You know, sim card holders are pretty cheap on eBay... I checked after I almost destroyed mine when my cut down sim got stuck in the slot. Luckily I got it out without damage...

i know that google now works with kit kat roms, not sure about jelly bean.

Yeah, go on and root it. There isn't much else to do with it otherwise. Alpine and PA roms have been pretty good.
