That version is with sense 2.5. The D2 ROMs are with Sense 2.1, but I see no reason to not have the latest ;)

The B-versions are all the same except for rhodium dialer (which has video call) instead of tachi dialer (which doesn't have videocall but supports landscape better). So all software and customizations are the very same.

You can change the camera capture method from the settings within the camera (just open the camera, press the screen and select 'Advanced'. That'll give you some options). You can also change some camera settings in Advanced Config. You can access it from the settings tab \ Advanced \ System.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying: Why NOT have the latest, which is D2X with Sense 2.5 and GTX? ;-) And I guess omniwolf will be cooking in the latest changes as soon we release GTX for the crowds. It'll be the best ROM ever!

I have one problem:
Sometimes I turned the airplane mode on for hours, but when I switch to normal mode, the phone can't get signals. Had to restart it.
Radio version is 1.17.25.09 original, works fine with other roms for a few month.

I used version R2.5 for about two months now. This is a awsome rom. But I ran into one strange problem recently. When I change the sound mode to "vibrate" in sense 2.5 settings, the phone just mute without vibrating in any cases. I missed a lot of calls and messages that day, thus I notice this problem. I want to know is this a common problem or just for me? BTW, if I choose "Vibrate and ring" as ring type in the winmo sound&Notifications settings, the phone does vibrate, even in "normal" mode.

- i cant restore my contacts with PIM backup. it says "cannot connect to outlook"

- i cant install anything. it says: "installation of this cab went wrong" (translated from german "die installation ist fehlgeschlagen)..

- the flip clock keeps returning to a random time for few seconds and then back to normal, when i open up the taskmanager. mmh >does not look healthy.

i'm using your ROM's since a couple of months now and must say - they are perfect :). No issues on daily use! And reading and following your tipps and suggestions on the first few pages (MTTY!) - nil problems until today.

But now, I've got THE PERFECT system: I have installed Co0kie's Home Tab v1.7.1 (and, of course, johncmolyneux according CHTEditor). With this (musthave!) mod, it beatyfies my system and optimizes it for my personal use. Other users posted problems with the CHT- but Your ROM is working perfectly together with it! :D

Nope, mine is a different problem, I don't know the name of the htc contacts app (not the wm default one).
maybe your problem is related to the name of the app in your translation...for example in ITA version is not contacts.lnk but contatti.lnk.

I did the following: first, install attached Burt's excellent (and highly customizable) contact application iContact 7 BETA (to device memory).

Then assign iContact to your left softkey using shaps Advanced Config Tool (it is already in the ROM, linked under "Settings" -> "System").

Hope this helps.

Edit: if you want to use any other contact application / default Outlook contacts: you can assign the prefered app (after installing it) in advanced config as well. Just select it from the drop-down menu or browse for your individual app in advanced config.

Did you check the sounds and notification menu?Start-settings-sounds & Notifications and in the sound enable the events and programs.Then go to Notifications and in the ring type select vibrate and ring.Do this if you want and for the others sound(mms,sms etc)

Use the icontact program.You can downloading from post 2042. Its very easy to find the contacts you need very fast with big letters.

Hi be-ro, as vacis already quoted, iContct is very handy. You can adjust iContact to use it with a phone-like keypad, with T9 if you want (advantage: in the other Winmo apps. your standard keybord isn't changed).
So, if you start typing the letters of your contact (first name or family name, doesn't matter) it gives you back a list wich will reduce the results as more letters you type. This is really fast if you have a lot of contacts stored on your device.

Have a nice weekend.

Edit: if you assign iContact to the left softkey you even need less tapping to find your contact (compared to Pocket Outlook or Sense contact app.).

Hi SerPiolo, you can use Sprite Backup, it has a 10 day trial period. Saved my life a lot of times ... :) (btw. the only software I bought).

As far as I know, there is no free full backup app. available, so you can't find such an app build in a ROM.

PIM Backup only backups your contacts, SMS, Mail, Call logs, Appointments etc. (a bit more what active sync in combi with outlook does)

It's quite easy:
1. Start the configuration program for iContact (not iContact itself)

Open iContact.

No it's not normal and it's because you haven't flashed using MTTY. Just search for it.

