Would it be wrong to hold on to the S3? Would I be better of upgrading to the S4?

My service is through US Cellular, they have very limited options available. I have no problems with the S3, I'm continuing to look for ways to make it faster.

I love customizing, and I don't want something with a locked bootloader. If I'm eligible for an upgrade, would the S4 or S5 be a good option for me? Should I stick with the S3, as there's still development for it even if it is 2 years old?
