Unless it is a Unified MSM8960 ROM, no. In fact, using RSD with a ROM not specifically designed for your xt907 is a great way to perma-brick... definitely do not.

Yes, you can.
But afaik the Modem doesn't work with the XT907 and you can only use Modems of the same Android version. So after you flash ICS(?) and update to JB (update is here too), you'll need to flash the XT907 JB Modem again.
