Welcome to my personal ROM. This is my ROM for my personal device, I have included Apps and other stuff that I use in this ROM. It is also customized to my personal liking so it may not be in everyones flavour. Some things may not work simply because I don't use them (i.e Dialer has Video Call but I haven't tested it since I don't use it, the same goes for Wi-Fi)


Let me start by giving you an idea as to what my goals were with this ROM:

I would like to think that I have achived my goals in the current release of AthenaROM HTC Sense. Feel free to post your feedback and bug reports.


About this ROM:

I have been testing this ROM over the past couple of weeks fixing bugs as they popped up, the end result is a 100% bugfree HTC Sense ROM.
Because of the fact that our Diamonds were designed to run on WM 6.1, having WM 6.5 & HTC Sense on a Diamond will slow it down and on occasions you may run out of RAM and get a "Low Memory" warning.

GPS software will not work with HTC Sense enabled (I have found however that TomTom runs on my device with Sense enabled), there just isn't enough memory. The same goes for sending MMS messages, you will most probably get "Low Memory" warnings.

These issues are not bugs or problems relating to the ROM itself, but the fact that our Diamonds doesn't have enough RAM to run the software properly.


Installing this ROM:


My preferred method of installation is via Internal Storage, therefor I recommend doing it that way.

You will need HardSPL (I use 1.93) on your Diamond to install this ROM.

This ROM is ONLY for GSM Diamonds.

I recommend using MTTY if you experience any random Soft/Hard Resets or Phone Freezing. See this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290) thread for details how to flash using MTTY and to download MTTY

Please read the FAQ's in the 3rd Post before posting questions. You will find most of the previously asked Questions and Answers there.

Q: To use Background on all Tabs and disable the weather animation:

A: Go to Menu > Home Wallpaper > Animated Wallpaper and choose a Wallpaper from one of your Albums.


Q: I cannot scroll to the top in the Menu Enhancement

A: Go to: HKLM/Software /HTCHTCMenus/ Change "PortraitMaxItemCount" to 7 (it's the VGA value) + Soft reset. (This issue will be fixed with the next release)


Q: The ROM is slow and sluggish, what can I do?

A: You can install the Neos2007 Driver Pack (cooked into ROM from version 3 onwards), that should speed things up a bit. A: A GSM Diamond has a SIM Card as apposed to a CDMDA Diamond that doesn't use a SIM card.

A: As per the Changelog HTC Sense is not enabled by default. To enable it go to Settings / Today / Select the "Items" Tab / Tick "HTC Sense" / Press "OK" on the Top-Righthand corner of your screen.

I have build one just for testing, but will not be releasing a ROM since WM 6.5.x tend to have some issues with certain software, and not being 100% compatible with certain software.

I will not be releasing a new ROM soon since I have been working on this one from scratch for the past two weeks, and I have probably flashed my Diamond about 50 times in the past two weeks. Currently on vacation so I will be enjoying that.

I know its a WWE rom. But in most roms, you can change the lanquage and the input method. I tried to install ezinput 2.1, but nothing changes. it would be very nice, if you can help.

First, your rom looks very nice and its the most working 2.5 sense rom. I have to problems, I don't know, why:

Two times my device freezes and could not reboot. I had to make a hard reset. Then I have to set up me device first...

Next, I had tried the lock function, but I can't get out. Its also locked, when I place off the battery and reboot.

you should replace the background from Win 6.5, because its hard to see the little icons on it. The background looks nice, but to sum up, its too much. :)

Im looking forward to newer release and I would be grateful, if you make the option to choose the lanquage of the input method (thats all i want, the system lanquage will be alright in English) ;)

i would like to ask the same thing, I think german language in manilla and windows mobile is not so important but having the possibility to change the xt9 language is really a big deal to most of the non english user out there. i haven't flashed your rom yet cause i need my diamond on a daily basis but it definitely looks very promising. i will try this as soon as i there is a little more feedback from other users here and maybe a way to get german xt9 ;)

BTW.your ROM is very nice, but i can see that there is a big battery drain.Haven't noticed any other bugs so far (I still have V1 installed)

WiFi works fine for me. Do an MTTY task 29 and re-flash.

Possible Bugs
1) During MP3 playback on the touchflo screen, I cannot forward (move the slider). For example if I have a long track say an hour long, I cannot fast forward (or rewind) to a specific part in the track.
2) When I turn off the automatic backlight dimming, the manual setting does not work. I can set it to 10% or 100% but the actual backlight is at 100% regardless.

