Ok flashed the DPH3 update using kies. CF-Autroroot still works on it and I was able to get root on the device. One word of caution though the CF autoroot installs a custom recovery and once it finishes rooting the tablet installs back the stock recovery. The stock recovery that CF-autoroot installs is the DOK1 version instead of the newer DPH3 version. The tablet boots up fine though albeit it takes a few minutes and some reboots. Following this I also installed TWRP 3.0.2 and everything is happy so far

Got the latest update. Security patch has been updated to September 2016. Doesn't look like anything else is different.

    Im running Android Version 4.4.2
Build Number: xKat v5.0 by hanspampel
    Kernel: 3.4.39-1462259
    OK, here we go:
    Prep:
    1) Download the tool to your PC from here http://xdaforums.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Then use the tool to download 5.1.1 rom (very fast download). set model=sm-p600, region=XAR, put a check in "Auto" and "Decrypte automatically"
    2) Download TWRP 2.8.7.0 tar file to your PC here https://dl.twrp.me/lt03wifiue/ (you must use Spen to navigate, touch won't work)
3)Download patched boot zip to your PC here http://xdaforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3554181&d=1448393686 . Unzip the file then copy the .img file to your sdcard
    4) Download SuperSu zip to your sdcard device https://download.chainfire.eu/743/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip
    5) Download TWRP modified 2.8.7.0 to your sdcard http://xdaforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3558038&d=1448719843 (touch work)
    Attack:
    1) Boot device to download mode, use Odin and flash rom 5.1.1, let it boot up make sure it's working, then boot back to download mode
    2) Use Odin flash twrp (none touch), then boot your device to TWRP, use this to flash the modified TWRP(touch). You need to use the spen to navigate. Once the modifed twrp flashed, boot to it and now you should able to navigate using touch.
3)use modified twrp to flash patched boot img file. In order to do this, you need to toggle the zip/image button on the bottom right handside. Once toggled, twrp should see your img patched boot file. After done toggle zip/image to flash SuperSU.
Bootup and really to play!!! Good luck.
If stuck, just ask :)) and Scott will beam you up!!!

    [/COLOR]Anyone tried this ROOT??

    http://xdaforums.com/galaxy-note-10-2014/development/root-cf-auto-root-t2905495

If I'm reading it correctly, the post suggests it works with version 5.x.x....

    Cheers,

    H

To the best of my knowledge cf-auto-root stopped working with 5.0.1. For 5.1.1, the standard method on this forum was to flash a permissive kernel. There are many such kernels floating around. But, this is not ideal, since you are disabling ALL security just to get root! I just put up a thread to get root without resorting to a permissive kernel here. The method I follow is Chainfire's recommended one, and at the moment, there is no auto-root for this. Chainfire even goes to the extent of advising people not to automate the process becuase there are a bunch of variables that can cause bootloops. My thread has a guide on how you can get root on your own device. It may seem intimidating, but is not that difficult, and in fact can be done completely in Windows itself! IF you follow the guide and are successful, please post in the thread, so others know whats working and whats not.

Already running it, so I will tell my impressions here:

First off, especially if you come from a custom rom, remember to clear user data before or after flashing with odin, else it will restart like crazy after 5 seconds booted or so. Once figured out.... Wow! Massive improvement over kitkat.

Everything seems super smooth and polished.

New features: Keyboard is improved in looks and spen recognition, there are new multi window features integrated into the recent card view that work fantastic, new snote has a nice photo capture option, and we now have the same flat ui and widgets as the galaxy tab s.

    Performance: Great!
Not a single stutter or lag with a bootload of apps installed. Also, even thouh it's still soon to tell, it seems not to suffer from lollipop's infamous memory leakage. Also, I tested for stagefright and is not vulnerable. It really breathes new life into the tablet.

Bad points are scored by usual bloatware, but still it can be disabled and end of story.

Battery life... still no idea, but we'll see wether it has many wakelocks or not. If it fares well, it will be close to perfect AT LAST!
