Saw this post a while back, thought it would be useful to address some points raised, and throw in my two pennies worth:
And to resume what I saw in the last part of this thread these are issues and additions most talked about (hope I didn't miss one):

Issues
- Wi-Fi direct
- FM radio
- TV Out not working properly
- Slow UMS/MTP transfers
- Recent apps show up when you click the home button while screen is off (it shouldn't) - Doesn't happen to me, cannot reproduce bug.
- Blueish color when using camera effects
- Notification bar 2G/3G network toggle not working - Doesn't happen to me, cannot reproduce bug.
- Long wake up delay (Entropy512 wanted to reduce it)
- Music volume goes down when SMS is received and never returns to the previous level - If you use poweramp as your music player, there is a setting which solves the issue.
- Crash when playing a search result through Music app (unneeded if Apollo is bundled)
- SMSC setup in some rare cases fail - Known issue, fix for south African users has been posted, looks like the SMSC number is wrong in some cases.

Features
- Integrate Apollo music app
- Slide to right to call and to left to SMS a contact in Phone app - I would kill for this to make it into CM9, I've been looking at dialler and contacts apps, but none seem to offer this ability in a usable state.
- A way to access the MicroSD card from Internal SD Card (some apps can't access /emmc) - Fix has been posted I think.
- Turn off screen when in pocket/put upside down (reduce battery consumption)- Nice, motion sensor to activate screen off, would be a big help on battery life.
- Add back-light timeout (different than screen timeout)
- List view for App Drawer

Don't know how many (if any) of the requested features will be included in a future update. If enough people want it, hopefully it may catch team hacksung's attention.

Long pressing power didn't force a reboot. Can I do the same after a battery pull and have it show what it needs to?
No. Long-pressing power for 10-15 seconds should have forced a reboot, that's really strange. FYI the device must be unplugged when you do this or it'll enter charging mode.

Pulling the battery will wipe the logs.

I believe NR is OFF right now.
And that's perfect for me, because on other Sammy ROMs that have NR enabled on every call, I get the annoying echo issue - it's because I am using the official Samsung extended battery, where the new backcover is more hollow and causes echo.

I tested this by disabling NR on the Sammy ROM in a call and then the echo was gone.
So PLEASE do not enable NR!!
It's off by default in any recent Sammy ROM. The user interface is crap - it's difficult to tell whether it's "off now" or "i'm turning it off".

If the other person can hear you when you talk into the earpiece instead of where the main mic is, it's ON. That's the current state of CM9 (libaudio seems to default to this state...)

If they can only hear you when you talk into the main mic, it's OFF.

How can I remove "phone fix" that brings the delete button to the bottom?

It looks kinda weird since the latest nightly. Search button moves 2-3 px up/down when swiping from phone to recent (log).

Another day and another logcat of wifi turning on problem. I can't turn on wifi after turning it off for some significant time.

First time flash for me and it was a one hit success. Very impressive coming from the stock ROM. Had a semi full run on it during a normal working day. My e-mail sync and calender worked as expected and I did not have any weird lockups, crashes, slow-downs during the course of the day. Seems this is pretty stable for a nightly build so far.

I was just wondering if anybody also noticed the following or have any suggestions:

  • Cannot find macro shot option on the camera app
  • Facebook App sync does not work via 'Accounts and Sync'. The icon is there but it does nothing when I tab on it. I used the same App on my stock kernel and I could pull all my Facebook friends to my phone's contact list.
  • I like the size of the bottom homescreen icons but is there a way to make the bar scrollable and change the icon style?
  • Is there any plans to have a proxy setting for Wireless connections. Something does support basic authentication and NTLM as these are normaly the most popular authentication types around here.
  • Not a big issue but interesting to see that the Windhoek/Namibia timezone is not included (it is a godsend ability to automaticly daylight saving time change and not rely on the cellphone operator for accurate time). I guess this will be one of the low priority items included once it goes stable?

Anyway - seeing the type of work the developers are doing on something like this makes me regret not taking the application development route in IT :p

CRT off animation doesn't always work, has anyone been able to reproduce it systematically? Trying to get a log of it but it only happens when I'm not expecting it.

Also as mentionned by someone else, slide right to call and slide left to text in CM9 would be the only touchwiz feature I'd love to see ported. ;) I can live without it but I do miss it ever since I switched.

- Macro option is in Camera - Go to settings then click three dots (menu) then choose Macro

- Facebook needs to update app to support ICS APIs. They were blocked because of API abuse with their old method :D

- Prolly use Apex for that - don't think that's a feature on the list.