Nah, I think HTC is fading out WM and fading in Android more and more. And with good reason! ;) And you won't have to "leave" XDA just because you're switching to Android. There are forum sections for the Android devices as well and I believe that these will keep growing over the next couple of years.

Are you sure you need a new rilphone? Which Radio ROM do you have on your device?
If you use the suggested radio 1.13.25.24 (see Gen.Y's first post) you do not need an update - Gen.Y has build the corresponding rilphone (v1.13.25.24) into his ROM. This radio and the build-in rilphone are working smooth together.

But anyway, it's save to install your rilphone.cab to your device memory - the both version-no's. should not differ too much.
I've made an upgrade to radio 1.17.25.09 together with "Diamond Rilphone 1.15.25.14" - works perfectly!
And it is not complicated, just run the .cab and follow the installation dialog.

It is no problem and very easy to install GTX on top of the original ROM of this thread, so I think that might be quicker and easier than having omniwolf cooking it in :p Just make sure you choose the cfc compressed and that you install the new 1.7.1 version.

Have you activated My Location? You need to activate it in Weather Tab (press Menu and select Enable My Location). And you need to select My Location in clock settings.

Yeah there are some issues with the GTX theme and twitter tab (I suppose you mean twitter and not tweeter which is a game :p). Unfortunately no fixes yet. Any updates will be posted in the GTX thread.

i would say it's pretty much stopped. i don't see many changes coming out for winMo 6.1 anyway, and any further development to Sense will probably be for higher spec'd devices, and so won't run well on the diamond. but IMO there's no need for further development, the current latest version is pretty much a finished product.

i'm not sure about tachi, but the rhodium GTX'd ROM uses about 63% at startup (that's a fresh build with no email/calendar/contacts sync'd)
i would assume tachi would be at most the same, probably less usage.

There is nothing more to do to improve the ROM so it's very doubtful that there will be an updated version. HTC is moving on to Android so there is nothing to maintain anymore ;)

It's pretty much the same as on the original ROM - perhaps slightly lower.

You can't skin the signal bar icons on 6.1 ROMs, therefore it will not look good with a white taskbar on this ROM. It's possible but it doesn't work well. My grey theme is probably your best choice (see the BLUdroid thread in my signature).

RAM usage is not too large on this ROM - it does not make Sense crash. Have you cooked your own ROM or are you using omniwolf's ROM?

WM 6.1 is the original ROM for Diamond. It is kinda boring by itself but Sense is covering most of the things that you use your device for.

The main difference between 6.1 and 6.5 is graphical improvements. But it makes the ROM much much slower (higher RAM usage) and compatibility with SIP keyboards ++ is generally not good.

IMO the only reason to prefer 6.5 over 6.1 is that you can skin all icons in the taskbar and therefore have a white taskbar background. But I'd rather have this 6.1 ROM and a grey taskbar ;)

well.. actually it says:

Radio 1.13.25.24 (download below) or newer recommended for optimal performance
so it's only recommended. i ran a different radio for ages before swapping to 1.13.25.24, and to be honest i didn't really notice any difference, so i wouldn't worry about it.
you can flash the radio first or the ROM, it doesn't really matter.


about the winMo 6.1 and 6.5 discussion, yoztatg dabbled with 6.5 because it _is_ a nicer OS, a lot more finger friendly and it stops looking so much like winCE, but it just uses up too much RAM for our devices. the best combo for the hardware we have available is winMo 6.1 with the 2012 version of sense. i highly doubt we'll find a better combination.
most decent 6.5 ROMs for our diamond don't have Sense enabled (to save RAM). but there are some 6.5 ROMs with Sense, try them out and you'll see for yourself.

Then hold the clock (without moving it) until a menu appears and click next.

I recommend you to flash a different ROM and see if your volume buttons work on that one. If they don't, you are most likely to have a hardware problem. If they do, reflash this ROM again and I believe they will be fine :)

The strange thing is that they were working for a few weeks and then suddenly.... nothing. I will re-flash this ROM this weekend and will see what it brings. Thanks

you may need to delete your APN settings and recreate it.. this used to fix a similar problem

It's a well-known issue with the Rhodium dialer (I suppose you have the B-version which includes the Rhodium dialer). The porting to VGA is not 100 % good. Go for the Tachi dialer version instead if you can live without video call :)

Every time I use the stylus to reset(the small red button) it hard resets the phone. It all starts from stock settings and I have to re-allign the screen and so on;
this already happend 3 times today.
I get some random freezes that require me to use the sylus to restart.
I didn't use MTTY till now hoping i could make it work without.
Also, is there any chance I could remove the dual boot menu?

