Hey there,

Hows things? Any news on the next version? I'm still hoping to see the email list changes in the SMS. I'm still rooting for the recipe picture as well :)

Anyway I hope to see this project go on, and I'm just keeping keeping it warm,

Not sure that I understood you, the MyShoppingListCompanion is a Windows PC application, do you try to install it on Linux?

I've installed my shopping list on my htc with wm6.
the software works but I don't see any category except for "general" and I think I have to install MyShoppingListCompanion on the device to see others lists. is that correct?
I can't use ActiveSync, because I don't have a windows pc, so I can't install the .msi file on the wm phone

One way to get additional categories, is by clicking in the main screen on the Edit Categories button, than in the opened window, you can type names of new categories on the top part of it (where is written "enter new category text") and click the V button.

The MyShoppingListCompanion is not a mobile application, its a Windows PC application that enables you edit and change the mobile items directly from your PC - if you prefer to do that, the use of this program is totally optional.

ok, thanks. I thought the software had already a list of items as I saw in the images in the 1st post.

I cant seem to figure out how to do so.

You go into the Saved Lists section
Create as much as you need different lists, and items in them.
Now when you go shopping, you open the Saved List, select the items you need, and copy them to the Shopping List...

feature request

See if i can explain.

so your on the go shopping list.

right now you have it set to hide checked items.

my request would be not to hide checked items but to rather dull and italic them

then if you press and hold a dulled item, an option to uncheck would show.
then if unchecked, it would return back to the list as normal.

I ask for this as to make things a bit faster to re-add items to the list.

instead of unhidding, then unchecking the re hiding.

heres a screen shot i made to show what i mean.

I can do it.
The problem is that with this option, the number of the items in the list wont change, so if you get a long list, while you are shopping, you'll have to scroll all those checked items multiple times up and down, to get to the few items you still didn't check.

maybe an added part would be to move checked items to bottom

Forgive me if this has been answered somewhere else - I read through 95% of posts and searched for the answer...

Does the PC companion allow you to make "saved lists"? Seems like it only allows you to make a general list of ALL items. I've been trying to work my way around, but doesn't seem like a way to make it happen from PC.

Great program though and seems to have a LOT of great potential. Thank you for your hard work and I am planning on donating... :)

P.S. Is there a general FAQ or How To Do... Or General Instructions?

Using PC companion, I made a few lists - Shopping, Camping, etc. saved to handheld...

When I go to Saved Lists on my Touch Pro 2 I Only get Camping list - no Shopping. Cannot edit or see what's in my Camping list.
If i hit Edit Shopping List, I can see everything I put in my shopping list, but cannot get to anything I put in Camping list. Is there a way to get to the Camping list to edit on my Handheld?

Thanks!

When you go into Saved Lists from the main screen, you see a list of all saved lists, click on the Edit icon on the left side of a specific list to see and edit the items inside that list...
hope that helped...

Thank you! I did not know that was a clickable button. I would check the box (that seemed obvious to me) but then choose Edit from the Menu button which is standard operating procedure for most programs...

Thanks for clearing that up!

Could you please let me know what the check means next to an item? In other words if the box is checked, what exactly does that do for the item? Thanks...Still working on figuring out how your hierarchy / system works. Thanks!

...and as far as I can tell, only the topmost list Under Shopping list tab in the Companion can become a "shopping" list. Is this correct?

Also the topmost list is not visible under Saved lists no matter what I do. The two lists below it show up under saved lists. I created them all the same way - in Companion.

Thanks! Sorry for all the posts. I'll do my best to wait a bit and consolidate my questions...

The new skin for the shopping list is ready.
GTX skinned but not published.
I have/will to check it with the OP and my thread partner chris10230 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=678178).

What we have to check:
- 100% GTX style
- grafic shadows ok
- colors ok
- used icons ok

This is the todo. A screenshot will be published in the next hour, because a complete reboot of all sytems (3 server, 3 workstations, 2 laptops, 2 mobile phones, and all the grafics sh....t ). The screenshot is only a little bit food for all of you :).

And a new nice chrome icon. But it is also possible todo that in the GTX color.

About the companion you are correct.

About the mobile application, you have a direct access to edit the Shopping List from the main screen (the topmost button in the main screen) so having it again in the Saved Lists is not needed.

