I have never seen "android system" to be top battery consumer untill S5 and I have had every Galaxy S there is. It's also not issue specifically with my phone since I have second from ATT with the same issue. Phone is in pristine condition with just basic Gmail, G+ installed. Not rooted on latest firmware.
Is it S5 thing?

i dont know if its an s5 thing, but mine does the same, both before and after rooting/rom

however, my battery life still seems to be good, so i guess im not going to worry.

yesterd i unplugged from the charger about 6am. 4 hours of screen time, watched a bit of video, browsing the internet etc, and i listened to about 5 hours of audio throughout the day, and by 9pm i was at 29%

actually i don't know if that is great or not, but its better than my last phone lol

Yes, that's what I'm experiencing as well - that is relatively good battery life which I assume might be even better if android system did not eat as much.