To everyone else:
If you have ANY problem with this ROM, and you have NOT done a MTTY then please DO NOT post your problem. I say this because MTTY and a re-flash will most likely FIX the problem, and therefore you would be stating something that is incorrect - saying that you have a problem when you really don't.
Lastly, I had to do a hard reset immediately after flashing. Sometimes you don't need to do this, but if you find strange things happening (i.e. the autocustomisation not completing) then I suggest you do a hard reset.

At the end of the day, we all have the same phone, same hardware so the same ROM should have the SAME experience for EVERYONE (if we all follow the correct process). :)

If you have ANY problem with this ROM, and you have NOT done a MTTY then please DO NOT post your problem. I say this because MTTY and a re-flash will most likely FIX the problem, and therefore you would be stating something that is incorrect - saying that you have a problem when you really don't.
Lastly, I had to do a hard reset immediately after flashing. Sometimes you don't need to do this, but if you find strange things happening (i.e. the autocustomisation not completing) then I suggest you do a hard reset.

At the end of the day, we all have the same phone, same hardware so the same ROM should have the SAME experience for EVERYONE (if we all follow the correct process). :)

I don't think it's the programs installed, these dont affect the ROM speed / feeling THAT much. May be change the page pool from 6mb to 8 or 10mb to gain performance / speed. I will try this once a few tiny things are fixed. :o

It is having conflict with the taskbar. I re flashed and reinstall the MS Voice and it is working good without the taskbar. I believe it has some conflict there thanks.

Sure it will be fixed with the next release, I totaly forgot to fix it since I was applying my attention on more urgent bugs.

Personally (and I'm not saying this because it's my ROM :D) I find this ROM quite usable. It has more RAM than say EnergyROM because I used a 6mb PagePool (115mb as apposed to 107mb). I used SKTools to Optimize the ROM for Performance as well as CleanRAM to run every 3 hours at Level 3. With these settings I always have at least 25mb RAM free on my Diamond, but I am always open to suggestions as to how we could make AthenaROM even better. ;)

I just installed the rom (looks great) but I have one big problem, I can't install anything. With every program I try to install it failes.

you can see the progressbar for a moment and then it only says "Installation of 'program' was unsuccesfull".

All the programs worked with the previous rom (also wm6.5). A hard reset didn't fix the problem.

Someone in the forum have made a Programs tab for HTC Sense 2.5 based in Manila 2.1 but it's not working 100% so I will not be cooking it in yet, also as mentiond by JoOoSs you can just slide up the clock and you will get 12 empty slots that you could use for Programs or Contacts.

You can install the Neos2007 drivers (will post them up later), it usually helps to speed up things a bit, I also have used SKTools to Optomize my settings for Performance in conjunction with CleanRAM and the ROM is fast and responsive and free RAM stays at 25mb.

This worked once but same issue occoured only this time the device would crash at the boot screen and refuse to go any further. I reflashed the rom 3 times in case that was the cause but every time the same effect.
I have since gone back to EnergyROM Photon build 28008 Titanium, and its absolutely flying! not tried the manila version yet but NRGZ28 still seems to have the best roms out there.

basically sending SMS is a hassle ...cuz it lists my messages on the bottom nearest to my text box..and the recepient's above my messages..so i constantly have to go up and read and come back down to reply....

Flashed with MTTY from internal storage .. the Rom is nice, speedy but I couldn`t use the start menu & the new task manager ( the task mgr worked once ) , so went back to my old Rom . But it looks very nice and promising!

its me again...i thought i make one thing clear...its true i can use the hardware keys...but..sometimes that doesn't work either...so i end up missing the call..and painfully go thru history and call back....

and also i haven't been able to answer a "second line" while i'm already on a call.... weird...

This ROM is actually using the dialer from the HTC Leo, you can use Advanced Config included in the ROM to enable the WM dialer. You can disable any of the Tabs from the Settings Tab.

Thats not a dumb question at all ;). I am currently in the process of changing the highlights to Blue, some have been changed and some are still Green. Since I am currently on vacation the main thing on my agenda is to get the bugs in this ROM sorted out, after that I will focus on changing the looks of the ROM. ;)

No, you just have to boot the diamond in "bootloader mode" -> soft reset, and press buttons (volume down+power) .
Connect the diamond to the pc, then flash your diamond through the pc.

Yep it's Sense and the Leo dialer. Do a test disable Sense and the Leo dialer and you'll see that free RAM will go up to about 65mb!