First i want to say thank you, its a great app!
An i would really like to see a barcode reader functionality.
That way i could just scan everything, i put into my shopping basket and not have to search it from a list.

If you have a registry editor, can you post the value in the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MoDaCo\AppToDate\XML:My Shopping List
Also, is that value correspond to where the ShoppingListInfo.xml file is on your device?

BUGGIE_X

I just checked it and it does correspond where the ShoppingListInfo.xml is located.:confused::confused:

The program data is in ShoppingList.xml and not ShoppingListInfo.xml.

The ShoppingList.xml file is created the first time you run the ShoppingList application on the phone, run it once on the phone, save the file (if you wish, verify afterwards that indeed ShoppingList.xml was created).

Note that if you can install the application on the memory card this is a preferable method, as the data (ShoppingList.xml file) will not be erased when you do Hard Reset.

...modify the language file (under the lang folder) that you use, you should see a line like this: GENERAL=General and you can edit the value part (the right part) of that line. The problem with this way is that your change of this file will be overwritten when you'll install a new version of the program.

Does anyone have any idea as to how i can get the program to open with an unexpanded category list? I tried editing the language.ini in an effort to remove the general category, didn't work. the problem is that when starting the program in 'edit shopping list' mode it defaults to the general category and all my categories are expanded. this forces me to scroll down, in what has become a long list, to get to where i want to edit. would be much nicer if my categories were collapsed making it easier to find/select the category i want to edit. maybe i'm missing something? this is the only complaint i have, i really like everything else about this program!

thanks
tom

This feature is already there.
First go into settings and make sure that "When selecting a category collapse all others"
Now go into the Edit Shopping List, If you, for example want to "jump to" the XYZ category, click on the category button, and select XYZ, all other categories will collapse, and the list will scroll to the first item in the XYZ category.

thanks amirdt,
i figured that out. i was hoping to eliminate having to click on the category button ('general'). i don't see the point. why not display the collapsed categories first? then you can choose your category from the first screen without having to navigate to another screen to choose your category. what advantage is there to navigating to another screen (general button) then making a choice from a list (*** category) only to arrive back to the same screen you started at? seems to me to be extra steps that are not necessary. just a suggestion. i was looking for a work around.

another alternative would be to display the collapsed 'categories list' first, instead of the other way around.

thanks again,
tom

Hello!

Thank you for this good shopping list, which is managed very well indeed!

Nevertheless, I have one small suggestion!

Perhaps you could create a core list of things and I mark it merely to buy the necessary things. If one now on "Shopping" button, you actually see only the selected items from the main list. This means I can see only the active things and then put them on the shopping done!

Now I always see all the things on the shopping list.

Sorry, maybe there is already a setting for this option. But I still have not found them!

Many greetings from germany!

Hello,

Nice to meet you all, I am new to this forum.

I have a question I would like to ask about this app which I really want to use as it very suit my needs. I currently own a Samsung Omnia 2 (I8000), and my question is can this app be install under this phone??

I was looking at the screen shots, and I notice there are differences compare with my screen. (I currently use Winmo 6.5 pro)

I hope I can use this, but if it doesn't fit my phone is there an alternative app which someone can introduce me?? Thank you very much for the help.

this is an app that could go big! i love it!

thanks for sharing

some questions:
for functionallity i would love to have the following, a possibility for a saved list with all things i could buy in 1 particular store: so a saved list supermarket a with bread and cheese, a second saved list with supermarket b with water and milk and beef. (maybe a 3rd list for a DIY store and so on)

now if in real life i go to supermarket b can select the items i want to buy that time (for instance beef and milk) from the saved list of that store and only after selecting the items to the shopping list i want to add the quantity (2 beef and 6 milk).

your version now lets save my list only with rigid quantities, but it's not always i want to buy that quantity every time i load my shopping list for a store! and a cannot change my quantity when loading (a part of) a saved list. hope you don't mind my suggestion and maybe you get some inspiration form this. :o

and maybe alkso a separate collumn for units. sometimes i want to buy 2 bottles and sometimes i want to buy 1 crate. or another example: salami sausage sometimes 1 kg somtimes 300 gram. You get it?

gram, kg, liter, bottle, unit, bag, piece, stuff like that
