I love my Otter box but as everyone else has said, the screen protector really hinders the beauty of the S3's screen. Tis' a shame. If I want to replace the screen protector, which one would be best to change it to?

I really liked my Otterboxes but the issues with the screen protector not being very clear and lacking in the sensitivity area a bit were deal breakers for me.

guys, stay AWAY from the defender, at the 3rd/4th week mark the outer silicone will start stretching to the point of being half loose a month down, one thing positive is their customer service is good, they will send you a replacement if you provide photo prove of the damage. I received the replacement thinking it might be different, but its stretching out at the same rate with moderate use, not worth the money. Im considering the ballistic maxx or the puregear dualtek. I'm done with otterbox

If anyone, have another sugestion for a high protection case, please share it

Theres the ballistic sg (not maxx) not as bulky, no belt clip, no screen plastic cover

I'm using the puregear dualteck and like it a lot. There is a screen protector that comes along with it that is pretty good.

I've dropped the phone only twice (not from a great height) and the case has done it's job admirably.

There is a raised lip around the display/screen side of the phone which is nice to have for face down times and the raised lip does not interfere with the bottom capacitive buttons / home button at all. I tried my buddie's GS3 with Defender and noted the lip made those buttons harder to access.

The best features imo are the recessed camera/speaker/flash ports and the palm/finger grips on the outside which are surprisingly nice.

Wow the screen protector is awful on these things! not with in 5 minutes i yanked it off.. it terrible no joke. Over all the case is more for protection than for looks.. I have the uag prior to the ob and prefer the uag, no doubt. I will still keep the defender just for the collection tho. Just not feeling it compared to the uag.

Well received my white polycarbon part today, swapped it out with the black. Looks way better! Black rubber, white hard plastic, white gs3. All good.

im very tempted to do this. Did you have to remove any glue that was holding the clear plastic in? Or does it just pop off and thats it? I absolutely hate how terrible the screen looks with this screen protector.

You have to remove the glue, it almost peels off in one piece,

Would it be a good idea to put a zagg screen protector or just leave it alone?

That's very strange you're not getting response from Otter. I've an issue with my case coming loose at the corners. I too sent pictures, and within a few days they sent me not one but SIX replacement holsters and a brand new case. Otter is awesome!!!

I can agree with that. Otter replies soooo quick and they always fix every issue I ever had.

do the corners have to be really out of shape for a replacement or is any kind of visible gap good enough?

Just sent in a claim for my replacement.. The rubber was wearing down getting all loose on the sides and the hard plastic clips weren't looking.. Very good service.

I haven't seen anyone mention it, on 2 defenders I had the left side almost didn't fit well. Loke every time a pushed a volume button the hard part pushed in.

Both mine had that problem, pissed me off everytime I saw that lol. My solution was easy, sold it and bought a uag lol.

Did the same thing, best case I've used so far. If only the commuter's buttons weren't so stiff that would be my choice.

after less than two month of usage

    usb cover torn off

rubberized casing is not conform to polycarbonate casing anymore:eek:

I had this issue too...my bottom edge wouldn't stay on at all the USB area was bubbled up like your's but worse and all the corners were coming loose like yours. The only thing I didn't have is I still have the USB port cover I've had mine since about 2wks after the S3 came out.

I ran across a video on youtube about a kid with an otterbox iphone case and he put the case into a pan of boiling water for 5min (minimum) then pulled it and let it cool and it had returned to its natural size.

i was skeptical, but figured it couldn't hurt to try it. I took it one step further. after i boiled the outer rubber case, i took it and put it directly into the freezer and left it in there for about 20min (till good and hard/froze). Took it back out, ran it under warm tap water till it was flexible again and put it back on. it's as tight now as it was the day I got it.

I don't think the boiling/(and or freezing) thing actually shrinks the rubber, I more think it realigns all the molecules and lets them return to their natural (unstretched) state. (that coming from what little I remember of college physics and Chemistry)

Either way can't hurt to try and at the least you get a very clean cover to put back on.

I guess I can't post links yet (too noobish...WHATEVER) search youtube for "Shrink Otterbox Silicone Case" it should be the first result.

I appoligize in advance for the guys lack of taste in music and his commentary sounding like he is 12.

Awesome case, bad screen protector. Took mine off because it degraded screen quality. Besides the glass they use on an S3 is called gorilla glass 2 and if you Google it, it will show you how tough it really is and that a screen protector really isn't necessary.

Have noticed that the corners are starting to come away on case...

Just email customer service. They will ask for some basic information and pics. That's it.

I requested replacement for my case coming loose at corners. Some how they only sent me two outer holsters.

Just email them again to ask what's up rest of my order and a rep immediately responded. She's apologize and sending me out a new case and more holsters.

What the heck do i do now with 5 holsters? Lol ^_^

For the last replacement that I got for my GS3 I received a box with an empty plastic bag and an invoice paper...no case... But a call to costumer service solved the problem, they sent me another replacement overnight.

Kool. Ill look into that soon. What if i purchased it from ebay, but its still Original otterbox? wont decline the warranty?
They don't asked for a receipt you will be fine, I have never purchased directly from otterbox, its always been third party sellers and never had an issue.