You pointed out the answer by yourself: ALLWAYS use MTTY before flashing a new ROM. The mentioned problem is well known. MTTY solved it for almost everyone.

And NO, there is no risk of damaging your phone - just follow the steps in the MTTY thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290. In post #4 is a step-by-step tutorial.

For the dualboot:
In the registry go to HKLM\init\ . Delete the string value which contains genyboot.exe

I've an error 226 when I flash an OS rom. There is only the D2X R2.5 can be flash without problems. But before flash the 2.5, I must flash 1.93 Orange rom FR, and after flash the 2.5
Even the 2.6 (WWE and FRENCH) stopped at 62% : Error 226.
I've tried with a lot of different HSPL and radio.
What are the differences between 2.5 and 2.6 ? I would like flash the 2.6 FR, but no solutions !

You pointed out the answer by yourself: ALLWAYS use MTTY before flashing a new ROM. The mentioned problem is well known. MTTY solved it for almost everyone.

And NO, there is no risk of damaging your phone - just follow the steps in the MTTY thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290. In post #4 is a step-by-step tutorial.

For the dualboot:
In the registry go to HKLM\init\ . Delete the string value which contains genyboot.exe
It worked like a charm. I ran the MTTY task today and it seems to be working flawlessly...I had also removed the dual boot menu.

i downloaded manila locker and installed it.. it works but the home tab got some layout problems.. the name of the city was placed in the middle o the clock and day and alarm buttons moved up.. it doesn't look good.. can you give us an working cab or method to get manila locker on 2.6?

This mod is absolutly perfect and imho a "must have". Build in is as well manila locker (and others). CHT works perfect and without performance/battery issues on my diamond. Really worth to try :)

Yoz, I need your help !
I've an error 226 when I flash an OS rom. There is only the D2X R2.5 can be flash without problems. But before flash the 2.5, I must flash 1.93 Orange rom FR, and after flash the 2.5
Even the 2.6 (WWE and FRENCH) stopped at 62% : Error 226.
I've tried with a lot of different HSPL and radio.
What are the differences between 2.5 and 2.6 ? I would like flash the 2.6 FR, but no solutions !

Just read two posts above yours (post #2146 or, always good, the first page) ;) - MTTY solves your problem. I installed 2.6 GER after formatting with MTTY - no problems at all.

Well, my guess is that there will be no more dialers that'll be ported to Diamond. Although it's a great phone, it's three years old and outdated. HTC (and alot of customers) are moving on to Android (me included :p) and I don't believe that HTC will release any new software for WM 6.1/6.5. Therefore I believe that the dialers already ported will be all that'll be available.

That's strange :confused: But I haven't installed XDAndroid yet, so no experience with installation process.

But don't throw your diamond out of the window :D I think its not dead. It could have something to do with the MTTY, maybe the task 28? Did you exactly follow the steps on the MTTY thread?

Or, do you have some autoinstall ROM/add-ons stored on the internal storage - and the error comes from this ...

If this does not help, I'm at the end with my poor knowledge :mad: But sure anybody here in the forum with deeper insight will help you :)

In the instruction posts (the first 4 ones) MysticGenius didn't write anything about task 28. I think this task is replaced by task 29 in the current verion.

Maybe try again with the current drivers (page 2) and MTTY version 1.42 (page 3)

installed this rom and everything works fine! just cant get a lock on with the gps, google and other gps software doesn't lock on etc. I have the o2 ignito version of the diamond, i had installed htc gps tool and im using 1.17.25.09 radio and the htc gps tool shows only the red dots but not fix on. tried different radios but no luck, 1.17.25.09 gets me closer but no fix lock on. searched high and low but nothing . so im wondering if there is a radio anyone can recommend or if their are o2 ignito users with some tips? any ideas would be grateful

It is just brilliant, looks good runs great but for a few minutes only, taskman doesn't see any open apps so memory usage starts gaining and wjen it reachs 80% you have to reboot becouse you will never open any app (it'll display there isn't enought memory) will you guys help please? or I'll brick this god damn stupidphone (instead smartphone) :D P.S. never buy WM operated phones, I just found out, symbian 9.3 is much more better than even WM6.5

Just two issues:
- shaking pointer: when I hold the stylus on some points, mainly over scroll bars or dragging items, the point keeps shaking up and down, making a boring effect.
- 12 quicklinks cabs don't work (I using co0kie's home tab, but it is a bit slower with it)

Anyone found any solution for those?

