Unfortunately, this app does not work in case of Samsung stock ROMs: FNF4 or newer

Fortunately I have found a way A way is based on my very old idea, published 14 January 2013 (but only HERE, because I'm XDA member since March 2013).


Ready? Let's start!

1. Download and install Towelroot app (https://towelroot.com/), but do not use it yet.

2. Download XXUEND3 100% stock kernel (PC Odin flashable file):

>> KERNEL_N9005XXUEND3.tar.md5 <<

3. Go to Download Mode, load file as AP using PC Odin, connect the phone, click Start, wait for start up your phone.

NOTE: After this step you can see that wifi not working but don't worry - everything will be fine after restoring your original kernel (p.5). To continue (p.4), you will temporarily need a data connection.

4. Run Towelroot app and tap "let it ra1n" (after that you can remove Towelroot app)

5. Download your original kernel, matched to the ROM version you are using. Flash it in the same way as in p.3:

>> Recent kernel versions for SM-N9005 <<

(N9005DX, N9005VJ, N9005ZH, N9005ZT users - go to the "Kernel_DX_VJ_ZH_ZT" folder)

6. This step is not mandatory, but I recommend to install SuperSU app from Play Store (thanks to @Chainfire).

7. Enjoy your rooted ROM and KNOX 0x0. All data, applications and settings will remain untouched

Above scenario has been successfully performed on stock firmwares: XXUFNF4, XXUFNG2, XXUGNG1, XXUGNH1, XXUGNI4, DXUFNG2, DXUGNH1, VJUFNG3, ZHUENH4

I did it everything u said and it works for me.
I had official 4.3 and update on official 4.4.2 and then must root just because SDCARD wasn't sdcard anymore. Because Google in version 4.4.2 put sdcard just for pictures, video and my apps previously installed on sdcard didn't work.
After rooting I find here on XDA (thank you for search), how to make sdcard visible again like on older android platforms.
But, after all, I got 1 app don't working on rooted phones and need that app. That I put on work that app (D3GO) with RootCloak plus and now I have rooted 4.4.2 with KNOX 0x0 and all apps from sdcard working like a charm.
Only what I saw lately, just FB app don't want to open anymore. I didn't make a research why, because I don't use it a long time and now I just uninstalled it from my phone.

1. whether, 'Current Binary' and 'System Status' under Odin mode remains 'Official' or does it change to 'Custom' after rooting using this method.

2. whether Knox will be tripped upon receiving OTA updates or flashing the phone with stock firmware after rooting.

this should work as KERNEL_N9005XXUGNJ2.tar.md5 is there in the kernel list provided by _alexndr. Simply follow steps in post #1 and after making it rain , flash using your original kernel (i.e, KERNEL_N9005XXUGNJ2.tar.md5). Kaboom, u have a rooted N9005...

Hi, it's pretty clear your tutorial but I have a couple of questions? First what happens in case of future rom update? I still keep on using Odin each time a new software will be released? And if I follow this tutorial with which knox will be set on 0 in case I put on my phone some unofficial rom this will increase the knox counter or it will be stuck at 0? Thx

wifi wont work. try using ur cellular data connection for making it rain then dwnld ur original kernel from androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712465821 and flash..

Last few days, I have trouble to connect to wifi, anywhere, must reconnect and retype passwords on WiFi where I was before. Someone had same problems?

Please add it to your list, as I doesn't look like any of the other ROMS have matching Kernals and I'm not sure how risky it is to install a different one from scratch.

I bought my Note 3 in October of last year from Vodacom (A part of Vodafone) in South Africa.

I turns out that I won't need my firmware added to the list, as it works with towelroot out of the box!
I didn't know it would until I searched for XXUENC2 instead of N9005XXUENC2 in this thread. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes, you can change csc with knox 0x0. I have done it many times when trying out differenet knox 0x0 custom roms.
