I've successfully upgraded the firmware after disabling USB debugging. Make sure you have more than 3gb space on hard disk. It took about 30min (download firmware, extract binary, download to device, etc). The device automatically rebooted, just wait for a few minutes and the reboot took about a minute to display lock screen. Disconnect the USB cable and you're all done. I updated from kj2 to kl3. Thanks again for the help.

For some reason after closing all active programs in task manager and turning on USB debugging it worked for me. Didn't have any option for Kies in USB settings either.

EDIT: I have a Samsung GS2 Skyrocket.

i9100G - 2.3.6 SuperRom v3

After rooting to SuperRom v3,
Connection mode not supported by Kies.

Tried :
1. Kies troubleshooting
2. PDA mode
3. Unchecked USB debugging

Nothing works, I'm not able to connect to Kies at all. I've got all my contacts in there!

Am I missing something?

I was having the same issues after i went with a custom rom. Try what i did

(below) that wound up allowing me to use kies once again. Hope that helps.

My phone does not connect to Samsung Kies via USB. I get the message:

"Reconnect the device in Samsung Kies (PC Studio) mode. Current connection mode not supported by Kies."

How do I put this phone into Samsung Kies Mode?

It was doing this when I first got my phone then the other day it suddenly started working perfectly somehow, now I am getting this message again.

EDIT: [Solved] You have to disable USB debugging mode in order to connect to Kies.

Settings->wireless and network->USB Settings and enable the Samasung Kies..

So dumb that we have to search and find options our self..Samsung is too stupid to provide the detailed explanation of issues and solutions...!