About the shaking pointer, I saw that a long time ago in my older Gloofish phone. It was a pointer driver, but I can't find anything related to that anymore.

About the problem with touch screen, the shaking pointer issue.

I tried to replace touch.dll in windows directory (I'm assuming that touch.dll is the touch driver, but I'm really not sure about that). I used an other touch.dll, from an older version of Gen.Y D2X rom (got it from my brother diamond, where the issue was not happening). No success, it still the same behavior, the shaking pointer (easy to see using scroll bars or dragging areas). It seems that isn't the driver :(

after the R2.6 release i handed the diamond over to a relative of mine, but i might be getting it back in the following weeks
i have my exams now so i even if i do get it back, i won't be able to do anything until the end of this month
i'm not going to promise anything, but if i do get it back, i might reboot the Gen.Y diamond development starting from scratch, and update D2X for one more (last?) time

*ps if i do get it back, i will definitly update the PX-D rom, since android on the diamond is getting ready for daily use

PLZ HELP ME! today my diamond became mad, it's restarting and resetting itself every time i turn it on!!!!! i've tryed mtty once, twice.....6 times to get it booting normally and flashed it on an official htc rom 1.93.xxxx but now my internal memory is only 84.1MB and my internal storage is 4Gb. is my internal memory size normal? has everyone only 84mb on his diamond?? mine is displaying this: main size 84.1 MB, used 24.9, free 59.2 MB; help me plz!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Thanks for this release !! Just amazing :eek:, this is the best battery life saver never had.

Since I flashed the phone last friday morning, 4 days up, 1 hour communication, 5 hours on wifi, 1 hour on tomtom and still more than 40% battery, for now best rom never used.

I now use the original HTC usb cable, and now it's oke ...

if you mean the new Omniwolf GTX that was released a few posts above this one, you can't run GTX on it yet, as the current buil of GTX doesn't work with CHT 1.8...

that works yes but when a itried to install yoztagTG rom, the phone was restarting again :( tried another custom rom from energy, the same thing, so i've proceeded like this:
1- mtty with task 28 55aa, then hard reset the phone with moviNAND format (pressing vol down button)
2- installing an offcial rom and hard reset again
everything was well running, then :
3- hard reset the phone again (too much hard resetting) without movinand format

shouldn´t surprise you its fantastic. great on everyday use. only the minor issues mentioned in the first thread. no need to softreset the diamond every other day anymore ... and in combination with the cht-thing it is the bomb!

after a long time looking for a good 6.5 ROM i tried this one and found out there's no need for WM 6.5, the manila gets inside settings so u'll rarely see the old 6.1 menus... start menu is good, although i liked honeycomb...

...just two questions:

¿can i place more quick links in the home tab, like a 4x4 grid instead of the 2x3 it comes with?

or i think another great idea would be the "action" soft button on the home tab, anyone knows how to add it? with it i could activate wi-fi or bluetooth with just 2 taps or go to "notes" or "voice recorder" which would leave me some space on the quick links.

just some ideas to make the ROM even better because the ROM is completely functional and lite... excellent cooking...

that works yes but when a itried to install yoztagTG rom, the phone was restarting again :( tried another custom rom from energy, the same thing, so i've proceeded like this:
1- mtty with task 28 55aa, then hard reset the phone with moviNAND format (pressing vol down button)
2- installing an offcial rom and hard reset again
everything was well running, then :
3- hard reset the phone again (too much hard resetting) without movinand format
4- installing GEN y D2x R2.6 without mtty, this, i think, overwrited the official rom. now everything is OK, don't know what have caused this but i was reaaly scared :eek:

Those restarting happen to me too. The solution I found was changing the radio back to 10.0.25.05 or 10.0.25.xx (xx = 05, 03, 16, etc). Any other radio makes the diamond auto-restart just after the "Touch Diamond" black screen. Tried hard resets, other roms, mtty, other hard spl, security unlock, remove security unlock, nothing helped :(

What is this task 28 55aa for? Do you know where I can find more information about mtty?

