Lately Hangouts and SwiftKey have been draining my battery. Can anyone help?

It's more likely that wakelocks are draining your battery.

Look for the thread titled "[GUIDE] The Total Newb's Guide to Wakelocks" in the AT&T S2 Skyrocket forum.

I can tell you that SwiftKey since they updated to the new free version it opens and runs Facebook in the background even if you don't have it set up to learn from Facebook. I thought this was very sketch of them and because of it I stopped using SwiftKey. I am also noticing Hangouts is running a lot more in the background that it used to. I use greenify to hibernate it but I have telephony notifications set up to push through so it'll bring it out of hibernation when I get a text. Hope this helps. If you're looking for a replacement for SwiftKey Fleksy is pretty good... It's not SwiftKey but it does a good job and has some cool features.

root your phone, install "wakelock detector", grant SU access, a take a look for a while. And check that process causes excessive battery consumption.
