Does anyone test the rom condition in standard condition like me do? I mean no change for the kernel, no update SU, no tweaks, etc..?
Try it guys its fun, coz its the only way to know whats the problem and not to argue with it

For sample : if we flash on the neatrom or any rom ls8 , just put it that way for a while. No update and tweaks for a while just wants to know whats tha problem in da rom. Hehehe...

But flash for a full wipe for internal and external sdcard just to make sure we haveca clean rom on a clean device.

NeatRom Full XxLS8

This whole title and explanation people give are the wrong impression imo. It's a boot hang.... The boot loader splash screen hangs. Which means likely nothing mounts and the boot process of the Rom never starts. The same thing would happen if you full wiped and formatted and tried to boot the phone.

A boot loop is when the boot animation plays over and over again..... endlessly.

As the red blur said. ... philz lsj kernel is good and jeboos kernel since it is based off hk source and using the lsj intramfs. Not sure about dorimanx, speed mod and siyah.

Between Philz and Jeboo, which is better in terms of batt life and performance? (Not sure if this question qualifies as a "best kernel / ROM" question, if yes, apologies) I'm also a bit confused here as some are saying that it's not a kernel problem and you will encounter the boot hand / bootloop bug regardless of what kernel you're using. Especially since no one knows why it happens in the first place.

Also, I've been scouring the forums of a good long time (not posting a lot though, only recently) and I still don't exactly know what a kernel does. At least I've not encountered anything my non-techie brain can wrap itself around. LOL.

I said his XXLSJ kernel and if it's a boot loop then you are having a different issue.

Hasn't been explained enough :what:

PhilZ lsj range and jeboo 1.3 onwards also LSJ based is boot loop or boot hang if you will free.

Thats it.

Dorimanx range falls into this category as well as I have never experienced a boot hang with that. At the moment it doesn't support LSD yet.

I'm reading the threads for Jeboo, Phillz, SpeedMod and Dorimanx, I can't seem to decide if I should switch kernels or not. I believe the Philz, Dorimanx and Jeboo kernels don't have as good a backup system as SpeedMod? Having experienced the boot lag bug, having a good and complete backup is now very important to me.

As much as possible I want to keep the SGS2's stock JB ROM, I think its simpler to just have a custom kernel instead of having to replace the whole ROM. I'm really just afraid of being bitten by the boot lag bug again.

Where did you get that philz and jeboo dont have a good backup? :what:

Philz recovery is the best recovery to make a full backup of stock Samsung roms as you can back up the preload. If you dont know what preload is then have a look in my signature in cave to see hawkerpauls great explanation and scripts.

Also jeboo 1.3 onwards uses philz recovery (an older version) but you can also backup preload.

With kernels like Dorimanx and Siyah you can make a decent backup but without the preload. So you would need to use hawkerpauls preload backup script to get over that extra hurdle.

Or simply stick to philz or jeboo if to much of a hassle.

And for the last time if using philz use his LSJ based kernel for no boot hangs.

What is the definition of a "good" backup system? PhilZ, for example, has an option on CWM settings to automatically include /Preload in the nandroid backup, unlike most of the other CWM variants. No extra steps required. Seems complete and good enough to me...

Edit: Sorry, The Red Blur beat me to it..

To whom it may concern: STOP nagging about pressing the freakin' Thanks button!!! It is rude, stupid, and annoys the hell out of people. I am not an idiot who needs a huge in-my-face reminder to press it, and I will press it when I feel thankful, not because you asked for it!
