On/Off button defect. Can i use/map another button?

Hi,

my On/Off Button on the top is defect.

After my Orbit2 flew(right form for fly?:D) out of my jacket the button was very soft. I had to push harder to get it on/off, i think some holding has broken and now the button went in..

Can i map this button to another one? Maby the Record button?

Settings->Personal->Buttons has no option for this.. (wm 6.5 pcarvalho).

I think its the better option for now, before i buy the right screwdriver and open my orbit2...

mein Ein-Aus Knopf oben ist kaputt. W�rde gern eine andere Taste mit der Funktion belegen, finde aber keine Funktion in den Einstellungen..

W�re mir lieber das erstmal so zu machen, bevor ich das Ger�t auseinander nehme.

Probably everybody already knows that Microsoft was working on totally new Windows mobile version what will have multi touch gestures and fully revamped UI something like Vista style.

The latest news is that it will be shown off at Mobile World Congress next month with expected release date late this year. I hope to see some leeks very soon in these forums :D

[Android] NAND Boot Method for Polaris: FLASH IT!

Flashing a device is a risky process, and you definitively have to know that your device might not boot correctly, or not boot at all. You must also notice that this method is being tested and some components of your Polaris will not working at the moment. Take into consideration that there are developers that are sharing all their work with us, but although they're really good at their job, they all have their lives. So, if something just doesn't work, please, be patient*

NAND Boot for Polaris! Now it's possible thanks to DZO!
- You may see this guide really long, but it's because I tried to detail every step and I put lots of URLs to make the process easier for beginners :) It's not than difficult as it seems!

Step by step guide:

You will need a .NBH file to flash. We have several versions because they are constantly being developed. You can find those files in the following websites:
- http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/files/?C=M;O=D (maintained by DZO). It's a file listing: don't be afraid of it. In this site you will find it as polaimg-panelX-[date].nbh, where X is the paneltype your device has. POLA100 usually has 1. You can check it taking a look at your old default.txt (paneltype=X).
- http://sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/. You will find it listed as polarisnbh.zip, a compressed file that contains itself a lot of .NBH files for different screen resolutions and paneltypes.
Have your desired .NBH file (according to your paneltype and resolution) ready for flashing. We will now prepare the SD Card to not only flash the device, but also to install Android.
Now copy your favorite Android build under a folder named andboot at the top level of your SD Card. The file path should be /andboot/androidinstall.tar.
- It has to be compatible with the new NoMoRootfs method.
- You can check the Vogue forum for them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=390. The build usually has an androidinstall.tar into it. One of the best is Myn’s Warm Donut (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619980), that works OK.
- Copy it to your /andboot folder. The installer will look for it later.
Flash the .nbh file you downloaded before with your prefered tool (I used CustomRUU.exe for Windows).
- To flash your device you might have to put your Polaris in bootloader mode. To enter this mode you have to do the following:
- Press and hold the camera button first.
- Press reset while you hold the camera button. Release it.
- Hold the camera button until de colored bars screen appears.
- If it doesn't work, remove the battery, wait for some seconds, put it back and try again.
- When the colored screen (Hard SPL) is shown, you are ready to flash it using the flashing application (CustomRUU.exe, for example).
Wait for the device to restart after flashing.
Keep the CAMERA button pressed.
A menu should appear.
Choose your installation options (I selected System on NAND, Data on SD Card).
Install it!
Wait for the installer to finish
The menu should appear again.
Exit and the new system should boot like a charm.

Things that WORK:

Phone calls: incoming/outcoming.
Texting (SMS).
Data connection (GPRS/3G) although the notification bar shows an incorrect icon when in 3G.

Things that DON'T WORK:

Wi-Fi.
GPS: it seems to be activated, but the location is fake.
Bluetooth.

iolite ROM on cruise

Hello.
Can it be possible to install ROM from iolite to our Cruise?
I feel myself a little bit dissapointed from all this unfinnished 6.5 ROMs for Polaris.. There is no stabil and bugs free 6.5 ROM for today.
I'm trying to search for stabil 6.1 ROM for my Polaris.
But iolite has it's nice dialer and phone canvas future - no problematic and bug free.
I tryed a lot of ROMs from here and all of them are problematic:
kastas244 Version C - very slow on my device.
Megan v1.2 - Bluetooth problems.
etc... etc...etc..
till now I used 3LITE3_VIII it is a firs sabile and almost bug free 6.1 ROM. but it has some problem with volume control.

Can some one sujest me the stabil and bug free ROM?

i've flashed it many times and never have problem before.
my device has been unlocked.
last night,i flashed a china mobile's official rom and then i forgot to
unlock,just flashed the other roms but then finished 100%,cannot
hard reset just virbrated couldnot stop,needs to unload the battery.
i have checked the spl is the same like unlock ones but i have tried many
roms including official english rom,the problem still exit.kindly help me to
solve it

and at the beginning please help I have this problem after uploading the new ROM and compatible with the radio began to appear quite often strange cracks in the handset during a call and I will say honestly that I do not know what to do next can sometimes agree and sometimes it just cracks and squeaks can be heard
I thought to myself can I upload a different rom and radio to the appropriate romu but still it samo.Prosze for help in my case

Common Problems in Wm 6.5 Roms

Hi boys,
Reading many threads regardings new cooked roms Wm 6.5 for Cruise, I noted that there are some "common problems" in all cooked roms.

For Examples: Bluetooth Audio problems, Ezinput 2.0 Problems, Camera Key Problems ... and so on.

So... my goal for this thread is: Why not write here our problems, to identify common Wm 6.5 problems and find the solution for any rom ?
We could write the name of rom and the bug we find and (if resolved) the solution.

I start:
- Rom: MEGAN ROMS 1.2
- Bug:
* Set Backlight in Realtime resolved with MYLIGHT of Myblog;
* Long Press Power don't power off display but shut down the cruise resolved with xdashoutdown mapped on other hardkey;
* Ezinput: No Custom Words Save and Autoprediction Word after space don't work. Tried with TouchPal, a very interessing new keyboard, but not resolved
* BT Audio disappears: NO Solution at the moment. When no Audio in headset, I move Volume Keys up and down. So Radio Reset and BT Headset Works.
* Saving new contact from SMS: when you choose between "New contact" or "Existing Contact" nothing happens and you can only exit from this option.

If you have solution to my bugs or you want show your bug, please write in this thread.

Note:

1st boot takes long time to complete
incoming /outgoing calls sounds but cannot speak or hear, plus camera all black - change the RADIO to supported one
