I'm glad to present apple emoji for kitkat

Please smash a thanks for him!
Let's begin!

★ Requirements ★
If you want to use this mod, remember that you have to be on ROOTED PHONE, preferably with RECOVERY installed (to make the things simple)

★ Installation ★

Manual method

Quote:

  • Grab AppleColorEmoji.ttf and place it into /system/fonts/
  • Set /system/fonts/AppleColorEmoji.ttf to have permissions 644 (rw-r--r--) and owner:group root:root.
  • Modify /system/etc/fallback_fonts.xml like so:
    • Find
      Code:
          <family>
              <fileset>
                  <file>AndroidEmoji.ttf</file>
              </fileset>
          </family>
    • Above this block, add
      Code:
          <family>
              <fileset>
                  <file>AppleColorEmoji.ttf</file>
              </fileset>
          </family>
  • Set /system/etc/fallback_fonts.xml to have permissions 644 (rw-r--r--) and owner:group root:root.

This mod will replace the existing emoji only ... I checked now with xperia keyboard and some are still missing...
I had not ever noticed 😂
I'll try to see if we can do something about it...

Emoji lost is related to the fact that you are using a version of Android prior to kitkat and then, speaking in layman's terms, your system does not recognize the code in which the emoji were written.

You can't open the file because you must use Python...the manual process can be done on Linux, since all the tools are written in Python.
