[Q] help. no gmail widget

i searched for the answer to this and couldnt find it, hopefully someone can help me out here.
on my home screen, there is no GMAIL widget. i actually cant find gmail any where on my tablet.
i have to goto the actual gmail.com so im missing out on emails unless i constantly check it.
anyone else having this issue?

In the app drawer, tap the Google icon(not google+), it has among others, the Gmail app's shortcut.
