Default [SOLVED] Unlock SIM Code (Network)

Hello all,

I've bought a code to unlock my Galaxy S II GT-I9100, and it didn't work. The seller was kind enough to refund me, but my problem is still not solved.

Some things to consider:
- I don't have a rooted phone, or any interest on rooting it.
- I've already gone to my Service Provider (Vodafone Portugal) and they asked for an absurd amount of money to do the job.

So, I'm reluctant in buying another code from ebay since the problem may still be there.

One seller says this:
"With the correct SIM card inserted type *#7465625# into the keypad, you will then be presented with a personalization screen similar to the following. If after entering the above code you get an "Invalid MMI code" error message do not buy this service. Your phones firmare may have corrupt data and may reject the code, reinstall the firmware using Samsung KIES and check you no longer get the error message before ordering"

I get the Invalid MMI code.

I've tried to reinstall the firmware using KIES, but it says 'GT-i9100 does not support initialising'.

I've made a factory reset and still get the Invalid MMI code.

TL;DR Can you help me unlock my phone?

Thank you all in advance!

-----------------------------

EDIT: SOLVED!

Steps to fix:

- I used this guide to root the phone (If you have your phone already rooted, forget this.)
- Install this app and it's done! (Thanks to marjune23!)

Try download a stock 4.1.2 firmware from sammobile.com flash it via odin(just search youtube for instruction how to flash) and go ahead try ur code or go to a sevice center not vodafone or samsung, there must be ppl who have phone service centers there and ask for a decode

Which requires root

OP, you either root your phone, or you go to the carrier & ask for an unlock code. Your choice.

If it's important enough to cause you grief if it's lost, back it up. No excuses

Does Samsung's auto-brightness implementation crap drive you to self-harm ? A solution !

Does this solution require root?

Thank you all for the answers. The problem in going to the carrier, is that my phone was bought with a company contract, and they need a company authorization, otherwise they refuse unlocking the phone.

I am not interested in rooting the phone, but thanks anyway.

Looks like somebody is paying for an unlock code from a carrier then.

I've recalled my carrier, and I decided that I would rather root the phone than paying them anything. F*ckin leeches.

This was it! I've rooted the phone using this guide, but their unlock solution didn't work. I used yours, and it did the trick! Many many thanks!

I'll edit the main post and mark it as solved.

Thanks again all for your help.
