honest french would be nicer...) but it is still not a mobile phone because the sim remaines locked.. I thought that to flsah the rom would solve this, but not...can I expect a solution soon?

Thanks to Cmonex. It works fine and I have flashed my Treo Pro to WM6.5.

One issue is: I received "invalid mobile ID" when trying to flash a ROM in another language with RUU flasher. I believe it was because the CID is not unlocked.

I am wondering if there is a way to unlock CID?

Thanks!

Hi Mccune.. looking forward to your realvga fixes. Followed your stuff closely on the Stock 6.1 rom. Btw, I found out ebag's realvga works pretty good on NightRaven's 6.5 rom. you can check out the short discussion here with some feedback. Please post if you get any further work done with it! Troubleshooting tips:

steps for stock SPL restore:

--posted soon-- (edit: mmm reminder to myself, this one has full overwrite prot.)

Hi Cmonex. I'm a newbie wanting to try flashing my ROM for the first time, but a bit nervous about not being able to get back to 'stock' if it all goes ugly.

Currently my stock phone shows: PANT100 SPL-0.61.Token CPLD-2 then down the screen bottom: Serial

Do you have a way to restore the stock SPL yet??

The Lepricon

Can anyone help me?

I was flashing back to stock SPL, using sd card, and pulled the sd card out while it was flashing (don't ask, I seemed to forget for a moment what I was doing and realized I needed my card for my other phone) Now, I have the stock SPL, shows PANT200 SPL-0.36.0000 CPLD-2 when phone starts, and says "Upgrade ROM code error Please Try Again". But, if I put my sd card in it with PANTIMG.nbh SPL file, then I get a screen that says "Loading...". And that's it, left it like that forever it seems and no change.

Any idea? It won't connect to the computer so I can't flash from computer. Even QPST won't find it.

FWIW: I do kinda know what I am doing. Unlocked mine and wife's Treo Pros with Cmonex hard spl, and flashed several ROMs, including a couple I cooked with NightRaven's kitchen. I was just going back to stock cause my wife doesn't like changes, and now this happened.

TIA,
Malachi

[QUOTE=cmonex;4920347]IMPORTANT: I don't have time waiting on IRC sitting on my ass, I need to sleep. so this final package wasn't tested as I don't have this device myself, but I'm pretty sure it'll work alright. again sorry for the delay, I was busy in life (new place to live in, RhodiumW, making a living etc... not in order of importance :) ). this release could still be waiting if I wanted to wait for someone to do final release test but I'll just let you try it.

Please show me that after done in step 5, what will I do next?
Thank you in advance

It worked. I just had to re-initiate the USB in the tri-color screen. Thanks cmonex.

I do have the same issue. I tried a lot of options including taking TF card and SIM card out of the device. I went through multiple ROMs 6.1 and 6.5.
I still have random reboots and when my TP come back the battery charge is reported as 0%.
I started the process to talk to Palm to send it in. I believe it's a hardware error and I woudl recommend the same to you.

Update:
I have been able to resolve the issue of random reboots. It turned out to be a defective battery.
Didn't happen again since I exchanged the battery.

First of all, thanks alot for all the work your putting in!

Unfortunately I can't get it working.

When I run it, after getting into the tricolor screen I have switch USB ports to get the USB sunc working agan. After that I press next two times after which it starts "Verifying the information on your....", when this stage finishes it shows: Image version: <blank> and when I press "Update" it goes on to the From-To screen with again a empty current image version and the new image version (0.59.cmon). Pressing next two times results in the progressbar showing on both the device and the screen going from 0 to 100% within a second. The it reboots into the standard WM 6.1.

So it seems that somehow the the current image information can't be read. I already changed the sync cable without succes.

Current image information in the tricolor screen:
PANT100 MFG
SPL-0.59.C-SSPL
CPLD-2

Any help would be much appreciated!

hi, can you tell me how to make a stock spl??

Cmonex is the only one who actually knows how to work with SPL and the Palm Treo Pro has a overwrite protection so he wasn't able to release a Stock one sorry but you really don't need it heard Palm allows repairing your Treo even if it has HardSPL

I will make a ROM that has the calibration data already built in ROM using OSKitchen because it has an option to add the calibration Data. which build do you prefer?

Sorry for the bad English and understand, I have a Treo-m with the following parameters:
PANT100
SPL-0.59.0000
CPLD-2
Any sub-Rom trying, are unable to upgrade to 6.5.
What should I do?