I don't why that happen, but if you found any solution, please, let me know.

Ps: Also After all the experiences with spl, radios, rom, mtty, etc, I got 3 problems. Now some of the phone functionalities are not working anymore: wifi, reset button and vibration. I don't know if was exactly because of all those changes, but the reset stopped working after the first hard spl (about one year ago), the wifi was gone after some recent attempts to change the radio (even putting the previous radio back didn't solve) and the vibration stopped after security unlock and changing some radios, hard spl, auto-reseting issues, etc.

... that is the best part, this is the only sense 2.5 rom for diamond that I tested that doesn't need to be restarted everyday (or even use those free ram tools) because of lack of ram.

Actually, I never faced lack of ram with this rom :), something that I thought was only possible with touchflo 3d roms or sense 2.1.

The cht tool is nice, but even the last version uses too much ram memory. IMHO, it's not good for everyday use on a diamond.

- After like 30 seconds it states that there is to less memory available and has to close a tab in order to free up memory, after that it closes opera itself, when starting back, it gives an error starting DirectDraw.
- In the original ROM when clicking an URL it just opened the URL, now the device vibrates, shows the menu buttons and opens the URL, what botters me the most is that it shows the menu buttons suddenly, can it be disabled, if so, how?

You could try opera mini for windows mobile. It's much lighter, faster and uses less memory than opera mobile. It tooks only about 1 second to start. You can download it from opera website using your diamond current opera.

I'm using Gen.Y D2X and i installed and then uninstalled CHT 1.8...(because i was having a problem with the lockscreen (manila locker), it doenst work with WM 6.1 as it seems)
so then after i uninstalled it my settings tab stopped working...
reflashing is an answer but the easy one, i was looking with my registry editor a few possible lines that could be causing the problem but im no expert so i cant be sure...
well, thanks a lot anyway, you mentioning the CHT made me realize that's what caused the problem, i just hope is not a ROM problem because this is the best one i've found...
...so... is time for a reflash...

i once found an answer for your first problem, you can configure opera so that it uses the internal storage(4GB) instead of the main memory to store temporal files which is what could be causing that error message...
it hasn't happened to me with this ROM so i dont have the thread about it, but look for it... if i find it ill let u know...

No crash, no problem, no pain synce 2 months!!

Only one suggestion:
Remove Manila and install Spb mobile shell.
10x faster than before and 35 Mb of free memory! ...now it is again a ppc + a real USABLE (like old style...where is my nokia 3310?) phone.

...unlock, click, call. Instant.
2 seconds from standby to dial tone.

as you might know, i have an HTC Hero since November '09, but i still had my Diamond so i kept on developing
after the R2.6 release i handed the diamond over to a relative of mine, but i might be getting it back in the following weeks
i have my exams now so i even if i do get it back, i won't be able to do anything until the end of this month
i'm not going to promise anything, but if i do get it back, i might reboot the Gen.Y diamond development starting from scratch, and update D2X for one more (last?) time

*ps if i do get it back, i will definitly update the PX-D rom, since android on the diamond is getting ready for daily use

Oh an on the Android topic, I tried several releases on my Diamond but aside form the initial excitement I say it is still far from being ready to replace Windows.
I'm sure it works beautifully on the Nexus and native Android phones but on the Diamond it is a lot slower than Windows when performing basic tasks.
Not to mention the dreadful batter duration and plenty other quirks.

Stil I do hope Yoz will be able to pull out the classic rabbit from the hat.

Great ROM, but theres one thing bugging me..
Why is the "phone" application rotating?
its not on the G-config list nor in the whitelist regedit but still it always rotates and its actually not compatible with this rotation because you cant do anything while on landscape mode...
anyone else has this problem?

i assume you edited the S001 files? or did you just hex edit the exe and dll directly?

hmm. i do remember having issues with the start menu when i first created this ROM.. i think i had to make some changes to get the large start menu working (which i prefer to the old school one), maybe something i did doesn't allow the old one to be re enabled..
as for the fingerkeyboard, which version do you require? is it a whole different version or do you just need me to integrate a new keyboard layout?
