Does any one know if this would work for a Wi-Fi hotspot? http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%...nkSmpdVI8Km9HQ I'm thinking about getting one of these and a Chromecast so that I can watch all of my streaming media when I go camping in areas without Wi-Fi.

No.

But get a Miricast or WiDi device and you can cast your screen directly to the TV. This way you don't need a router. I've seen them as cheap as $20-$30.

EDIT: Here's one for $25 http://www.amazon.com/Tronsmart-T100...&keywords=widi

I use the Netgear Push2TV, but its more expensive...
