I just upgraded Android version 4.0.3 Kernal=ZSLPG

Can i flash "CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5.zip" on this ?

To my understanding, you need to flash LPG version.

As there is no CF-Root kernel for ZSLPG, you have to use another version, which is "near" to your ROM/kernel version.
Try CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_LP7-v5.4-CWM5.zip, as this is also Android 4.0.3 and has nearly the same release date than your ROM.

Please backup everything important before flashing.

I flashed CFs excellent package then not realising he had included cwm installed ROM manager and flashed the recovery mod 4.0.1.5 then realised there was cwm and read this thread as I got this from an external site. Have done bad? If so can I just refresh with Odin to fix? Or does it not matter sorry I just wanted to ask before I do anything more stupid

Nearest available CF-Root kernel is CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEU_KE2-v4.0-CWM4.zip.
It is also Android 2.3.3 and was released in same month than your ROM.

Please backup everything important before flashing.

Guys, I need some help. I have just updated today to ICS (Orange LPB) via Kies on the desktop. Everything went on fine, the phone worked, no problems. Then I tried to root it using CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXX_LPB-v5.2-CWM5-PROPER.zip. Enabled the USB debug mode, switched off, put it in download mode, connected it to the PC started ODIN, loaded the CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXX_LPB-v5.2-CWM5-PROPER.tar as PDA, hit Start, everything went on ok and the phone restarted. I got the starting screen with Samsung Galaxy SII and the yellow triangle and after that nothing. The screen turns black and that's it. I tried removing the battery and putting it back in, same thing. Tried to enter download mode, doesn't work. It starts as before with the model screen with yellow triangle then black. Same with recovery mode. What can I do?

Try using a jig, it'll put the phone in download mode, then u can re-flash.

You can get stock kernel and flash that via odin again over your current one.

Or you can also get some of the near kernels to yours say
CF-Root-SGS2_BU_VOD_LPC-v5.4-CWM5.zip
or CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LPH-v5.2-CWM5.zip.

And if that still fails, just get stock kernel or try some of the other root kernels here provided by other members but chainfire =)

I personally would go with LPC one.

Lets us know how it goes.

Then you might see that next closest kernel to yours is

CF-Root-SGS2_XW_O2U_LP3-v5.4-CWM5.zip

or LP6.

So I ended up trying to root my i777 using the skyrocket method. Doing a search for the ATT galaxy sii brought it up and I didn't realize there were two versions on the same network. Now it's stuck at the bootup screen. I wanted to try to flash one of these kernels now, but I can't go into my settings to see what kernel I already have and get the corresponding download (obviously, since I can't boot up). Which one would it most likely be?

LP9 has a known issue that it gets sleep of death everytime, even on stock. Use LP8 instead.

I used the method described in the first post in the thread to root my phone last July and have had zero issues with it since. Today the carrier (Bell in Canada) released the upgrade to ICS and if I wanted to get the update what would be the best way to go about doing it? If I flash via Kies I think I will loose my root but will remain unlocked correct?

The only thing I screwed up on in the last few months was I uninstalled some of the bloatware with Titanium Backup and deleted a couple system apps like Samsung social that won’t restore. Will this give me any issues?
