I'm very disapointed... Check out how it formats the pages, looks like crap compared to 9.5... I've tried many sites and they all look so much better in 9.5. I was really hoping they would have fixed this since the 9.7 beta...

The UI feels nothing new since I've been using Opera Mini 5 since it was released... This looks very much the same...

Doesnīt work on my Touch HD. It starts, but then it stopps saying on the top bar Opera Mobile 10 beta and i canīt press any button and no page is coming up. Thought it would make some autoconfiguration for the first time, but even after 5 minutes nothing happens. Ok itīs stil beta, but shouldnīt it at least start? :D

It's work fine on my hd!
At the first time you must start it from start menu, so it complete the setup process with the aknowledgement, after you can use from internet tab!

Someone use landscape mode, i didn't find it...

Am I the only one who thinks the official 9.7 beta was better???

It used the accelerometer on my Diamond and had really cool animation effects when tilting the device into landscape and other stuff....

Is there a way to enable accelerometer in Opera 10???

Also is this version not opengl accelerated like 9.7 was, besides the new "improved" UI I think this version is a step back from 9.7.

I don`t know some peoples already say about the new Opera 10 its nothing more than all other versions but i don`t think so.

1st when i install on my HD this beta i saw its much more faster than the 9.7 or 9.5 Also the view of the pages is much more better and clear and all the menus of the opera are just fast and awsome.

On the same time i just test for how long will load a page.

For example i choice a random page and i use Opera 9.5 then use Opera 10 for the same page in the same internet connection and i can say that this 10 BETA is minimum 3 times faster than the old Opera.

The Only bad things is that still not have a full Flash support but soon this will be fixed and then we will have a awsome fast beauty Browser for our devices

Maybe depends from ROM`s or....

If this matter im with NRG ROM from the signature.

I really don't like the single touch zooming, how annoying is that :( everytime I click a link it zoomes in and I have to zoom out again...

don't know if this is a good development, it is defenately quick, but it lacks in quite a few things.

owziee
18th November 2009, 04:08 PM
Also the view of the pages is much more better and clear and all the menus of the opera are just fast and awsome.

Compare it to Opera mobile 9.5 and you will see that 9.5 shows the pages exactly as they look on the PC in overview mode... Opera 10 makes the sites look bad since it wraps the columns in overview before you've zoomed in. I can't stand using this browser until they've fixed this issue.

The turbo mode on 10 is a lot slower than the turbo mode in opera mini 5 beta. Very disappointed, as most times I don't care for perfect rendering...just want to be able to read what I want to read quickly.

I'll continue to use mini as my main browser, as it also uses a lot less memory. 10 is nice if I need to do some "real" web browsing though.

Steeve24
18th November 2009, 06:25 PM
Is anyone else missing Opera link, it was great for Mini, but still not on 9.5-9.7-10, saw somewhere that it was not included on 9.7 as it was a beta, but if all they release is beta's then its never gonna happen :o(

\Program Files\Opera Mobile 10\

Your existing Opera Mobile will be untouched.
The newly installed Opera Mobile 10 automatically imports the bookmarks from your older version of Opera Mobile.

I noticed that the bookmarks in OM 10 stored somewhere under the profiles\datastorage folder. So I just back up that whole folder before I want to restore my bookmarks after a hard reset / flash.

Thanks for the info, i was more worried about it overwriting a config file since i like to tweak it quite a bit. Ill give 10 a shot on my tp2 and see how well if at all the hardware will work.

My guess is they are trying to make it more like opera mini, which is odd opera mini should be trying to emulate opera mobile not the other way around.

So i mapped the zoom bar to opera mobile 10 and it didnt zoom. What it does do is move the on screen mouse up and down the page, but no zoom. The fact that it pre renders the page so that text columns are already the size they need to be to zoom in on is not promising. In fact not sure why i would use this browser over opera mini 5.
no mention of zooming of anykind in opera config file

One thing they did improve is the opera:config they allow you to choose stuff instead of having to type in the filepath.

So far, it's ok, definitely buggy and hangs and crashes a bit.

Quick tip for VGA (and higher) devices: Go to "opera:config" (yes, it's still there!) and under "User Preferences" set the "Minimum Font Size" to "12". This will make mobile sites much more readable, like the mobile version of espn.com -- as it is right now, it look ugly and is hard to read (the text is tiny!) but if you adjust that setting, it is great and looks nice.

Probably more settings in the opera:config that can (or should) be tweaked to get things working well.

Anyone else find anything good to change?

Sucks, compared to 9.7. Uncomfortable scrolling, no sync (I expected that) actually no new features.. Just a redesigned GUI with a couple of nice buttons. 1-2% faster, but it's not worth it.

I actually wonder there's no other good mobile browser except Opera; IE and Skyfire are far from good ones, I think.

I think the Opera 10 UI is worse than 9.7b1...

9.7 kicks ass compared to 10, a few examples...

