I just received a 40MB update on my Venue 8 tonight. I'm not sure what is new. It's still 4.4.2.

Good comparison. There's a minor change in the software version. You're right. It's most likely just a bug and/or security fix.

Finally got the update from 4.2 to 4.4.2
Was unable to get OTA since they stopped it. They must have fixed the bricking and bugs and resume ota.

Has the update fixed any bugs? I still have black boxes in webview. Usually followed by the screen going wacky forcing me to long press power to restart.

Don't know. I didn't have any issues to begin with.

Really?! The AOSP and in-app browsers don't fill up with black boxes and then crash for you?

Makes me wonder whether I just need to backup to jelly bean and try updating again.

I've had the tablet since November, and never had a single issue.
