I don't really use CM10.1/10.2, so better try it yourself. Why not use KitKat ROMs? It's pretty stable for me, specifically the SlimSaber...

Is there really much difference?

I liked BAMrom and ParanoidAndroid. I also tried a lot of others and usually I personally found them to be crappy or laggy or microscopic. But the battery life usually seems similar-ish.
So now that the only two I like no longer support SGS2, I'm wondering if there's something at least as good out there. Some say SlimSaber is battery friendly. But: Really? Or is it another placebo, as one would think, looking at the wide variety of opinions?

(Tried NeatRom, didn't like.)

ive only tried 2 kitkat roms, first being the last buld of cyanfox, cant fault it, then tried lollipop but atm buggy but getting there, so come back to paranoid android 4.4.4 the last stable release, i dont think its as polished as cyanfox and get unfortunately app has closed sometimes..might try slimsaber but im not sure which release is the most stable

Neat ROM extra lite with Apollo seems to be the best.

The AOSP Neat ROM drain battery much more then the stock one...