Thank you very much for the compliment. I wouldn't recommend trying the change your Diamonds clock speed, but off course it's your phone and your free to try it. ;)

Hi everyone,

I have a weird problem, probably a configuration one...

When I tried to dial a number by entering the numbers manually, the numbers just disappear when I press the CALL button and no call is made. No problem when I call from contacts.

I can see a white round icon like a crossed out circle besides the backspace button in the dialing pad (at the top)... I think that might have something to do with my problem!

Any ideas?

Hi guys, I was having all sorts of trouble setting up my Hotmail account. I kept getting WLMLauncher errors, so I went searching. Turns out Hotmail now uses POP3 as well. You need to use this to get it to work, here is the link which has the instructions:

i can not select this Option.

I try this Again, with the Windows XP-Mode for Windows 7 Pro.

I'm facing two issues:

1. E-mail from my exchange account isn't shown in HTC Sense.
2. When changing the time in for example a new appointment, there's a nice 'scroll-wheel' to change the numbers, but when changing the painting is awfull, sometimes I'm unable to read the resulting numbers.

Exactly, the original taskbar looks much better, also the icon set is a bit messy. Overall, a good rom with much less RAM consumption :)

Great Rom so far.
HTC Sense looks awesome but is almost "killing" my little phone. But if I switch to Titanium I get about 55 MB free RAM and thats quite a lot, at least more than I ever got before. Since its a WWE I miss the german umlauts, well I can live without them - but since its from the HD2 (Leo) I missing the "letter recognition" option too. The G-Sensor doesn't fully work it seems - or Titanium / Opera doesn't react if you try to switch to landscape mode.

Nevertheless a nice piece of work, quite stable even with HTC Sense as long as you don't start RAM hungry apps. I think HTC Sense is just to much for the little diamond - and its little akku.

xcellent rom.i ve been changing the roms for the past few weeks,changing this & that,not convinced with any rom.But,here i found this grt rom.thnx dude...
...Its an answer for people who ve been telling that sense is not suitable for diamond.this rom works like a gem.30-35MB of free rom for most of the time.

a small problem i found is tht signal bar is not coming.if psbl release a fix for this...
just love this rom like anythng...

i was using 1.40 hardspl dev and mtty... also found this case this morning but after two to 3 times soft-reset, it can get into again...

btw, i'll try 1.93 hardspl tonight and hope it would be better:)

Hey there, looks like a nice rom. Especially with the landscape options at photo's and music. But somehow my performance drops ALOT there when i use it.
Not running smooth as the rest, like 1fps or lower :\

matt, your device ain't bricked cuz you can get into bootloader; error 10 (on your PC i assume) is a common error that i usually get when installing the activesync drivers on my windows7 pc.
Just pretend you didn't see that error :) and proceed with the steps needed to perform mtty, so....close error screen and reboot your computer with the device still connected (if your computer won't get past bootscreen just disconnect your device for a minute till your puter has booted and connect again (device is still in bootloader i presume).
Now, run mtty.exe and check in the upper left box (with 'com1'in it) if there's a possibility for 'usb' if yes, select that and proceed with the instructions from the mtty thread. if no, stay calm and start over again, cuz something went wrong whille installing the drivers.
It might help to know that installing the (older) activesync drivers on your system is just needed to enable a rather old application like mtty to run, so you will be able to format your device's "hard disk"

Matt, when you go into device manager, what's the date of your drivers? Is it set back to 2003/2004? And maybe a really stupid idea...but remove the cradle and just connect with your original usb cable

on one hand that's good, cuz windows7 comes with 2007 drivers, so you did downgrade the drivers, on the other hand thing get more complicated now, you still have to find out what goes wrong trying to run mtty. Did you try to connect with standard usb cable instead of through cradle?

yeah i did it without my cradle just usb cable and same result except when i reboot my computer it is no longer saying that the device is malfunctioning but it just says installing device driver failed. Man im so fed up i wish i had known that mtty was the way to got right at the start

1- When writing a msg or note, the input method is XT9 keyboard only, I can't write by hand or the other stuff.

2- When activating key-lock...the slider on the screen hangs!! i.e: I can't slide it to unlock...

okay now, after 2weeks of testing this is what i noticed:
- When starting camera, i get a black screen? somethimes a little square and black around it.
- How can i rewind,... with the sense music player? (the round cirkle keys don't work like in WM 6.1)

Actually I have tried all functions ~~ it was perfect and it run fast and smooth only as said when using some application the rom don't have much space left however normally it is around 78-80% free