* 9.7 is opengl accelerated on my Diamond, 10 seems not...
* Awesome animation/transitions or whatever it's called? when tilting the device and it switches to landscape, looks like the iPhone browser...
* Hyper fast interface and only 1 click to access bookmarks...
What the heck is Opera doing with their mobile browser... They make it look exactly like Opera Mini 5 but now I actually prefer mini 5 to Opera Mobile 10...

Also they gave us the option to use turbo which is nice but the difference between Opera 10 & mini 5 is now minimal when using turbo, so maybe they won't release a new Opera Mobile after version 10 since it already works just like mini 5 apart from that Opera Mobile supports local rendering. The versions kind of melts into one very similar app so they don't need to develop 2 versions in the future, what do you think???

EyeAmRubber

What makes you think 10 can't be accelerated? It's just a beta.

What, 9.7? 10 has a much nicer UI.

What the heck is Opera doing with their mobile browser... They make it look exactly like Opera Mini 5
As they said, they are merging their products to give them a coherent UI. Makes perfect sense.

Also they gave us the option to use turbo which is nice but the difference between Opera 10 & mini 5 is now minimal when using turbo
Nope. There is a huge difference: Mini is a thin client, and depends on a server to do anything. Mobile is a full browser with full Ajax and all that stuff. Mini is really for low-end phones.

The versions kind of melts into one very similar app so they don't need to develop 2 versions in the future, what do you think???
Yes they do because Opera Mobile can do stuff Mini can't, but Mini can run on more phones.

Also, Mobile can support plugins (like the Flash plugin). Mini can't.

Dunno if this is normal or not, the Java-based Opera Mini runs terribly slow compared to native Windows Mobile Opera browser. I think it's definitely not suitable for use in WM phones.

tSkyfire?
Nope. They have the plugin installed on the server which Skyfire needs to do anything. Then they convert it to a different format which is sent to the actual Skyfire browser on the phone. So again, no support for Flash in the browser itself.

That's because Adobe made a Flash plugin specifically for IE. IE still doesn't support Flash. It supports plugins, and they simply added a Flash plugin.

Of course, being the evil bastards that they are, Microsoft decided that other browsers were not to use their Flash plugin.

My bookmarks did not import. I have saved the opera6.adr and searches.ini files from 9.5 but the the opera mobile 10 beta uses some kind of crappy binary format for bookmarks and searches. You are correct, they are in the \datastorage folder and the dat files contain the data. I verified my bookmarks are in there using a hex editor on my PC :)

This is really stupid, I don't want to have to figure out how to hack their binary format just to import my freaking bookmarks. I think I will go back to 9.7 because of this.

If they would just ADD SYNC SUPPORT then none of this would matter.

Hello Guys i saw few things.. that wana share with you
So The OPERA 10 Beta witch is Avalible Now for free download at Opera.com is not the Same Browser that they SHOW to us when they make advertisement of the New Opera 10 Beta.

What i saw is that in Opera 10 when you click Settings there u have More settings if you watch careful will see that there have a " Landscape Mode" But when u Download the Version and install it on your device you see that this Missing.

Also is writen that the Opera 10 have build Auto-Rotation witch is not true again!!!

So what i think.. maybe when they release the official Opera 10 this will avalible and but Now we can`t have it.

See what i mean!!!
================================================== ================
Landscape mode

Browse however is most comfortable to you. Landscape mode allows you to view Opera Mobile 10 on your phone in landscape.
================================================== ================
NOT TRUE

================================================== ================
Auto-Rotation

On phones that support auto-rotation Opera Mobile 10 will automatically switch between portrait and landscape modes.
================================================== ================
NOT TRUE

This all is writen under Opera Mobile features you can chek this and watch the video to see what i mean.

Opera Mobile 10 has so far been the only browser I've seen that has actual native 100% zoom on images. In Opera 9.x and Iris, even at "100%" zoom, the zoom isn't quite right, not native. Even when one tries to get to a zoom level closest to Opera Mobile 10's 100% zoom, it just doesn't work out.

For example, here is a sample picture of mine that I went to in Opera Mobile 10 and Iris 1.1.9:
http://www.mylilsite.net/images/bee/sdbee2.jpg

Opera Mobile 10 beta - 100% zoom
http://www.mylilsite.net/images/touchpro/bee2opera10-1.png

Iris Browser 1.1.9 - closest zoom to Opera's 100%

How come browsers before Opera Mobile 10 didn't even have native viewing of images? This new Opera has definitely become my browser of choice for reading web comics and anything else with any sort of relevance to images (a lot...).

Opera Mobile 10 Beta 2U Is out and it rocks over the first Beta 2. I didn't get mine from the opera site. But I just checked and let alone on there site it says beta 2 when you go to download it its beta 2U. So should be the same as what I have. It makes every browser Ive ever used look slow! and works smooth as hell on my diamound.
