The AOS usage is misleading for sure.

My battery life has been very good, excellent with the Jan 2 build, significantly less kernel wake locks, which may have been misleading as well.

30% on GB and the world is ending, ICS not so much.

ive actually found battery life to be better than GB with normal useage, and worse than GB when heavy using the phone (like playing games)

I can agree with that, I'd say the Jan 2 build is getting very close to what I had on CM7. Not sure what changes were made to the ROM, or something I may have changed on my phone, but the kernel wakelocks are back to normal.
