How to make at total reset?

Hey!

As topic says, im wondering how to make a total reset of my phone, im going to send it on service. and im not to shure if the like my phone right now i have a custom ROM on it.

So my question do i only need to download a legit ROM and a Frimware or only a Firmware from htc.com?

Or how shall i do it? any tips and tricks?