- Proxy was in CM7 so i'm guessing it will get there for CM9

- Are you looking for the name of your timezone or your timezone offset as they should all be in there. I guess using your provider time should work for you too?

Answers:

1) [*]Cannot find macro shot option on the camera app : Go to Camera > Click on Settings Icon > Click On The 3 Dots Icon > Focus Mode > Toggle To Select Macro.
2) [*]Facebook App sync does not work via 'Accounts and Sync'. The icon is there but it does nothing when I tab on it. I used the same App on my stock kernel and I could pull all my Facebook friends to my phone's contact list. : Known Issue. Try http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=24822568&postcount=24497
3) [*]I like the size of the bottom homescreen icons but is there a way to make the bar scrollable and change the icon style? : Not Possible in default launcher. Try Nova or Apex Launchers
4) Is there any plans to have a proxy setting for Wireless connections. Something does support basic authentication and NTLM as these are normaly the most popular authentication types around here. : Not Sure.
5) Not a big issue but interesting to see that the Windhoek/Namibia timezone is not included (it is a godsend ability to automaticly daylight saving time change and not rely on the cellphone operator for accurate time). : Hopefully in future.

Guys, if GTALK_ASYNC_CONN is one of your main wakelocks, you might wanna check if you have Fancy Widgets installed. Mine was set to update the weather in a single city once every three hours but ended up boosting the wakelock count to hundreds and hundreds.

My phone battery behavior tends to go in the berserk mode.
I tried to troubleshoot it but I'm not sure where to start.
It's obvious that it's not going to deep sleep as it should. Can someone please take a look and give me a push in right direction. Thnx
BBS log attached...

Okay, you can start here"
Code:
NetworkStats (Android System): 45 m 19 s (2719 s) [B]Count:54122[/B] 13.7%
Find out what is causing that to have 54 thousand starts

Then there is this:
Code:
android (): Wakeups: 71
  Alarms: 1, Intent: android.intent.action.DATE_CHANGED
  Alarms: 316, Intent: android.intent.action.TIME_TICK
  Alarms: 11, Intent: com.android.server.action.NETWORK_STATS_POLL
  Alarms: 32, Intent: com.android.server.ThrottleManager.action.POLL
  Alarms: 2, Intent: android.net.wifi.DHCP_RENEW
 [B] Alarms: 22, Intent: android.appwidget.action.APPWIDGET_UPDATE[/B]
  Alarms: 4, Intent: com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindowManager.DELAYED_KEYGUARD
  Alarms: 5, Intent: android.app.backup.intent.RUN
  Alarms: 38, Intent: android.content.syncmanager.SYNC_ALARM

What is in bold point to some kind of widget that you have

Code:
"wlan_rx_wake" (): 3 h 1 m 19 s (10879 s) Cnt:(c/wc/ec)3913/0/3914 55.0%
"wlan_wake" (): 59 m 30 s (3570 s) Cnt:(c/wc/ec)644520/1754/0 18.0%

Entropy and others have talked numerous times about the above WL and how to go about rectifying it

You should however spend more time in this thread

Use Haxsync from the market to sync Facebook contacts.

Now that you mentioned it I also noticed it but it is so rare in my case. Cannot really determine under what conditions mine happens. I just switched on/off my screen for about half a minute and did not get it once but there were 2-4 occasions where it did not switch off during the day. As far as I can tell it was when I was switching the screen on/off in short succession.

Also as mentionned by someone else, slide right to call and slide left to text in CM9 would be the only touchwiz feature I'd love to see ported. ;) I can live without it but I do miss it ever since I switched.

Talking about this - is there a way to add other applications or is this buried to deep in the system to modify easily?

Bloody hell - thanks for that tip. I was there previously but tabbed the word and not the little arrow :/

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.0 (ICS), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    Code:

     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    - Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
    - Boot into Recovery
    - Flash CM9 zip
    - Flash GApps zip
    - DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your calendar sync will not work)

    Using the noob-proof ODIN method:

    - Open Odin
    - Choose cm-9-XXXXXXXX-ODIN-galaxys2.tar.md5 as PDA
    - Boot your phone into download mode
    - Connect your device via usb to your computer
    - Wait till Odin has fully recognized your phone
    - Hit the start button and wait till the flash process is finished
    - Device boots automatically into recovery
    - Flash GApps
    - Reboot into CM9
    - Follow above steps to update CM9 to lastest available version (Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9)

It's done when it's done. Don't expect a release withing the next days. If it takes weeks, then it takes weeks.

I'll focus on I9100 development because it's the device with the most users.
It will take us a lot of time to integrate all patches/hacks needed for samsung devices.

Don't bug us or ask for etas, just be patient and let us work.
That's the best what you can do.
