Sync problem: calendar

I have a sync issue that tells me "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." I don't know what the definition of "shortly" may be, but this is going on 3 months now.

Everything except calendar syncs on my S3. Here's what I've tried:
  • Removed Samsung account
  • Uninstalled Google Voice and Skype
  • Removed Google account
  • Wiped cache in recovery mode
  • Added Google account back

My phone is not rooted but it is unlocked. I lived in Europe and now that I'm back in the US I'm using TMobile instead of AT&T since it is unlocked. I would seriously and sincerely appreciate any help getting calendar to sync, I do need it working for business which requires lots of travel. I have a Samsung SGH-I747 running Android 4.4.2.
