[Q] WiFi and Unknown Baseband with Philz

Apparently, I do not have enough post count to ask in the original thread below hence the post here.

I am quite happy with unofficial CM11 KitKat for i9100 (International first gen) and upgraded my unit from stock 4.1.2 to 4.4.2. I did so by installing CWM and then the two files CM11 + Google Apps. All works fine. As I prefer the CWM touch, I flashed CWM Advanced Edition / PhilZ Touch 6.12.8 from the thread. The baseband become unknown hence cellular coverage is gone, Wifi can't be turned on. Flashed back the older and vanilla CWM, things are working again.

I can't understand why the CWM from Philz would disabled Wifi and Cellular coverage. Any tips for me to get this done?

Also the original 2GB partition for Apps is too small, I searched but can't find a good way to increase the partition size. Any guidance is appreciated.
