Hey all,

Is there a way to fully backup Navigon with the maps so i don`t have to download them after a ROM flash.

Using Navigon 4.0

I tried the following backups with a system, apk and data restore
  • Nandroid
  • My backup root pro
  • Titanium backup

Non off the above worked

you have to save the [/mnt]/sdcard/Navigon folder to a safe location. then just put it back to your internal sd card after a fw flash. (also external is possible, but you have to edit /data/data/com.navigon.navigator_checkout_eu40/files/NaviKernelConf.ini [i have eu version]

from

DataPath = /mnt/sdcard/Navigon/data/
ExtensionPath = /mnt/sdcard/Navigon/poi/
MapPath = /mnt/sdcard/Navigon/map/
SoundPath = /mnt/sdcard/Navigon/sound/

to

DataPath = /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/Navigon/data/
ExtensionPath = /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/Navigon/poi/
MapPath = /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/Navigon/map/
SoundPath = /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/Navigon/sound/

so you can have your maps also on the external sd)

hope it helps

If you want to backup your favorites

First, your phone has to be rooted, so you can access system files (I used ES file exporer)

copy in :
/data/data/com.navigon.navigator_checkout_eu40/databases

files:
navigon.db
navigon.db-journal

Hope this helps to somebody, I searched for couple of days

Remember to set file permissions and owner like in the new installation.

I am using Samsung Galaxy S3
Navigon Europe 4.6
android 4.2.1

Move backup export Navigon favorites to new Android phone
[QUOTE=vladsuman;51281778]If you want to backup your favorites

That was exactly what I was looking for. There is no official way to save/export Navigon favorites. I just changed from Galaxy S3 to S5, and didn't look forward to re-entering them by hand. You could put them in a contact group and get them in Navigon from there, but that's also a pain, and Google maps doesn't share to G Contacts, so you would really just have to do it by hand.

vladsuman's method worked perfectly (using ES file explorer, rooted of course).

The 2 files have different permissions
navigon.db: permissions owner and group r/w
navigon.db-journal: permissions owner r/w
And the owner/group is different between old & new phone. But doing that all correctly, it worked perfectly.

I made the post title maybe more searchable, at least using the terms I tried before stumbling on this life saver by accident.

phone galaxy s5 g901f
Navigon 5.3.2
