Default Horrible Audio quality with BT headset..

Hey!

My Nexus's Earphone hole is going broken and I don't want so sent my Nexus to the phone service and to pay 80 of repairing it..

So I bought Nokia BH-111 Stereo Bluetooth headset! Earphones are good but when I plug them to its BT device and listening music from it via Nexus the sound quality is "HORRIBLE", I hear clicking/crackling noise.

I installed DSP manager and its files which is needed and then I tested it but still horrible sound quality..

I'm using my modified OTA ROM (JB 4.2.1), without any "Audio Mods".

I have no idea how to fix the quality or to increase the quality, so if anybody can help then Thanks!

I had the same issue when streaming bluetooth to my subaru's car stereo.
The fix for me was to decrease the "bluetooth" volume on the phone itself when connected to a bluetooth device. It's as if the device's onboard audio board distorts at full blast/volume. I step it down 2-3 notches and it sounds a lot better. Then, just increase the volume on the stereo or headset to compensate.

Doesn't make quality better on my Nexus when decreasing volume...:/

I also have old Nokia Bluetooth headphones which are broken and the sound is same with them.

Would be nice if there is any fix for A2DP quality on Nexus or any audio mods which makes sound quality better.

The older (pre-4.2) bluetooth stack had issues with more than one device connected (aka stereo and headset). Not sure if the new one in 4.2 is any better in that regard.

I'd love to know what you did to fix this. I've been red in the face over this bluetooth noise during hands-free since the ICS update.

I just posted this:

Well, It is fixed in 4.2.2 release! So I recommend you to use JB 4.2.2

I replaced files in /system/etc/bluetooth/ and audio_policy file in /system/etc/ audio_ploicy.conf looked to be same but just in case I replaced it..

The Sound quality via BT headset isn't still perfect but it's better now.

Not fixed for me.

What exactly has changed? Is it the radio, kernel, bluetooth stack, what?

Where did you get the files you used from? One of the first things I did after flashing the 4.2.2 ROM, kernel, and binaries, was to flash the latest radio (for Verizon it's 4.1.1) and the noise was there, in all its glory. I put the 4.0.4 radio back on, which is better... but it has its own problems. 4.1.1 is a much better radio, but has the BT racket in calls.

The Bluetooth audio streaming is fixed, about other things I don't know because I use BT Headset at school for listening music and calling and everything works well..

On JB 4.2.1 I used files from CyanogenMod's latest nightly, CyanogenMod devs has fixed A2DP on CM ROMs..

Gonna have to dig into that. You said you updated two sets of files? Could you list which ones?
